Cleveland Casino site and environs
^Sorry, no disrespect intended. Now will it be known locally as the 'shoe, sort of like the 'Q' Arena?

Cleveland Casino site and environs
Maybe we just need to get a few of use out there everynight with flashlights until they get the hint! :-P Agree. I wish the rest of Tower City was lit up like the Shoe in the Hig.

The line to get in is still past the Tower City valet parking on Prospect.

^ Same here. Working late so I may just do a drive by on my way home. I'm sure there will be the 'batman' spotlight spinning through the sky as well.

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
I'd say pure coincidence. I doubt you'll see a Casino Total Rewards voucher for Constantino's anytime soon.

Cleveland Photographic Society: Downtown Scavenger Hunt
I am a member of the club and am participating. Between a friend of mine and myself, we have 51 of 75. It is a lot of fun and I'm really becoming familiar with all the buildings within the map zone. I just need the time to take the pictures and submit. I've only submitted 22 so far. A hint is to look for as many as you can through Google street views (which can be very addicting). Mark them on a map and then when downtown, you can just go from spot to spot taking your pictures.

Well, I'm not sure if THEY can... but WE certainly will: http://www.riderta.com/casino Thanks for posting that...:-) That's great how the RTA site has all those links to the nearby attractions. Well done!

Now we know its going to happen...The big question is WHEN? I'm sure when phase I open next and they see the crowd demand is so high ..push to begin phase II would be sooner than later http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2012/05/gilbert_asks_for_patience_with.html •Gilbert assured skeptics that Rock Ohio will proceed with a proposed casino expansion. He did not give a timetable but said the site, overlooking the Cuyahoga River, has complications that will prolong development. "We bought that land for $85 million," Gilbert said. "We're absolutely building Phase 2." The big question is how long will these complications prolong development.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I like the design as the building aesthetics are a lot better than the majority of Cleveland's Modernist, cereal box type mid-rise towers of the 60's and 70's. (Erieview, Federal DFAS, East Ohio, PNC etc.) The building sort of has a typical KPF design look to it, which I like.

Cleveland: MOCA
Farshid Moussavi's Cleveland Museum to Open in October Construction is progressing on the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, the London architect’s first United States project. Farshid Moussavi's new home for the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (MOCA) is nearing completion in the city's emerging Uptown district. The 34,000-square-foot, four-story building anchors a key intersection in an area that's part of University Circle, a cultural hub with institutions such as the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and Case Western Reserve University. http://archrecord.construction.com/news/2012/05/Museum-of-Contemporary-Art-Cleveland.asp

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I had the chance to see the MM and CC earlier today on a guided tour by Dave Johnson, MMPI's Director of Public Relations. Due to my love for Cleveland, excitement for this project and knowledge that project photo updates are like heroin to us fellow UO'ers, I took over 90 pictures. I will post some but not all of those on this thread, but maybe a MMCC mega thread in the photo section will follow. Dave Johnson was enthusiastic about what the new mall space can do for Cleveland. Specifically he mentioned that intent of connecting PS through to the malls and then on to the RRHOF. He mentioned an intent to close Rockwell at the end of Mall A and turning into a landscaped extension of the Mall. He also touched on his hope of the Intermodal Station being constructed at some point. Also it'll be important to get the project done in time for use by the 2013 National Senior Olympic Games ( didn't know that existed) A few tidbits about progress: The Medical Mart has 7000 tons of steel. 98% of all demolished material was recycled in some form. 25% of all demolished steel was recycled for use in the MMCC, Flats East, Casino and Innerbelt Bridge. All the steel is made in the USA. The nice weather has permitted them to erect the steel so fast that the mills can not keep up. They hope to attract 60 conventions a year. Once completed, the MM will also be available for use by the public for weddings, proms, music events etc. They are ahead of schedule and project a July opening. On to the pictures: Still work required on Public Auditorium Mockup panel At least it is a happy jobsite  The Ball Room Check the photos section for the entire album.

^^ I agree but maybe they should take some of the scale out of the electrified billboard and throw it at those flags.

Cleveland: Downtown: Truman Building & Security Federal Building Restoration
^ And we have now come full circle. It only took over 90 years to do it. Next hopefully the E12th/Chester area can continue it's transformation.

IIRC, KJP mentioned that Jake's on the corner of Ontario & S. Roadway was thinking of staying open either 24 hrs. or way into the morning hours.

Last sentence in that article.....“Now’s the time to go to Cleveland.” Isn't that the truth!

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
^That is what I recall as well. There really is no money for the Mall landscaping to do it right, which sucks. Maybe in phases as private/corporate donations become available. Hopefully it doesn't become one large billboard. The Key Bank volleyball courts. This garbage can sponsored by Medical Mutual......

^^ What development is this referring to? “The phone has been ringing off the hook” with inquiries about the retail component of the multimillion-dollar condo and apartment complex on Public Square, he said. He expects to conclude leases soon, although many prospects want to wait until after the casino opens." Is that the RTA Westside transit center?

While I don't mind the new layout, I'd MUCH prefer the density of the original layout as proposed back in 2005. See page 5 post by Mayday. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,1823.120.html

MTS I'm not talking about that street market. Since the building is historic, they couldn't remove that anyway. As a Clevelander, I feel there should have been something to note this is "Clevelands" casino in the Marque signage itself. I agree it would have been nice to have Cleveland in the name, even if it is in a smaller font. But is it really typical for casinos to have the city name in the signage?

Is there a designated 'main entry' to the casino? Is the PS entry below the canopy the main entry or are there other entry points that all act as main entries? If it is the PS side, I hope they'll improve the look of the large canopy over the doors.
