Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Regarding the base of the tiara, aside from the GA logo I still think there is work to be done on the sides that will help cover some of the rooftop equipment. Unless the renderings are inaccurate.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
Well, I am aware there are no losing teams in the playoffs and suspect there never have been. Look back at some of the games, especially against the Braves and Phillies, and there were definitely some games they gave away as well as many close games. I think they actually lost 7 runs leads in the 9th twice. Anyway, I just think this team will find a way to win and find it very unlikely they will be swept. As a matter of fact, I like their chances - we'll see.

Lighten up, if the Reds get to the postseason they will do well.

I will definitely take a W, and the defense looks great. There really seems to still be something wrong with Palmer - missing Ochocinco in in the back of the endzone was pretty bad.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
At this point there is no reason the Reds should not be getting 35k every game (as I type while watching the game with two young grade schoolers). I did go to the Saturday night sellout last weekend though. Anyway, the Courier had an article at the end of July that showed the Reds have the 4th highest TV rating for all regional sports networks, and the highest radio rating. The raw numbers for radio placed the Reds 10th as I recall - due to larger markets like each of the 2 teams in NYC, Chicago, and LA have, for example. Cincinnati obviously still has a deep connection with the Reds as the numbers show, but they need to get those viewers and listeners in the seats. Actually, the fans owe it to the Reds to be there with how they have played.

Ohio State Fair 2010
Generally the State Fair is a 'billy fest with some has-been bands, but it can also be a fun nostalgic slice of Americana. Going there as a college student was fun, but Catholic School festivals are way more fun for a number of reasons.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
This seems somewhat downsized, but I think they are trying to get in front of the recovery. I imagine the streetcar route willl have some impact on this.

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
I guess I am thinking of cities that have lost more than half of their peak population. St. Louis would apply.

No shocks except Galveston, although I wonder why a place like Pittsburgh is not on the list.

Man these Cleveburgh fans just cannot stay out of the Cincinnati threads - unbelievable. You never want to give up a 10-1 lead, but to tie it in the 9th after falling behind and to win it in the 12th showed a lot of poise. I'll take a 6-3 West Coast trip every time.

I do think they will keep Shipley - I probably could have been clearer in how I stated that. I cannot see them letting him go, and he has great open field instincts. I think others are in trouble.

On a sad note - I can only imagine what the Woods family is going through. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20100814/NEWS01/308140012/1055/NEWS/Ickey-Woods-son-dies-at-16

This discussion makes me wonder what it would have been like had the interwebs been invented at the time the Scripps center was built. Regardless, while QCS can look like a dud from certain views, to deny she is a striking beauty from others is just being stubborn.

Wow - I only saw pieces, but it was nice to see the Reds recalibrate Josh Johnsons' ERA. He must have been a bad luck pitcher based on his record. I am now contemplating adding a second favorite team, just in case.

That person is at the very least a d-bag. FYI, tapping the catcher is a ritual for Phillips. Listen to Molina in his first interview after the game - he stated Phillips tried to say hi to him, and he said he did not want him saying hi after talking about his team like that - he then threw his tantrum.

Favorite Music At The Moment?
Frightened Rabbit has potential, and I like that they do not hide their Scottishness. Pretty good lyrics, although the refrain in this song is little overdone.

You beat me to it, and I completely agree about both. Carpenter decided to get in Baker's face, and that is when the fight really began. Rolen took care of him nicely. And the next time a player gets a suspension for talking about another team will quickly be the next time the player's union has it overturned - that's silly.

^ Awesome, right on cue. I suppose I should list the World Championships, playoff appearances etc...I believe you belong in a different thread. Very typical.

Mason: Lindner Family Tennis Center / Cincinnati Open
Well it's that time of year again, and it sounds like the players really like the upgrades at the stadium (see link). Once again all top 20 men are here and many of the top 20 women. The women's tournament has really upgraded rapidly, and will have most of their top players next year. Another benefit to the women's tournament is getting to see Maria Sharapova, who won today.... http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20100810/SPT/8110367/Players-dig-new-digs-at-Lindner-Family-Tennis-Center

Ugh - I have never been a fan of smack talk - I mean really what is the purpose? I guess it is fine for some fans (who probably never played the game) but not from players. At least do more than 3 meaningless singles if you are going to say something. Anyway, hopefully this will be a good learning experience for the entire team, and the Reds seem to play well against everyone except the Cardinals.

How about those Reds? Arroyo looked tough today - I cannot wait for next week's series with the Cardinals. Going to the Tuesday game with great seats down the left field line.

New Ohio metro populations.
Actually, from an urbanized standpoint, it would be more appropriate to use Hamilton, Clermont, Butler, and Warren in Ohio, and Boone, Kenton, and Campbell in Kentucky. I used the old April estimate but that population was 1,991,050 in approximately 2300-2400 square miles.
