  1. Yes it works out pretty much anywhere. I am just saying the asphalt breaks down faster than just concrete.
  2. Thanks! Hope you're right...I prefer asphalt. Why? So the road can become filled with potholes after 5 years of freeze/thaw? One can safely assume they would be filled as they develop but it is not very attractive.
  3. What did you do repel down from the Main Ave. bridge?
  4. ^As well as getting blinded when the sun hits those in the right spot and burns out your retina. They could have done something similar to the two towers between the Q and Progressive.
  5. I've been getting mine from www.shorpy.com Love this website as there are tons of high resolution photos from the late 19th century to early 20th century. Scroll down to the City Galleries on the right side of the webpage.
  6. ^^Same area...different view
  7. The website article has an editor's note on the cover photo: Editor's Note: In the October print edition we inadvertently published an outdated aerial photograph of Cleveland. We have posted a current photo above. http://archrecord.construction.com/features/2012/American-City/Cleveland/Cleveland-Ohio.asp
  8. ^Just saw this article in the latest Record. You aren't kidding about the cover picture. What the hell! Why on earth would they use a picture from 1985! Interesting that the article is written by Steven Litt for the magazine. He called the Rock Hall, "a mediocre building plopped on the drab lakefront."
  9. Street Smart: How to Create a City Within a City Cleveland's three largest employers—Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic, and University Hospitals—sit just shy of East Cleveland, the most bombed-out part of town, where foreclosures and population decline have taken the highest toll. Also clustered around this section of Euclid Avenue, called Greater University Circle, are thriving cultural institutions. Severance Hall is home to the Cleveland Orchestra, arguably the country's best. Then there's the Cleveland Museum of Art, a 1916 Beaux-Arts building with additions by Marcel Breuer and, most recently, Rafael Viñoly. The Cleveland Institute of Art, a college of art and design, will undergo a $5 million expansion to be completed by late 2014. http://archrecord.construction.com/projects/portfolio/2012/10/Uptown-Cleveland-Stanley-Saitowitz.asp
  10. ^I am doing this also and have found 124 out of 125. But the one remaining hasn't been found by anyone else either. It is fun, addicting and challenging. It has certainly opened me up to interesting details that exist in Cleveland. There are three indoors by the way. I can give you some hints if you want to message me.
  11. ^Probably to lower each section of the tower crane during the disassembly.
  12. ^I don't know if those are bleachers but they are emergency egress stairs out of the ball room & support areas below Mall C.

May as well hit the other sites. Go to Union Square, ride the cable cars, climb to the top of Coit Tower, visit Lombard Street, Golden Gate Park etc.
  14. New event aims to put flats' rivergate on map as a recreation destination http://www.freshwatercleveland.com/forgood/rollinontheriver092012.aspx Mention Rivergate Park in the Flats in conversation and you'll likely be met with blank looks. Yet an eclectic alliance of skateboarders, cyclists and urban recreation groups are trying to change that with Rollin' on the River, an event that aims to put Rivergate on the map as a recreation destination. Rollin' on the River, which takes place Saturday, September 29th at 1785 Merwin Avenue, will bring together skateboarding, cycling and music for an afternoon of fun

I currently live in Parma and have no complaints. The street I live on is wonderful with great neighbors. That can't be said for all streets so if you decide to rent or buy in Parma, check out the neighbor situation. Some can definitely be less desirable. Not sure about the quality of the schools however.
  16. US: 1. San Francisco 2. Boston 3. Charleston,SC 4. Cleveland 5. Portsmouth, NH World: 1. Florence (if my screen name is any clue) 2. Barcelona 3. Prague 4. Salzburg 5. Vernazza, Italy
  17. I took a tour of the facility today. You can see my construction pics from May here: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,27304.0.html Enjoy! The green drywall is the corridor with display rooms on each side. They have driven fully loaded cement trucks over the large white blocks. It is intended to cut down on the roof weight instead of filling it all with soil. One person can move a block and leave a fingernail indent, yet the compressive strength is re-God-damn-diculous. Up on the main entry roof ramp with views at the top.
  18. I took another tour of the CCMM today. 31 conferences have been book so far with about half being medical related. MM has 20 signed leases covering about 40% of the space. Some heavy weight names were mentioned as ones we are likely to see there...Siemens, Phillips etc. They also plan to have '"room of the future" type areas. I don't recall this thought before or maybe I'm recalling that mentioned with that project in Tennessee. They are ahead of schedule (which we all know) and actually under budget right now. One of two connecting stair/hallways to the PA Views from on top of the raised mall area at the main entry. I'll post more in the Photos threads.
  19. I would hope those windows are fairly sound proof. I'd hate to be sleeping in a room near the Shoreway and hear the roar of traffic all night.
  20. I took a tour on the Holiday boat on August 31st. Unfortunately the sunset didn't coorperate but it was still Navy week and the Blue Moon made an appearance. Enjoy! Blue Moon making an appearance. Lollypop moon
  21. ^It is a great shot and I'd be willing to bet KJP camped out until one passed by to get the picture.
  22. http://apps1.mmart.com/cmmc/ The CCMM website has an interactive floor plan now to view room sizes and get a 3D perspective of a some of the rooms.
  23. And it stands for Transit Oriented Development. But Design fits too.
  24. Does the GOP article mentioning ending Amtrak subsidies essentially pull this 20 MM funding rug out from under the Cleveland station project?
