Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I know quite a few people who donated hundreds of dollars, including myself through the church website. I would like my money back. I’ve reached out multiple times to the church and they don’t respond to my emails.

Yeah, I recommend everyone to send the pastor an email: [email protected] At the very least this might help them understand not only does this come across as super shady, but as a church group who is already struggling with attendance and financial support, this will only hurt them more in the future. Any good will or trust towards this church for future financial support will be gone..at least for the immediate community that surrounds the church.

So update on bell tower: the church leadership again denied to reconsider their stance and will proceed with demo. in the news letter sent out by the save the bell tower group it sounds like the money they raised to save the tower won’t be returned. I don’t think the church realize what they just stepped into. They literally committed fraud and could face legal action because of this. They essentially raised money to fix the tower, found an alternative plan - raised enough funds and instead said we are just going to keep all the funds and proceed with demolition of the tower. The church group can’t possibly be this dumb can they?

I will share this once more for visibility purposes. if you haven’t do so already, please email the pastor that you want the bell tower saved. One email by itself is a small droplet of water, but if many email then it becomes a roaring tide. It’s not to late! The demo people aren’t scheduled to arrive yet, so let’s do our best to reach out and save the bell tower!

2020 census data shows that otr has lost 44 percent of its black residents and now is majority white. 2020 Census data shows that OTR lost 44% of its black residents from 2010 to 2020. Now White residents = 47% vs Black Residents at 43%…compared to 2010 of 72% black residents vs. 25% white residents in 2010.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I doubt we have the income base threshold living downtown that a Whole Foods or trader joe would be looking for. the same goes for target..they typically attract a more wealthier customer base. I would love an urban Jungle Jim’s with multiple floors, but I get the impression that would never happen in a million years.

Sound to announce that, “Please” will close permanently. The owner states that it doesn’t make much sense to reopen with the ongoing pandemic and restaurant staffing crisis. Truly upset as this was one of the finest restaurants in otr if not all of Cincinnati.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Yes, but they are making the choice not to save the tower. The funds have been raised to save the tower via the new engineer report. They are declining to save the tower.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
On the website it says the money will go towards bell repairs..if bell can’t be repaired then the money will go to the church. The bell can be saved. They don’t want to. Class action lawsuit could be headed there way if they don’t return the funds raised.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I think if someone got upset enough, they could potentially pursue legal action towards the church. Church organization raises funds from Public to help save bell tower…organization raises enough funds to save bell tower…church declines to save bell tower and pockets money for donations used to save bell tower. They could be in serious legal trouble.

someone just gave grandma a grant to save her house but grandma is still declining. Makes sense.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
The church was given the opportunity to save the tower. The new engineering report allows them to save the tower. They have the funds completely allocated. The church doesn’t want to save the tower…yet they will keep all of the donations made for them to save the bell tower…can you say sketch city.

The save the bell tower team needs us to email the church leadership to save the bell tower.

Ok that’s interesting. You would think with the high mark for a cocktail and you would essentially need just 1 person running a bar on a slow day that it would prove to be profitable most times.

I see..how do steak houses like Jeff ruby generate a profit? I imagine cuts of steaks are cheap if you get it from a direct whole sale provider and those steaks can be marked up at a higher price?
-
Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Slightly off topic question..but are bars really good at generating profit? I use a spreadsheet for fun to count the number of bars in otr alone and it’s nearing 50. I’m guessing if business owners are continuously opening bars in otr then not only is there still unmet demand but must be a great business to run with solid profit margins.

I saw in the latest hcb packet for a new bar in the 1700 block of republic - great to see north of liberty stretch of republic potentially getting some additional foot traffic in the near future.

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
haha love this. Not only will it add some glam and spark to the exterior of the foundry but it will be such a boost for foot traffic for fountain square.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I mean the anchor tenants in this scenario are the Icon Music Center, Reds Stadium, Bengals Stadium, and the Freedom Center (to some extent) and maybe Smale Park (definitely popular with the families). I don’t see much of those anchor tenants leaving (aside from maybe the bengals but even then that would open the door to do something with either the stadium or the lot it sits on.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Is that really necessary if Newport aquarium fills that attraction need? I do agree that the banks is more of an entertainment destination. I still think that a Ferris wheel should be built, it looked so good in our skyline when it was there. Aside from that, I do think a food hall - high end boutique grocery store like Dayton’s Dorthy Lane stores could work extremely well at the banks.

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
That’s great news. Jeff Ruby is obviously one of Cincinnati’s Crown Jewels as far as restaurants go. They always draw a crowd and always generate revenue. So this will be such a positive addition to the urban core. Very happy Jeff ruby is investing like this in our urban core!
-
Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
The best part about this new development is that Jeff ruby will act as the anchor tenant which will make it so much easier to fill out the remaining spaces for the foundry. You know that this new Jeff ruby spot will get a crap ton of traffic and consecutively be book well in advance for months, which means that any new prospective restaurant /bar will probably be eager to grab the remaining spaces so they can grab a piece of that foot traffic that Jeff ruby will easily generate.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Troeros2 replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentOh that’s neat ^ I’m guessing I could say I want bbq rib sandwich and they can cook it on the spot? Or is it very specific meats you can request for them to grill?

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Troeros2 replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentI have shockingly never tried Avril. It’s on wish list for sure. Do they serve more to go food than just hot dogs though? I couldn’t really from their website if they have a full fledged carry out menu or if it was more geared towards simply being a butcher shop.
