  1. I just hope for more hotels in OTR. I know the hcb is paranoid with height requirements so I doubt we will ever see a massive brand name hotel in otr. That said, I think otr is special enough to be a tourist destination for many people that live our the tri state region. I was in Miami this past week and you have streets in south beach that are buzzing with activity from restaurants and bars. Sure they have the nice Art Deco buildings but all I could think was wow how bland the Architecture looks aside from the beautiful baby blue skies and palm trees. Otr keeps growing with activity thanks to the cluster of restaurants and bars and I hope with fcc more traveling opposing fans will be exposed to how beautiful and special otr is while visiting. I hope that this eventually Spurs more hotel development, even if it’s boutique hotels across otr, and eventually Spurs more tourists from outside states.
  2. I think I like it. I’m not gonna complain too much. I would much prefer this flurry of activity thanks to fcc than the dead zone this area used to be prior to fcc.
  3. I guess that side of central parkway will become fcc-village. Not necessarily a bad thing but I hope that more fcc inspired bars/restaurants/hotel projects become more spread throughout otr and not just strictly 1 street.
  4. Confused why they find to do a tear down instead of a rehab for the hotel project?
  5. Has anyone heard about the proposed hotel for 1416 central parkway? Apperantly they want to demo a section of the historic buildings on that block and from what I understand it’s a rather large hotel chain with height involved. Anyone who has additional details feel free to chime in.
  6. Um didn’t the city just get 200 million and are still gathering public input on how to spend it?
  7. I still think that a well lit and well secured surface lot is still better than a dark unlit area full of weeds and litter. At the very least I hope this will help be a catalyst to help bring more businesses into that stretch of walnut. It’s quite a dead zone on that particular block. Also, somewhat unrelated, but still any word on what the heck is going to happen with grammars bar building? I thought the whole divorce process ended a while back between the wades. I hope the building won’t just be left to rot until a collapse occurs or some drug bum decides to go inside the building a light a fire for the night.
  8. Oh...that’s a slightly disappointing. Not sure why so many larger infill projects seem to be on the back burner lately with more and more parking lot infill projects instead...
  9. Saw this on Reddit... https://m.imgur.com/dMcL73h It looks like some type of work is being done between Mecca and the bagelry on walnut st in otr. Anyone know what this is for? I don’t recall anything being announced?
  10. Random thought of the day...is Dayton considered a small mid city? I don’t know what category to put it. It’s definitely smaller than Cincy or any of the other 2 c’s in Ohio. But Dayton still feels a bit too meaty to be considered “small”. It feels like a “smid” - small mid sized city.
  11. The developer just got the final key approval today. So I’m guessing that site above is accurate to some extent. I’m just glad that eye sore of an open lot will be filled and will hopefully be a catalyst for future north of liberty development.
  12. I feel like the hype train is starting to die down with rhinegeist. Not sure why they haven’t entered the seltzer market at this point. I can’t drink ipa’s anymore or any beer for that matter. They make me gain weight like crazy and I feel so bloated and heavy.
  13. Exactly. Not sure why OTR needs more than 5 parks...granted the actual total is probably closer to 10 if you throw Pendleton into the mix. I barely know of any urban neighborhood in Cincinnati that ha so many collection of parks so I don’t understand why we must immediately think of how to redevelop these park even though you can easily walk to Ziegler and Washington park in less than 5 minutes...
  14. I hope grant park is not going to be refurbished into another park... With Washington and Ziegler park and Findlay Playground, not to mention other nearby parks it seems like a wasted opportunity for all of this supreme urban land. Grant park would be the perfect location for a huge mixed use development and would do wonders for that stretch of otr.
  15. 3cdc posted some newish stuff on their development website but nothing in regards to these north of liberty projects.
  16. That would be quite the catalyst for north of liberty, wow.
  17. It sounds like from the article above they plan on completely renovating the park - 3cdc style - hopefully on the level of Washington park and redevelop the nearby rec center on republic. Sounds also like maybe there might be some mixed use development near the park..but was kinda vague on details. They mentioned about 3cdc wanting to make the rec center a state of the art facility with potential swimming pools..I’ve never been inside the rec center so I’m not sure if it would require a tear down or if there is additional land nearby and they can extend the rec center. If nothing more I would hope 3cdc makes the facade more friendly. It currently looks like a brown prison wall. Also please leave the church steeple.
  18. Any reason specified as to why they are demolishing the hotel before they even have any plans for a new one to take its place? Before Covid wasn’t the downtown area already running low on hotel rooms available? Not sure how it’s going to be when Cincy is full of events again...heck if Cincinnati is awarded the World Cup host city bid im not sure city officials will host all the fans.
  19. Is 3cdc running low on cash? I feel there have been so many surface lot construction projects by 3cdc lately...don’t get why the can’t just go for another major project instead of going the slow burn route with more surface parking.
  20. The city is looking to shut down Galla park and label is as a public nuisance for some events that occurred the past year. The bar/club will be shut down for a year if the public nuisance is granted... This smells like bs to me...especially when the bar “privileged” has shootings in the actual bar but remains open...don’t get me started about shell....seems like some personal gain going on here...
  21. Don’t quote me, but I believe the road tripper people, the same people who are opening Somerset are also opening up the Main Street bar above.
  22. 16 bit Arcade on Walnut will close on April 16th. They will combine their currents Pins space with the arcade machines from 16 bit..similar to what they are doing in Cleveland. Kinda sad...this was an anchor for walnut street and kinda concerned about how much more dead walnut street will feel now unfortunately. Walnut street already felt somewhat sketchy to walk through at night and now it will feel even more so without that pedestrian activity coming from 16 bit.
  23. Figured I would repost this in hopes that some of y’all would like to make a pledge to save the historic bell tower of First Lutheran Church. As below in the letter, any pledge amount should be emailed to 𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐘@𝐎𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐏𝐓.𝐂𝐎𝐌 (nothing will be asked until it’s known for sure the bell tower will be saved)
  24. Last I checked you can’t even step inside, and had to order what you wanted through a gated window. They order window typically closed early to. If gas stations make their money on sell through of convenience items inside the store than I can’t imagine that location is grossing a profit. Just assuming by the target audience of that shell they are mostly selling 1 dollar tall boys and cigarillos at .79 cents per pop. There is just no way that location is making money, especially if half the residents of otr are fearful of that location and are avoiding it at all costs.
