Deathless Detroit
At first glance, this building in the center of the photo kind of looks like the Breuer Tower in Cleveland

Today, I Overheard Someone in my City Say...
I went to a comedy show last night at Hilarities. I, along with the group I was with, were pleasantly suprised to see the pedestrian traffic and activity on East 4th at 10:30pm. Of course many of those friends hadn't been downtown in a LONG time to fully grasp the changes. The Indians game may have had something to do with the activity, but I didn't get that feel. One of my friends said, "hmm this is nice, reminds me of a street in San Diego". So I figured perfect oportunity to play quasi Cleveland ambassodor and inform them of the projects going on and that it's not just this area that has changed. I mentioned Flats East bank and most were like, "I wouldn't want to live down here...who wants to live by the river, it's dangerous down here" yada yada yada. I did my best to change their perception and that many people actually DO live downtown and that many more will most likely move in as well. Also, that it's not as dangerous as many years ago. Of course as we walked back to our cars, two shade guys wearing black robes with black and gold hoods like they just warped here from the movie Star Wars didn't help the dangerous perception, but at least they witnessed first hand the improved image of Cleveland.

That moon is sweet. Speaking of sweet, it looks like a lollypop with that crane or antenna mast just underneath it propping it up.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Ah.. the rain for rent might be a way to control erosion/dust or recycle water for whatever reason as a way of gaining a LEED credit for the site. Just a thought.

What the blue trailers on site? Diesel fuel tanks? Good point Murray Hill. We could have an archealogical dig on our hands soon.

Very nice town and great way to capture its charm. It is like the hotel is trying to become the Mackinac Island, Grand Hotel of NY.... nice try- Cleveland Browns Discussion
I'm with you on this. 10-6 is mine too based on that brutal schedule and hype. They could have easily been 12-4 had the Arizona game been ruled differently and they didn't lose the lead in Sh!tsburgh- Barcelona
I visited this city during spring break while studying abroad in '98 and loved it also! Great pictures. Did you go to the top of one of the spires at La Sangrada Familia? There were great views from there and the spiral stair down gives you a bit of vertigo. Also, did you go to the Alahambra in Granada? I visted that place after Barcelona and loved it too!- Cleveland: 1985
i"m always amazed to see the before pictures of the power house before the transformation- Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
That quote makes me want to vomit in my mouth.- Transit "Back in the Day" / Lessons Learned?
are you referring to this bridge currently used as a pedestrian bridge in Gates Mills?- Cleveland: Flats East Bank
They are using a mat foundation for that building? That can get expensive- Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I think the same thing... Or MayDay has a superman cape and flies through the sky from location to location...a cape with an UO logo on of course - One Night in Cleveland - Part 6
Cleveland's new ambassador andrew - One Night in Cleveland - Part 5
I wish they could clean the exterior of the monument like they did the Old Stone Church at Public Square.- Transit "Back in the Day" / Lessons Learned?
I used to work at Fowler's Mills Golf Course out in Chesterland. The old path to Middlefield would pass right through the course, cross the 18th fairway then along side and continue across the 17th. I always tried to imagine the interurbans rumbling through there. There actually used to be a stop at Caves Road in Chesterland, as it was sort of a tourist stop to explore the caves there.. Interesting. - Chautauqua, New York
