Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
I agree, but everyone is guilty of ethics violations, and these seem to be off the standard variety, and don't rise to the level of disqualifying one for public office. Bibb is the wrong candidate, but for far more mundane reasons. We should dispense with the notion that politicians aught to be role models for children. For one, history shows it to be laughable. And two, we have all made mistakes, myself included. I want normal people to run for office, and that won't happen until we start extending more grace to politicians.

As someone who will definitely not be voting for Bibb, I have to agree that these complaints seem like grasping at straws.

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
I know for a fact that Kevin Kelley supports this as he brought it up unbidden at a meet and greet I attended. Honestly, I would bet literally every single candidate will claim to support removing those Jersey barriers if asked, so I don't understand this point. The question is who will get it done, not which politician will endorse a universally popular idea.

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
Kevin Kelley stopped by my apartment for a meet and greet on Wednesday. I was impressed with his answers, and seemed very knowledgeable on every subject that came up. He also was far more interested in making changes and departing from the previous administration than Jackson's endorsement would suggest. Overall, my biggest impression was that of competence.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced the National Park Service (NPS) has awarded a $661,724 grant to the City of Cleveland to develop Clark Avenue Park. Funding has been awarded through the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) as part of the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) program. The project includes landscaping and infrastructure improvements, and will install a splash pad, play equipment, a basketball court, outdoor game tables and park benches. https://www.brown.senate.gov/newsroom/press/release/brown-clark-avenue-park-cleveland

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I'd love to see some form of smart card! The time it takes to get a ticket adds up. Even for rail, which doesn't slow the train down, it still takes up my time every time I want to ride. I would imagine they could make it work like EZpass, where you carry a balance on your card that then automatically refills once it runs empty. My only concern is that RTA would start tracking people and selling information to third parties like seemingly every company does nowadays. Hopefully they would promise not to do that.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
The name is phenomenal! The logos leave a lot to be desired. The name has a lot of good logo potential, check out this fan design: https://www.behance.net/gallery/101622239/CLE-Guardians?tracking_source=for_you_feed_user_published

Cleveland: Downtown: 75 Public Square Renovation
Maybe it's too early to know, or maybe I just missed it, but does anyone know what is planned for the ground floor of this building? It would be a fantastic location for a restaurant/cafe or other public amenity.

Metro Cleveland: Road & Highway News
One more reason we need more bike/pedestrian across the Cuyahoga river. When this bridge goes down it becomes a 40 min walk from Thirsty Dog to Shooters. 12 months is a long time for this bridge to be closed.

Cleveland: Downtown Parks & Public Spaces - Development/Construction
Does anyone know if the city ever decided what to do with the old FirstEnergy power plant? https://www.clevelandmetroparks.com/getmedia/f4fbec75-6ed2-40c5-abea-f5e2368723b3/CLE-2017_FirstEnergy_Lakeshore_Reuse.pdf.ashx I'd personally love to see it grouped in with the CHEERS plan, along with the Green Ribbon Coalition's plan to move I-90 to tell create an East Side Edgewater. Combining all three is a pipe dream that probably won't happen. Regardless, there's some good potential to make this into public space, and combine it into Gordon Park, regardless of if I-90 is moved.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
You're not wrong, but as of a few weeks ago it is undergoing massive repairs. In the context of those, his reply makes perfect sense. Hopefully they will be completed soon and the building will be returned to its former splendor.

I'm very curious to see what will be done with the movie theater. I'd love to see a movie theater return, but if not, I'm sure there are all sorts of interesting creative uses that could be explored.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Regardless of how this patch of land is developed, I'd love to see a nice trail/boardwalk along the river along with a pedestrian crossing over the mouth of the Cuyahoga, as well as south over to the FWB. I think that would activate the whole area like little else could! And connect everything together nicely!

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I'd love to see the Metroparks buy that, though I doubt they will or can. Either way, it will be one more reason to add a pedestrian trail to the rail bridge across the mouth of the Cuyahoga.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Ooh cool! I'd kind of like to see the Metroparks buy that, though I doubt they could afford it.

I like this idea, particularly the trail component! but what will the county do when inevitably one stubborn landowner refuses to take the deal? Trails aren't very useful if they aren't continuous and getting unanimous consent seems impossible. If one house in a row of ten says no to a trail than there can't be a useful trail.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I also think W3rd is the wrong street to close to cars. It is too close to PS, and it has an entrance/exit to the Shoreway. Closing this section would likely significantly complicate routes in and out of the city, meaning more traffic.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Unironically this. That's why SHW bought the lot, and that's why it's only 2 stories. Complaining about it now won't change it. I'm choosing to appreciate the silver lining of PS getting a few more hours of sunlight in spring/fall.

Suburban Cleveland: Development and News
I reverse commute out to the suburbs, as such, I'd clearly love it if my office moved downtown. That said, I'm fairly confident 90% of the office would be opposed to that, and 80% of them would be very opposed. The appeal of working downtown is far from universal. I'd also agree that On Average working in the suburbs probably doesn't result in shorter commutes. (Particularly in a city like Cleveland where traffic really isn't that bad). It seems like regardless of which side of town the office is on, about half of the employees live on the other one.

Hyperloop
It wouldn't "derail" anything, see my original comment. It isn't hard to expel as much air as a dime sized orifice subject to 14psi differential pressure can let it, particularly across several pumps. As per my last reply, no one is going to build a miles long system and expect it to be leak free, air will be continuously expelled to account for expected leaks. If is deemed logical in a cost benefit analysis, extra capacity could be held in reserve for larger leaks. If not the vacuum level will drop, and so will the speeds, closer to traditional high speed rail, which is subject to air resistance. I see no reason why anything would "derail." I'll give your video a watch eventually out of a spirit of open mindedness.
