  1. That's not true. E&Y will either stay put or go to FEB. They could not move to Stark's project because Stark could not have their building up before E&Y's current lease expires. Wolstein is much further along than Stark w/financing & tenanting and has the ability to have E&Y's building up in two years.
  2. Successful development of the Flats East Bank will HELP Stark's project (not hurt it). Land development in places like Median, Huron, Avon and Media = urban sprawl = a big negative for the region and our environment. The Flats has enormous potential to be a major regional draw for new employers & young professionals. If an amazing developer like Wolstein can actually rebuild the infrastructure and rejuvenate this 'black eye', it will bring a new momentum to Downtown. It will also make the Stark/Asher land much more valuable for development. Stark should look outside of existing Downtown office users for his project. It will be a much easier sell with a booming Flats East Bank in walking distance!
  3. I hope this project happens. It's a good plan for this structure and will ultimately add value to the neighborhood. Besides, it is MUCH BETTER than letting Joe Cimperman & our "leaders" place another homeless shelter or "transitional housing" site there.
  4. Blinker12, do you mean the Lighthouse Landing site at Main & Front & West 10th?

Great move by the state. This should help unify the local Ohio film commissions (who seem to be more concerned about 'protecting their turf' than on growing the business across the board). Now if the state can also get a intelligent film incentive passed, we'll be in business.
  6. Nice shot ... there's actually been some visible progress since the last shot last Thurs! I'd love to see a new pic of Superior & East 15th.
  7. The garage is owned by Weston. It is very ugly, but the exterior could be drastically improved for $100 - $200k.
  8. what? ... where is the convention center going to be located?? besides that, I also think it's a good location ... right on Euclid Avenue
  9. Does anyone know ... * What are they building in the Hanna Building, 1st floor, on Euclid Avenue? If it's a restaurant, what kind? * What ever happenned to the plans of Playhouse Square to develop the parking lot at East 17th & Euclid into a brand new, mixed-use building??
  10. Jacobs is not going to build a 70 story building. Also, they do not have the same influence around City Hall that they had 15 years ago. They've been dormant with Downtown Cleveland involvement.

Tylerville is for rock stars … just ask Dave Mathews ... http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=27669289&blogID=302274333
  13. The I last heard was that Baker is either going to the Warehouse District lot overlooking the Flats East Bank (corner of W. 10th & Main) or to the BP Building.
  14. KJP ... I think that the agreements with Kassouf & Khoury are irrelevant here. I think that those properties are in the Flats East Bank and heard that Kassouf & Khoury hastily signed those to add another monkeywrench in the eminent domain stuff.
  15. Cleveland has way more leeches than most places. It's like a dark gray cloud hovering over the city and people need to fight like hell to rise above it. People here tend to be way too territorial (only concerned about what's best for them and protecting their own turf) and not able to grasp the idea of embracing long-term changes that benefit the entire region.
  16. I heard that they are moving their 25 or so employees into a existing building ... West 3rd & St. Clair.
  17. SCOOP: I heard that Stark is moving his offices to the Warehouse District.
  18. A chance for something special on the Flats' east bank Sunday, April 29, 2007 Let's face it: Cleveland-area developers haven't aimed for the stars lately when it comes to architecture and planning. The local state of the art is to strive for cutesy-pie nostalgia, as in Mitchell Schneider's Disney-style Legacy Village shopping center in Lyndhurst, or to be satisfied with the solid but unexceptional contemporary look of Nathan Zaremba's Avenue development in downtown Cleveland. 19. C'mon Ohio, start setting up wind turbines !!
  20. Good post HtsGuy. Does ANYONE know what the delays are? They have 8 acres of land and I can't believe the CPP is holding up a $200 million project ... there must be something else. Where are the construction crews? Do you know KLP? God knows the Plain Dealer or Crains never write follow up articles. :?
  21. THIS WILL HURT THE AVENUE DISTRICT ... Aiding strip club move part of helping homeless Wednesday, April 04, 2007 Susan Vinella Plain Dealer Reporter Cleveland taxpayers are likely to pay to find a new home for a strip club. City officials said Tuesday they are proposing to move the "Stage 2" club as part of a plan to convert a motel at 1550 Superior Ave. into transitional quarters for homeless men who are working... I heard that the City & ParkWorks will make a big push to get this done in 2007. The budget is $ 3 million of which most is already raised. They hired a landscape architect from out of town.
  23. I attended and wished I didn't. After getting there at 6pm and waiting around for 45 minutes, I left because the event STILL did not start. Whoever organized the event has their head up their ass!
  24. Don't just email it ... SNAIL MAIL it too!! Copy politicians, reporters and the leaders of the downtown community development groups. Nice job !!!

GRACIESDAD: * Thanks for the comments. * Congrats on the new tenants and on beautiful work in the Digiknow and Ante Up Audio spaces !! * The historic tax codes are a HUGE economic incentive. Actually, I feel that it would be economically impossible for Graystone to completely renovate Tyler Village without the tax credits (unless Graystone wants to lose money). This is because you folks are probably leasing space for much less than $10 spf. In my humble opinion, for a project of your scope to economically fly w/o any tax credits, you would need a kick ass occupancy rate with rents over $15 psf. This is something that most arts and tech company can't pay. * But, to argue against the tax credits, a big problem with the tax credits is that 98% of the architects in town do not thoroughly understand the tax codes and would not be able to properly fill out the paperwork and provide the oversite needed to qualify for the credits. For example, consider the mess at the former WKYC Building (Rockwell condos near East 6th) that was largely caused by architects that mis-analyzed the credits. * Best of luck!!
