  1. The blue pre civil building on central parkway was denied demolition for the boutique hotel project…which is good I guess, but I’m worried about how the plans will shift…some type of hotel seems like a very strong addition to otr and would hate to see this project die. Hopefully they will be able to find a way to incorporate the new design with the blue building in mind.
  2. I was hoping this would add new jobs to the urban core..kind of disappointing that we are only transferring jobs from point a to point b.
  3. isn’t that building a historic brewery? If I recall correctly the facade is Modern but underneath the facade remains…I could also be thinking of the wrong building.
  4. build you own salad bowl and wraps chain coming to fountain square. https://www.citybeat.com/food-drink/the-dish/blog/21153815/buildyourown-salad-chain-green-district-coming-to-fountain-square-in-cincinnati-good-salads-near-me-cincinnati?fbclid=IwAR3bjBd7nx4nmsmSTZYLemOYWSPnjVicPluaVUEt0LWdr6PSWdPMRHF84tI
  5. yeah otr is doing fine. the CBD on the other hand has sparse project after sparse project. it wouldn’t be so bad if there were few and far between surface lots to develop..but cbd is ripe for condo/apartment towers that you constantly see built in Nashville and Columbus and other booming cities..here in Cincinnati it’s very much difficult to see movement on big projects like this.
  6. see I was thinking that to, but recently drove up to Columbus and there were cranes everywhere..don’t even get me started about Nashville. I was going to blame this on the construction labor shortages, rising cost of lumber and other construction materials, etc…but this hasn’t really slowed down construction projects in other cities…
  7. Just a personal observation from urban Ohio for the past 5-6 years…it feels like this year has been the slowest development wise in quite some time for the Cincinnati urban core. 3cdc is obviously doing their otr projects and infill projects but overall it’s felt really quiet. I drive by so many surface lots downtown and you would like to think at some point you will see this boom of construction projects from outside developers and see new apartment/condo towers being built…nevertheless, this summer in particular has just felt really dead with nothing really big coming into the horizon..definitely an off year in my mind.
  8. 550 square foot apartment for almost 1000 bucks per month? That’s a shoe box!
  9. https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2021/07/08/korean-fried-chicken-walnut-hills.html korean friend chicken restaurant coming to walnut hills. It will be adjacent to Esoteric Brewery. I felt like walnut hills was on a roll in 2018 and 2019. Its felt oddly quiet for a once really rapid push for revitalization. I know the pandemic really slowed things down for a lot of neighborhoods so hopefully this is a sign of things starting to slowly pick up again in WH.
  10. well that’s just frustrating…you would think it’s the city and county best interest since these projects will only boost revenue for the city and the county.
  11. so both the city and county need to approve the construction of a restaurant going in that space? I don’t understand…if there is already a master plan for the banks. Why not follow it? Don’t understand why there can’t be a team appointed from both the city and the county and just have them work in unison, as a team, and direct the future developments of the banks?
  12. So any news when those grassy lots (where the Ferris wheel was supposed to go) will be developed? Also wasn’t there supposed to be another restaurant on that lot? The banks has been in development for what, almost 10 years now? How is this hard to get another restaurant tenant there? There are just some aspects about the banks that makes me curious why this area so diffficult to get constant momentum. You have 2 sports stadiums, a music venue, a Fortune 500 company in GE. You have the business foot traffic, you will have soon have more general public consistent foot traffic with the music venue…yet it just seems like pulling teeth when it comes to getting anything done with the banks.
  13. They serve cauliflower wings and a lot of upscale bar food and burgers and have a huge lineup of bourbon drinks. Sounds like it would fit quite well in otr from a glance of their current middle town location.
  14. they don’t have a good track record, but again there is so much speculation going on in this thread based off very little concrete evidence. It’s kind of becoming a doomsday thread based off hearsay rumors with no actual news to base this off of.
  15. I think there is a lot of assumptions and fear based off very little to go. There is not even concrete confirmation showing that western and southern owns this building. Instead we have almost 8-9 comments based off rumors and potential and run off conversations about worst case scenarios. Not saying this is necessarily off topic convo, but at the same we are literally commenting back and forth with no real legit local news article, but Hearsay rumors.
  16. Could that building be converted into office space?
  17. Doing a simple Google search it seems like they already have a middle town location, so I’m guessing (if they are related) then this concept has been popular enough for a second location.
  18. The new hcb packet is out. Some interesting items…the former pannino space at 1315 vine will turn into Bourbon Craft Kitchen and Bar. It appears they want an outdoor patio and a dj booth.
  19. The guitar is being assembled right as I type this near the entrance plaza for the Hard Rock Cafe.
  20. maybe with cranley in office for the next few months but I can’t imagine they would be able to pull the same strings if say aftab becomes mayor with a fresh set of new city council faces.
  21. This is going to add such a huge presence to sycamore street. The best part is there still quite a few lots left to develop on that block…so I’m extremely happy that we didn’t get a super block project.
  22. Terrible mass shooting in smale River front park during the 4th of July fireworks. 2 currently dead, 3 in critical condition. Super curious what level of police presence was there during this event.
  23. https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2021/07/02/bebos-opens.html milk shake and burger bar opening on court street. also, there will be another car this weekend on court street. we are definitely blessed as a city to have 3cdc. I don’t know how Cincy would be like without them pumping all of these transformation projects.
  24. infill projects north of liberty are still so rare and few between. I hate to say this will be an empty lot for another 10 years, but it will probably a remain an empty lot for another 10 years.
  25. https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2021/07/01/hamilton-county-injects-tens-of-millions-into-hous.html?ana=TRUEANTHEMFB_CI&csrc=6398&utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+Trending+Content&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR1g1feIxIJHIrANPFlw029vLFO8DHaz2hGpJ-RN4ObrjiX2SW16GS_VlMo some interesting news here..Hamilton county will use portion of the rescue funds to build out the lot at the banks next to Paul brown stadium. sounds like they will build an African American hall of fame/park.
