Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
Just a little thread bump. I wish we could fast forward to the completion of this building.

Cleveland: Downtown: Hilton Cleveland
IIRC, the Marriott is 29 story's and 400 rooms/suites. I used the Marriott and other hotels as visuals and that is why I'm having trouble visualizing the height and boundaries. The marriott is taller and has less rooms, granted I don't think the foot print is the same. We have to also think about a lobby, bar & restaurant(s), convention services/ballrooms, pool, gym, spa, business center, etc. Not to mention a floor or half floor for an elite level lounge. Probably makes sense to table all this height talk until we actually get some design renderings.

A good visual height comparison might be the Marriot tower at Key.

^Maybe extend the option for another year?

Cleveland: Downtown: A.J. Celebrezze Federal Building Renovation
This application at least serves a purpose while also not really changing the appearance of the building. I wonder if that is what people were saying back in the 60's and 70's when they started covering up Schofield, John Hartness etc.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
If You Build It, They Will Come: How Cleveland Lured Young Professionals Downtown When the Maron family decided to redevelop an entire city block in downtown Cleveland, the area was so blighted no restaurateur would lease space there. A decade later, the East Fourth neighborhood is home to Food Network personalities, a House of Blues, and free Saturday yoga classes. Café-style seating spills into the pedestrian-only street. Apartments on the block are fully leased, and a 100-unit building under construction across the street has already reached full capacity. The success of East Fourth Street in once-struggling Cleveland was something few people would have anticipated 20 years ago. It took years of collaboration between developers, businesses, local institutions, and government, but today downtown Cleveland is taking off—and giving the old Rust Belt city a future. There wasn't a market for urban living in Cleveland until developers like the Marons built places where young professionals would want to be. "Employers are looking for fresh, vibrant urban environments," says Chris Warren, the city's chief of regional development. "Cleveland needs to compete." Until recently, Cleveland was on the sidelines. The city's population has dropped by one-third since 1950. Although Cleveland includes two neighborhoods that are among Ohio's top five employment centers, tax revenues from incomes go primarily to the suburbs where most employees live. As recently as 2011, about one-third of city residents lived in poverty. http://www.theatlanticcities.com/jobs-and-economy/2013/08/if-you-build-it-they-will-come-how-cleveland-lured-young-professionals-downtown/6406/

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
I'm guessing the downtown skywalks thread was deleted during the Great Crash but thought this location could work as well. Forest City closes $79 million sale of Higbee Building to Rock Ohio Caesars, paving way for skywalk CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A casino developer now owns the historic downtown department store where Cleveland's Horseshoe Casino opened last year Rock Ohio Caesars LLC, the casino developer, announced this morning that it has closed on a long-discussed purchase of the Higbee Building at downtown Cleveland's Tower City complex. The deal makes way for construction of a controversial skywalk, between the casino and a nearby parking garage, to start this month. The 170-foot, glass-enclosed walkway will span the intersection of Ontario Street and Prospect Avenue and will link the second floor of the casino to its dedicated garage and valet center. To build the skywalk, Rock Ohio Caesars had to purchase Higbee and to ensure that investors in historic preservation tax credits on the building were repaid. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2013/08/forest_city_closes_79_million.html#incart_river_default

Don't ya remember the mockup? It didn't look like a grocery store per se, but more like a common area with food kiosks. Even so and I agree with Hts121...no thanks. A high end restaurant would sure be sexy in that space.- ColDay2013: Boston
Great photo set. You sure travel a lot. Same street... 107 years ago.- Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
Thanks MTS! I was expecting that in depth response from you. So maybe a Palomar would be nice.- Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
So of all the Kimpton hotel brands, which one is preferred? Is one more upscale than the other? I recall up thread awhile ago that this is planned to be a 3 star? I've never stayed at a Kimpton run hotel so I have no idea.- Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
I would have preferred more of the building be constructed closer to Chester. Then place the large patio from the corner of Chester/Dodge heading south along Dodge.- Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
What do you mean by old surface lot? It is to be built on an old surface parking lot.- Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
Public Meeting for the Skate Park 6:30 PM Wednesday July 24th, 2013 Rivergate Cafe at Rivergate Park 1785 Merwin Ave Cleveland, OH The Crooked River Skate Park has run into problems with underground structures on the site. The current snake run design cannot be built as conceived on the site and the City and Grindline have prepared some options that can allow the park to move forward. One option is moving the park away from the waterfront to an area with less water table issues and no underground structures. The other is to redesign the park to be more above ground and keep it at the original site. http://www.publicsquaregroup.org/events-calendar?eventId=721552&EventViewMode=EventDetails- Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
I am shocked at the pure volume of positive comments on Cleveland.bomb at the end of this article. I've never witnessed that before.- Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
No street facing parking! YES! Another plus....this plan does not demolish an existing building and replaces a surface parking lot.- Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
There is no other conversations on that tweet. I'm not excited about the location. The Hermit Club building is cool and I assume they might add on to it but the location is tucked away. Maybe this will bring some life to Chester.- Cleveland: University Circle: Centric Development (formerly Intesa)

The Properties Magazine construction progress report notes that the developer is seeking tenants and construction possible for late 2013. Hopefully they line up tenants soon as I'm guessing this doesn't start until next year.- Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
