  1. In other news an official Rolex store is coming next to Nordstrom. That’s a first for the Cincinnati area I believe. I just don’t understand how Kenwood can give Rolex and other big brand retail, but than have a crap discount clothes store that took over h and m by the food court. No way that h and m replace can afford that rent cost...I don’t get at all what is going on with Kenwood retail rent prices. They are attracting Rolex but are also attracting tenants that used to be at east gate.
  2. Disney store at the kenwood mall is closing July 14. sad things are going on at kenwood mall folks. Food court half empty. Probably 35 percent tenants gone with new clearance rack tenants taking over because of kenwood low rent. Malls are dead folks. I never thought this would happen with Kenwood but it’s official, malls are truly on the way out.
  3. My guess is because hiring right now and having workers stick is a huge hassle right now .
  4. No one said they should be exiled. They should respect the environment around them and the people around them.
  5. what does this have to do with being poor? I never said if these people were wealthy or poor. I never said what race these people were because at the time it was filled with whites l, blacks, Asians, etc. The only reason I even prefaced my post about race because I knew this would trigger someone and think this is about race because we live in such a sensitive culture now where everyone is so sensitive about any topics nowadays. Parks are meant for everyone. At the same time why is it okay for little kids to be around marijuana smoke? Why is it ok for glass bottles to be shattered all over the side walk and trash littered all around the park? Why is it okay for public intoxication at park where there are families and little children? Again, this isn’t about class status or race. It’s about respect for your environment and the people around and currently there is ZERO respect given. Why have we become so accepting of this behavior on urban Ohio?
  6. Has there been any rumors from insiders here about what’s the plan? I feel like as a city this should probably their number one priority to get a hotel locked for that site. I know conventions are the biggest revenue draw for the city and is the biggest source of outside tourists for Cincy. Almost any city you go to has a convention hotel connected to the convention center. Hell, even Dayton has one. I feel like we should be hearing more...
  7. I realized I posted this in the wrong thread originally. I don’t know if there is a dedicated eden park page or if this belongs in the walnut hills thread or mt adams thread...so apologies in advance... So disclaimer, what I am about to discuss has nothing to do with race. Again, this has nothing to do with race...but I’m sure people will start firing their labeling cannons as soon they are done reading this post. BUT, we have a serious issue with Eden Park. Serious issue. I’m not sure what changed lately with the parks policy lately. Are they understaffed? Lack of budget? Again, I don’t know what happened... At the very peak of eden park, the most beautiful spot where it overlooks the river has become destroyed. Filled with people, which is nice, but what is going on is absolutely absurd. Public intoxication with liquor bottles everywhere, loud rap music blasting from their stereos, public marijuana smoking in front of little kids. Trash filled to the brim on the side walks. Cant even walk my dogs there anymore without them almost choking on a chicken bone. Again, I don’t necessarily care if people are hanging out and having fun. But why the hell is everyone just trashing the park now? There are tons of trash cans! Use them! Also, where are the park officials to say no public intoxication? No open marijuana smoking in front of little kids? No blasting your music as if you were at a rap concerns.. I have little kids and there wondering why it smells funny or why there are people drinking liquor at a park, or why there are intoxicated guys showing off their pistols in broad day light..I don’t know what to tell them....I can’t even bring my kids there anymore...again, I’m not trying to shelter them, but at the same time there 3 and 4 and don’t need to be around stuff like that when they are still so young. Eden park uses to be a family friendly park. I don’t know what the hell happened but it has gone upside down so quickly. What the hell happened?
  8. If there is truly concerns about pedestrian access through these street eateries than the main artery streets should just become European style woonerfs. It works in Europe and there population is substantially older than ours and somehow they don’t have to worry about how to find parking on their block.
  9. I swear otr residents and otr community council always need to find something to be disgruntled about. https://www.wcpo.com/news/transportation-development/move-up-cincinnati/many-pandemic-fixes-had-unintended-consequences-streateries-were-one-of-them
  10. Obviously everyone has heard about the controversy surrounding 7-9 w. Court st. The tenants were given 30 days to vacate, as dictated by Ohio law. Obviously the media latched onto this nothing burger of a story..I feel bad for the tenants at the same time, the rules are the rules. BUT regarding the development itself, 24 luxury apartments and 6 refurbished ground floor retail spaces is a huge development for court street. That building is LARGE, so this rehab will be a strong anchor in further activating court street!
  11. Apparently on their Cincinnati library Instagram page they answered to one of the comments about the walnut street parking lot and it appears by the response from the account that there are still plans to develop that lot into, hopefully, something mixed use like you mentioned above.
  12. The rehabbed property at 1706 elm street, north of Liberty mind you, is going for a whopping 900k on Zillow. 3 bedrooms so a somewhat decent sized property, but wow, that has to be a record for asking price for a north of liberty otr property. looking at Zillow in general north of liberty property is going way up...the majority of the rehabbed homes are going for at least 500k and up. That’s nuts!
  13. the shell is a summary of what problems still exist with otr. 3cdc started working in otr around 2007-2009? It’s been roughly 12-14 years and Otr is probably only 30-35 percent rehabbed. There is still an incredible amount of crime that happens on a daily basis in otr and unfortunately there are still streets that you probably don’t want to be caught dead walking in the middle of the night on in otr. Otr isn’t that big, so it’s frustrating that so much time has passed and we are still so far away from what otr could really be. Regardless, I’m still happy with how far we’ve come with otr and I hope that progress will accelerate into the rest of south of liberty and north of liberty in the near future.
  14. It’s definitely a balance between the two. You need both residents for that consistent business but also the tourist business that helps elevate your business and allows the business owner to make on a busy weekend a month worth of rent.
  15. I think residents of otr are very stubborn on keeping it a residential neighborhood. The reality is definitely in the middle. I think it’s no doubt that the city and 3cdc wants otr to not just be a destination for Cincinnati suburbanites but also for people all over the Midwest. Otr alone has more restaurants and bars than any of Cincinnati 52 neighborhoods and if you continue the current trajectory of empty lots and vacant store fronts that will hopefully one day become activated again you will eventually triple of quadruple the amount of restaurants and bars. These restaurants and bars obviously can’t survive on catering to residents alone. The goal is to make otr a destination and the residents that live there are just part of that equation.
  16. Glad to hear that. I feel like between this proposal and the last proposal this site has been in hiatus for over 6 years.
  17. https://www.instagram.com/p/CQB0HmXhEFd/?utm_medium=copy_link it’s the little things like these that make vibrancy in a city. I’m glad to hear this will be permanent fixture as well.
  18. Was supposed to be rehabbed but the snow pack this past winter completely collapse the roof and the structure was dangerous to other nearby homes and residents.
  19. Is 3cdc not involved? Last I heard I thought they were..usually they are pretty hasty with development decisions and getting areas flipped fast.
  20. Yes but there are many out of towners renting Airbnb’s trying to explore otr and our city. Many away fans for fcc matches book hotels and Airbnb’s near otr as well. So your telling me if a tourist wants to visit otr/downtown and needs gas we should just say hey feel safe in the rest of our city, but pleas avoid our community gas station when it gets dark because there is a high chance you might be a victim or witness a crime in front of you and your family. This is such a small city thinking mentality. Otr has made such great strides in the past decade and we are finally luring people, not just from greater Cincinnati but from different states as well. These people drive cars and will need gas..but your saying we should just tell them to ignore the shell and turn a blind eye to the crime but feel comfortable during the trip in otr?
  21. And not 1 public nuisance issued. It’s just utterly ridiculous. The owner is 100 percent responsible. This is taking place on shells land territory. Any other business would’ve been shut down decades ago.
  22. I think the old vine street Kroger in otr is a good example. Back in the day that Kroger was always home to crime in that parking lot, as well as inside the store. The otr Kroger looked like trash and I think there is a correlation between people causing crime in a place that looks rough and dilapidated versus a fancy location like the court street Kroger. This goes for parks as well. There was way more crime at Washington park when it was dingy over uncared for. Then obviously 3cdc struck a deal with Kroger to build the new court street Kroger and voila like magic the crime disappeared. 3cdc needs to partner with the city and needs to either convince the owner of the shell to upgraded shell that you see in the suburbs that is much more brighter lit and has accessible Dunkin’ Donuts drive thru /subway inside, or allow 3cdc to buy the shell station and strike a deal where udf could transition into that space
  23. I get that. But when Galla park can be tried to be shut down as a public nuisance but the 20 year history of violence that has occurred at that shell is perfectly allowed is what really frustrates me. It’s like the entire community, including the city of Cincinnati and 3CDC turn a blind eye to what is occurring at that shell and near that block. Im frustrated because I know that more can be done in the mean time until the rest of otr is developed but nothing is. It’s just a total blind eye like nothing is wrong when people are being harassed when they get gas and experience some sort of outsider violence at that shell on a near daily basis.
  24. And the minute you say anything about the shell situation you get either labeled pro gentrification or a racist. Crime is crime. Don’t care what color skin you are. Kids live in otr. Families live in otr. Suburbanites visit otr. Tourists rent Airbnb’s and nearby hotels in otr. There should be a safe place for people to get gas, period, end of story. Instead that area near shell is the worst offender for crime in the entire city and nothing has been done for over 20 years. I’m tired of the bs. I’m tired of being labeled for pointing things out that are wrong. I just wish otr residents would stand up and take a stand and push for the change. The community has so much power if they come together. If otr business owners come together. If community leaders come together. Change can happen and it happens in so many other communities where bs like this doesn’t stand. Otr needs to start standing up and saying no we won’t stand for this bs any longer and really push city council to declare the shell a public nuisance until they make changes that ensures safety for everyone.
  25. I saw it on my feed (someone shared it). I’m trying to find it but I’m having no luck at the moment. I’ll try again tonight and see if I can scrounge it up.
