He probably feels new residents will more likely want to live down there if there is development potential for the neighborhood to extend to the lake. Similar development that has been studied by Stark and Eckstut.

I like you thought process! Except I see it this way. The project is in the planning stages, renderings, models and drawings complete, project is about to get under construction ............. and the economy tanks again and Hines merges with K&D Group :whip: Damn development company mergers! Que the violin. Then the renderings and pictures of the model are sent to www.clevelandskyscrapers.com to the "Unbuilt Cleveland Skyscrapers" page. Then it's back to more nights at the bar drinking away the "what could have been" sorrows :drunk:

Campbell's popcorn and sweets opens in ohio city's ever-expanding foodie district Campbell's Popcorn and Sweets has opened a new factory store in Ohio City's Market District, at which customers can watch the production of its signature products as well as sample tasty, unusual flavors such as garlic parmesan, dill pickle and barbeque. Owner Jeff Campbell says he decided to expand in Ohio City because of the loyal customers he's generated at his West Side Market stand, which has seen 25 percent annual growth since he opened it in 2004. http://www.freshwatercleveland.com/devnews/campbellspopcornandsweets090111.aspx Source: Jeff Campbell Writer: Lee Chilcote The transformation continues - Cleveland: "The Avengers" Picture Thread *SPOILER ALERT*
I like how they even transformed an RTA bus into a Stuttgart bus.- TT observation deck
It's a good thing those Warehouse District developers decided to sow the seeds of love for those buildings!- TT observation deck
Thanks! I was up there on Sunday on the 32nd floor after taking the elevator down from the observation deck at 42. The whole floor is practically under renovation so I was able to grab the picture since nobody was around.- TT observation deck

- Today, I Overheard Someone in my City Say...
Overheard this guy talking to a friend back home.....must have been a coastal city as he talked about surfing. Anyway he said twice during the conversation about the things he did during the day and that "Cleveland is really fun" Spreading the good word.- Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion

A few from this afternoon... about where you'll see the tower from the City Hall parking deck.. cell phone camera did some trippy things to this photo.. Big Red moving some forms...she's quite graceful I must say.- Cleveland: MOCA
As a general thought, this building always seems too small to me. You figure almost one whole floor will be devoted to admin. office, storage, art prep, etc., that only leaves three floors. And there really is no opportunity for expansion. But I'm not the one running MOCA or know of their true space needs. So who am I to judge.- Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I think I saw some workers hanging another guy up by his underwear and they were swinging him around on it. It's being put to good use. That must be a rookie iron worker's initiation hazing.- Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Cleveland review bodies are winging it on the traffic impact of Rock Gaming's downtown casino By Steven Litt, The Plain Dealer The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The omnibus city planning review session Friday on the welcome center and overhead walkway for the new Caesars Horseshoe casino downtown offered stark evidence of the city’s willingness to play nice with Rock Gaming LLC, the project’s developer. It also underscored the philosophical distance that separates Cleveland from cities with stronger design cultures, such as Chicago, San Francisco or Barcelona, Spain. http://blog.cleveland.com/architecture/2011/08/cleveland_review_bodies_are_wi.html As usual the comments on the article are crazy. They morph into ripping on the Euclid Corridor project.- Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
I'm guessing Drop Bar is the old Mercury Lounge?- What got you so damn interested in cities in the first place?
Going to NYC when I was about 10 yrs old and just fascinated with the scale of it. Also learned how to draw buildings in 3D, which prompted me in 3rd grade to draw a skyscraper out of 3 sheets of note book paper taped together. From there for the next several years I would add paper to the right and eventually drew an entire city! My urban planning skills left a lot to be desired at such a young age as can be expected. As like W28th, a semester in Florence, Italy and traveling Europe only intensified the interest in cities.- Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Someone brought that up earlier in the thread. But it was also said that the crane will probably be a good 30 to 50 feet taller than the actual building height. With that said the final height will probably be in the 330 to 350 range. Im pretty sure thats what Firenze98 is already saying. Bingo! - Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
