  1. I've been a little worried that something could happen with the federal funding part of the equation that could delay this project. There's a quote in The Dispatch that helps put my mind at ease a little bit... "The first phase of the project is not dependent on Congress passing legislation that provides incentives for chipmakers to bring production back to the U.S."
  2. That will be an auto parts store
  3. Apparently, Intel will make the official announcement on January 21. "Several sources tell the Ohio Public Radio Statehouse News Bureau that Intel will build a $1 billion chip plant near New Albany, with an official announcement expected on January 21." https://news.wosu.org/2022-01-14/billion-dollar-semiconductor-chip-factory-headed-for-new-albany
  4. I was just looking at this area on a map. The land that's being annexed for this will come real close to connecting New Albany to Johnstown.
  5. It sounds like it has been confirmed. This is HUGE news for the Columbus Metro!
  6. According to a Columbus newscast earlier tonight- it's Intel and it apparently has been confirmed! https://www.nbc4i.com/news/local-news/new-albany/massive-computer-chip-factory-coming-to-new-albany-township-trustee-confirms/
  7. According to a few reports, it is confirmed! "Jersey Township trustee Ben Pieper confirmed to NBC4 Thursday afternoon that a nearly 3,200-acre area northeast of Columbus in Licking County will become a massive computer chip factory." https://www.nbc4i.com/news/local-news/new-albany/massive-computer-chip-factory-coming-to-new-albany-township-trustee-confirms/
  8. The Dispatch is reporting that more jobs and a 90 ft tower are coming to the southwest side of Delaware. "A company operating in Delaware's Industrial Park since 1968 has a green light to build an addition that will increase employment in 2023, eventually adding 25 new jobs. Delaware City Council in December approved two ordinances to allow Sam Dong Ohio Inc., 801 Pittsburgh Drive, to construct a 90-foot tower that will be used to manufacture copper wire for use in electric and hybrid vehicles." (Apologies if behind paywall) https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/local/communities/delaware/2022/01/05/sam-dong-ohio-delaware-gets-abatement-and-approval-construct-tower-manufacture-copper-wire/9105385002/
  9. CBF is reporting BJ's Wholesale Club is re-entering the Columbus Market with a new location at Hamilton Quarter. "BJ’s Wholesale Club is coming back to Columbus. The Westborough, Massachusetts-based retailer is building a new store in Hamilton Quarter near New Albany." https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2022/01/07/bjs-wholesale-club-coming-to-hamilton-quarter.html
  10. The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that reconstruction of The Golden Bear Center is now expected to start this spring. (Sorry- only link I have probably has a paywall) https://dispatch-oh.newsmemory.com/?token=b021af87553c174c6754960e41a884bc&cnum=0b7d0e5f-fe67-eb11-9acf-90b11c3bc1f2&fod=1111111STD-0&selDate=20220107&licenseType=paid_subscriber&
  11. CBF is reporting that Carvana plans to redevelop the former Magic Mountain Fun Center on Polaris. They plan on having a Carvana vending machine on site as well. "The used-car sales company plans to allocate about 5.4 acres of the 7.77 acres at 8350 Lyra Dr., for its next vending machine fulfillment center, according to the agenda for Columbus City Council's Monday evening zoning committee meeting. The remaining portion of the land would be designated for unspecified future commercial development, according to the agenda." https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2021/12/13/magic-mountain-fun-center-becoming-carvana-site.html
  12. Another view I've really been noticing lately is how Jeffrey Park looks now from spots along Cleveland Ave (kind of near the old bakery) and from a couple different spots along 670. They're currently developing the part of the property that's closest to the freeway, so it's really becoming noticeable from a few different spots in that area!
  13. I was discussing grocery stores in Cbus with someone on Columbus Reddit a few months back and tried to get a generic count of how many locations each major brand has in Franklin County. I was kind of surprised how many Aldi there are in the county because it doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of them... I came up with this rough count: 52 Kroger - 14 Aldi - 13 Giant Eagle - 10 Walmart - 9 Target - 9 Meijer - 4 Fresh Thyme - 3 Whole Foods - 2 Saraga (I think we included a few locations outside of Franklin County if they were real close to the border, like the Meijer and WalMart in Lewis Center were included, even though they're just outside of the Franklin County line.)
  14. A great example of this... I was in New Albany a few months ago for the first time in well over ten years, and holy $hit- what a difference! I honestly couldn't believe how much the entire northeast corner of Franklin County has grown since the last time I had been there. The Central Ohio region is booming and it feels like it's about to hit a whole nother level soon!
  15. Apparently some of the anti-whalers are starting more rumors! Lol https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2021/12/03/giant-eagle-trader-joes-not-eyeing-former-grocer.html
  16. It will... But they will both still add some depth to the skyline. We need that.
  17. We live in Merion Village and are all for more of these to fill a few of the empty lots that are left around the neighborhood.
  18. Since it's in that area, thought I'd mention that I had to spend some time in the Little Turtle area a couple weeks ago. I wasn't real familiar with Little Turtle until then, but that's a pretty cool little neighborhood. If you haven't had a chance to drive back through there, you really should check it out. I would think it's a nightmare trying to get up some of those steep inclines in the winter when it's icy out though.
  19. I read that it will be around 40 total buildings when completely built out... Arlington Gateway is basically right next to this as well. Lane Ave through there will look drastically different in ten years!
  20. I noticed yesterday, electric crews were finally taking the electric wires down that ran right through the middle of the property at 4th and 5th! It seemed like it took a long time but at least they're finally getting them out of there so hopefully this can go vertical rather soon.
  21. I've always thought something like a big, colorful "Columbus" should be painted on the Franklinton floodwall where it runs along 71 between Greenlawn and 104
  22. Somebody else posted this link a week or so ago: https://buildingthefuture.osu.edu/energy-advancement-and-innovation-center
  23. Atlanta-based real estate firm TPA Ventures is planning a 103.2-acre industrial park near Hilliard. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2021/11/16/tpa-ventures-hilliard-industrial-park.html
