  1. I see on Cincinnati.com their is a subscriber article about how fcc is planning to build a pocket neighborhood around the stadium. Does anyone have details on this?
  2. That would be neat..interestingly that would make it the 80th tallest building in the US at that height.
  3. I guess wlwt news anchors inaccurately reporting this tonight on air..odd.
  4. Fcc officials confirmed they will have full capacity for their stadium following the expiration of the June 2nd health mandate...I imagine most dance clubs will allow full capacity without masks like 2019. Regardless, otr is about to be packed to the brim like never before. This is very exciting for people like who me who suffered a lot of depression and anxiety during the pandemic...being able to go out with my significant other on a Saturday night was a huge way to let loose for us so it will be exciting to have that back in full force again following June 2nd!
  5. Being from Europe I sort of laugh what’s considered historic in America. A building in my city that’s 100 year old isn’t even classified as historic just labeled as an older building . Most buildings in my city in our old town are 300 to 600 years old if not older. Not saying that these buildings shouldn’t have been saved, but their is a strange obsession with historic preservation with what is classified as historic...in Europe it’s a totally different ball game.
  6. I feel like western and southern have been talking about a new hq for a decade now. hopefully maybe this is a sign that things are inching closer. that area is typically dead anyway so I can’t imagine it’s for parking and I can’t imagine the need to kick money towards costly demo if its not for something bigger planned ...at least that’s where my mindset is.
  7. I mean the goal is to get this gaps filled. That’s why following otr development is exciting because you get to witness the teeth being put back together with every new development!
  8. There are renderings of the new and improved imagination alley. looks like to be a much needed improvement and will hopefully kick out some of the shady characters that tend to linger their during late nights.
  9. weird...just doing brief research on fotofocus it seems like they are a non profit art organization...not sure how they would have the kind of funds needed to flip that site.
  10. strange they aren’t utilizing that space. You would think mad tree would love that kind of space to utilize their beer garden...
  11. pocket parks aren’t unique to Cincy. Plenty of other major cities have these. I would argue that most communities don’t like pocket parks anyways since they tend to promote loitering and drug dealing. A pocket park in general is kind of nonsense..parks are meant for recreational activity for adults and children. I don’t understand what a pocket park the size of a McDonald’s parking is supposed to help promote other than allowing your dog to take a dump.
  12. That’s beyond amazing news! The green building is one of the most gorgeous buildings in all of otr in my opinion. I’m glad that not only will it be saved and repurposed but will be repurposed with a group like mad tree that should have massive success in this kind of location. This type of development is just the kind of news we needed after hearing so many depressing stories of restaurant after restaurant shuttering during the pandemic...hopefully this is a sign of things roaring back as we begin to slowly tip toe out of the pandemic and return to a semblance of normalcy agin!
  13. Just saw that Mad Tree is taking over the Kaze space on Vine. Pretty big news and I was always wondering why mad tree didn’t have more of a presence in the urban core.
  14. Something will be built there. It’s clear fcc wants to create a bubble of some sort by the stadium so they can control the revenue stream. I’ve always been pro preservation but at the same a lot of the west end was demoed a long time ago. There were a few clusters remaining but the overall damage was done a long time ago. I know everyone was stating that progress was coming to the west end but before fcc it was still largely ignored even with the progress otr was making. I think fcc has made west end relevant to some extent and I think the hope is that it will be a catalyst for development. We are already starting to see that to some extent...and my personal optimistic outlook is that the further we become clear of this pandemic the more info we will hear trickle out on new businesses and mixed use developments pop up around the stadium.
  15. it just sounds like info that was released to soon..especially if their are other investors involved then they probably don’t want info like this circulating, especially if this isn’t going to be the design group they go with. it could be also possible that fcc isn’t done purchasing surrounding land and don’t want the land value to artificially rise because of this spec news.
  16. I’m not gonna argue with you, but anyone has been to otr plenty of times can notice the striking similarities to Europe. It’s a unique destination regardless. Not many cities have something like otr in the heart of their urban core due to urban renewal and I think most visitors will notice this uniqueness (hopefully). I think if anything it’s Cincinnati version of a European city “old town” which again, if you go to Miami, or Salt Lake, , or LA that simply doesn’t exist anymore.

  18. OTR looks like Europe though. West end stadium benefits from the beautiful architecture that surrounds it. definitely one of the most unique mls stadiums around and will be unique for most traveling fans that are visiting for the first time.
  19. Wow hope that pans through!
  20. Makes sense...I hope whatever the plan is there is some nice density and maybe height. does west end have any time of height restrictions with new builds?
  21. This is a good point. Obviously FCC can only make so much money on ticket sales/concession sales due its limitations of games/attendance. The ownership group is obviously intelligent enough to know that it would be smart to diversify their revenue stream with developing the adjacent land with mixed use development. Especially if the goal is to use the stadium for more than just fcc game day matches (which ownership has already stated that this will be the case) than it’s a no brained to quickly jump on redevelopment of the land.
  22. Seems really random...any idea what the plan is?
  23. looking at the plans more it looks like they want to create a mini banks by the stadium. My main concern is that fcc will create an island for fans and will sort of separate themselves from otr and west end.
  24. I think people here forget what other cities are like sometimes...even our worse streets are nothing compared to some other major cities.
  25. Wow! All I can hope is that the fcc haters on this sub can finally realize how much of a blessing that this occurred for otr and the west end. so much new development and new businesses are on the horizon thanks to fcc!
