  1. I don’t know why 3cdc is so determined to clean up OTR and create multi million dollar advertising campaigns on luring suburbanites to otr and even potentially out of state tourists if you can’t even have a gas station that is safe enough for people to pump gas at? I know this all doesn’t fall on one party or another...that said it’s making 3cdc mission kind of fruitless if that gas station will always remain a blight and and a danger to otr and its community. Im kind of surprised that the residents of otr haven’t made a larger up roar about this? I remember there was a shooting in the mt adams UDF and there was a huge community uproar demanding more policing and for more to be done to keep that area safe. Why are the otr residents so utterly silent in this case? Many of them have the ability to start petitions and really make city council aware and create legislation to either declare the shell a public nuisance or have 24/7 policing....but yet the otr community just lets it stay this way...why?
  2. I saw on a Facebook group page that the shell gas station in otr is now hosting to half naked men doing drugs and having full fledged boxing matches... They literally beat up other cars in the process. I’m so confused as to why this part of OTR remains to be so deeply infested with crime and trash and how the shell station has been declared a public nuisance at this point. Imagine being an out of town tourist and wanting to stop for gas and seeing this crap go on? They would never return back to otr let alone downtown. 3cdc, the city of Cincinnati and all our city policing officials should feel ashamed and embarrassed on the mark this crap is leaving on our city.
  3. I just noticed the starting price is 1,195. I imagine that is for a 1 bed room..that is a great starting price in my opinion. Especially for the amount of amenities this complex has to offer. I feel this could really sell well at that price point. I was worried for a second that we would have another luxury complex that would only really apply to people who are 60K+ A year again. We need more units like these that apply to the every day working person who isn’t wealthy but middle class .
  4. https://industry-cincinnati.com/ The industry is now pre leasing. The amenities and photos look like this one of the most luxury apartments currently available in the otr/Pendleton area. I could easily see some of these units going for over 2k per month. Definitely a game changer for this area as it will bring a good amount of new residents and new commercial activity that was once a very desolate and at times dangerous area to be at. Hopefully this sells well and the developer will quickly grab the adjacent lots and build a second phase.
  5. Im confused about the 12th and 13th street project for main...that makes it sound like a new structure?
  6. Take with a grain of salt I guess but my friend who works closely with 3cdc and another real estate firm said that 3cdc is pursuing that large empty lot on court street across from the downtown Kroger. From what he said 3cdc would like to move on this site and make this a flagship hotel location on the lot. I could see theoretically why 3cdc would want a hotel there. It’s kind of in the middle between downtown and otr and close walking distance to the FCC stadium and other attractions. Fingers crossed this rumor is legit because I would love to see that lot filled!
  7. I think adding a handful of bars along court street helps with safety. The street becomes dead when the restaurants close. By adding bars to the mix you keep the pedestrian activity up until 2:30am - which means more eyes on the street and less opportunities to commit muggings/car jacking/murder
  8. 4EG is opening, “Pilar” an Ernest Hemingway - Key West themed cocktail bar in the new Court St district. Opening this July. Hopefully this is one of many new bars to find roots in court street and we can develop a new entertainment district in the process.
  9. This maybe wishful thinking on my end, but the cost to demolish a building that size has to cost a pretty penny. I just can’t imagine, western and southern who is already a cash conservative company as is would spend this kind of money on demolition without having a plan upcoming. Especially since the building wasn’t under any under emergency demo orders and was in relatively good shape....maybe the dots I’m connecting are more optimistic than realistic but I hope this is a sign of forthcoming plans from this company on their plans for the new condo towers and hq.
  10. Realistically could this court street redesign be applied to say Main Street/vine street otr without slowing traffic down? For instance this Saturday, vine street was pretty packed and it was pretty hard at some blocks to get by because of the sheer amount of pedestrians. A nice wide pedestrian street like we see with the court street redesign would be so nice to see in otr and really highlight the architecture even more so in my opinion.
  11. Update on the First Lutheran Bell Tower: Onward, Pastor Brian Ferguson (First Lutheran Church) Kristen Myers (OTR Resident and FLC Member) Paul Muller (Cincinnati Preservation Association) Danny Klingler (OTR A.D.O.P.T.)
  12. 🚧 Construction on the Court Street Plaza is wrapping up and 3CDC has planned a weekend of festivities to present the finished outdoor promenade to the community! 🚧 Stop by next weekend, June 11-13, for the unveiling of artwork, a ribbon cutting ceremony and a weekend full of music, food and other entertainment. The completed project features expanded sidewalks and outdoor dining areas, public art, new lighting, as well as other streetscape elements to bring fun events and activities to this historic business district, located between Vine and Walnut streets. 13. Probably the best news I’ve heard this week..Motr officially re-opens this weekend!
  14. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2021/06/02/downtown-cincinnati-restaurants-royce-open-former-tiffanys/7490717002/?fbclid=IwAR0nFXSmiejGRoGWIr_2OYoOHxGJ_W1ixuzIO_Tczn4Gc64FhlTLJaQ55DI Former Tiffany spot will be transformed to A French Restaurant named “Royce”. It’s the same Nashville group that is bring Pearl Star to OTR. They plan on utilizing the widen side walks to create a European atmosphere. I’m just glad we are finally gonna see some life on that corner again.
  15. Only a few more days left to donate until the decision will be made if there are enough to funds to save or demo. They are currently only 750k short but only have until June 5th to make a decision. If you haven’t donated yet, and care about preservation of OTR please donate! https://www.firstlutherancincy.org/donate More info at this fox 19 link: https://www.fox19.com/2021/06/01/clock-ticking-over-the-rhine-bell-tower-facing-demolition/?fbclid=IwAR1Dk3tmpyamUjYAGKdtRvTKz8ZC5QFvqZsWm2Bk4RiVk1I4wVEGq2YLmIY
  16. The former Moerlein Mansion on 18 mulberry street is proposed for renovations into 9 apartment units. I know this technically borders otr and mt Auburn so wasn’t technically sure where this would fall. But regardless I’m glad about the added density and to see this treasure repurposed!
  17. i guess the 2 buildings getting demolished creates enough of a warrant that something is in the works at some point since western and southern is a cash conservative company and is a bit strange they would push forward with the cost of that type of demo without some type of plan in the works.
  18. I would recommend checking out the new Somerset Bar progress on Instagram! They plan on opening End of June and are close to wrapping up. A lot of their decor is imported directly from India and will feature a decorated lawn with cinema nights on a wall projector, a green house atrium bar filled with exotic plants and a roof top bar including space below for food trucks. Very excited for the debut of this bar as it can finally introduce a little more foot traffic to a very deserted area of North of Liberty and it is shaping up to be one of the more interesting new bars otr has had in a while.
  19. Context is important here. I am happy to see activity return. I’m upset when it’s so crowded you can’t barely move and can’t patronize the businesses there. The Dora district caused a disorganized mess.
  20. I don’t blame them. I would do the same. Ad revenue is a serious profit driver and no business man worth his 2 cents would pass on that!
  21. Progress has been made but First Lutheran still needs to raise 1.6 million in donations by June 5th or else the bell tower is coming down. https://www.citybeat.com/news/blog/21151262/to-save-historic-overtherhine-bell-tower-first-lutheran-church-needs-to-raise-16-million-by-june?fbclid=IwAR0vEWh-v3MsmmJ3cGudNS27jGfMOWCJX0NGQO74jlpgNYhsQxLnsngg2OU
  22. Walked by the new redesigned court street and it looks like things are really coming together! The historical buildings on those blocks really stand out more with the redesign of the street and looks like a mini European street with a the faux woonerf. I can’t wait for 3cdc to finish rehabbing those buildings and fill court street with new tenants and really activate court street for probably the first time in decades.
  23. Yeah I would love to see the rest of the pads built out. I know it’s been a rough 2002, but I’m still not sure why some of these pads have remained vacant for so long. I guess there is no urgency but you would think outside developers would take a stab at it? You would think the banks is an attractive enough area to entice developers to build there.
  24. You would think there would be more room to walk and breathe but unfortunately it was packed like sardines. I do think this is temporary to some extent. It’s a new feature and people are excited about checking out the Dora district. I imagine over some time it will thin out.
  25. I am not complaining about night life crowds...Before when the banks was crowded it was on the side walk and it was much more organized to get from one establishment to another. This on the other hand was just a chaotic disorganized mess with no room breathe let alone walk. As what was mentioned above me it’s mainly because of how congested the bars are around there so it doesn’t give much opportunity to spread the crowd out further.
