Same here. The Architect in me was hoping for something more iconic instead of this mirrored wedge crown.... Something like the form in this light bollard would have been badass. Of course I'm excited to get a new tower in downtown and that the windswept parking lots with trashnados (KJP term) are being eliminated.

Agree and I can't wait for this last piece of the Main and Main to have new life. Is there anything NOT to love about this intersection. If you would have told me 15 years ago this intersection would look like the photo below and Huntington on its way, I'd thought you were crazy.

Purely based on the massing, I am not in favor of that design. It looks like a giant ice cream sandwich with two angle ends. To me it seems too disjointed with the angles going in opposite directions. Hopefully the choice of exterior materials will help improve the look, as I agree with MRNYC, materials can greatly change the look.

Totally agree! There should be some material overlap to tie the two together. Just because they are different uses doesn't mean they have to look completely different. It's like the top portion was added on to a building built 20 years ago.- Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News

So we essentially are still left with a wasteland in terms of street activity separating the Warehouse District from Public Square...sheesh. Most employees will park at the garage with direct access to the buildings, including the bridge. I know the north half of the property is planned to be developed to cut down on that wasteland, but a bit of a let down. Man do I wish the Weston development had moved forward! I'm certainly not dismissing the impact of retaining all the SW jobs in Cleveland, but we all wanted more. I guess the most likely way we would have gotten street level public amenities is if a developer built a skyscraper and SW was the major tenant?- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters

More often than not, it's cheaper to build new. Trying to build within an existing old structure is difficult and you don't have the added demolition costs. Also, this building is more spread out compared to the more vertical Lumen, where its more cost effective to stack utilities etc. I'm also guessing that cost includes a hefty contingency line item to deal with unknowns or surprises during construction.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Kohn Pedersen Fox has always been a favorite of mine. Would love to see something like their supertall designs, but on a smaller scale obviously for this tower. Agree that no contractors have been selected yet as the project is many months if not a year away from bidding. As for the engineering team, that's not entirely true all the time. Usually when an Architect submits a proposal or responds to an RFQ, they already have their design team (engineers, third party estimators, etc) already on board or established behind the scenes. The entire design team is not necessarily announced along with the architect.
