Must be sad for this small town to lose a landmark building in its downtown. The Toledo Blade article below has a picture and video of the building after the storm. There was an opera house inside the building. http://toledoblade.com/article/20100625/NEWS16/6250352

No downtown pictures here, not that much is being missed. Recently I stopped in Sylvania on my way home from Toledo. My mom grew up and my grandfather, grandmother and uncle are buried in Sylvania so I stopped by the cemetery. I called up my mom when I noticed an old brick school (Burnham) was demolished. Come to find out she went there for 9th and 10th grades. Then when I stopped by the museum I was told 2 other schools all from around the same era (built in 1920s-1930s) are beind demolished. One (Maplewood) is where my mom went for all of elementary. Construction on Burnham began in 1925. In the article below are some photos that show the nice architectural detail on the building. http://www.toledoblade.com/article/20100221/NEWS16/2210351 Here is Maplewood

  22. Work could begin this summer on the Horsefeathers building. The 114-year-old building is to be turned into an indoor farmers market, food production center and apartments. http://www.buffalonews.com/2010/06/15/1082965/developer-gets-ok-to-develop-horsefeathers.html
  23. Oh and concerning the Packard Plant. I am one of the biggest preservationists around but I can't argue with them saying that Packard should be razed. I would be kinda sad to see it go given its history but really, there is no logical reuse of the building. Maybe part of it could be saved for a museum but even that is a stretch. I doubt anything is happening with the building and when something does it would be demolished.
  24. Here is a breakdown of the 10 building with history, pictures and why they should be saved or not. I agree with pretty much all of it except the Metropolitan is a definite save for me. http://www.freep.com/article/20100610/BUSINESS04/100609080/Raze-or-save?-10-notable-vacant-Detroit-buildings
