Cleveland: Downtown Cleveland Alliance News & Discussion
Hopefully involvement and support from the business communities will make a difference this time. I'm always curious, was there any hint where NOACA wanted the multimodal facility? Or since this is currently just for expanded service on the existing lines the assumption is moving forward with the lakefront station? At least for the time being.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
I saw a report that the front office believes that they'll have their young core intact with majors experience ascending when the rest of the division is regressing. Which shouldn't be all that surprising, this is how they've operated. The difference will be, this time we'll have that Blitzer money behind the team during this run so hopefully we can keep the core together longer and make a play at a big name if needed.

He's aware. Ken heard about a Ford project before they announced they were making upgrades to their Avon facility. After it was assumed that initial rumor was referring to the Avon plant, but never confirmed.

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
Think this goes a long way in making that happen. If the streetscape is unwelcoming and harsh people aren't going to want to walk in that area. I would also think this helps with foot traffic inside of Tower City. It has been a mistake for them to wait this long to improve the streetscapes of their buildings. If the areas around the entrances are harsh and uninviting people won't enter. This will make them more welcoming, hopefully pulling more people in. And as stated before, if it's more walkable your more likely to get people to pop in than if they're sitting in their car at a light on public square.

Bury the lines! We shouldn't have tree on only one side of the street. (Outrage not directed at you, @cadmen)

If there's more you could do, I'm not sure what it is. Maybe someone else has some ideas, but keep up the pressure! Any more of these meetings coming up? I'm in Lakewood too.

Have you sent to the members of Lakewood City Council? (https://www.lakewoodoh.gov/lakewood-city-council/) You could also include other members of the City government; Mayor, Community Development, Housing & Building, Planning & Development. (https://www.lakewoodoh.gov/directory/)

I've ordered from Ohio Prairie Nursery before, they have a lot of different mixes--native grass, clover lawn, wildflowers for wetlands, woodlands, and flowerbeds. There are other Ohio based options, but this was the best online ordering option I found when I was looking around a month or so ago. https://www.opnseed.com/

However, there is a new administration and trees, being what they are, take time to establish themselves and for the benefits to be seen. The administration is taking a new approach and are seeking citizen involvement so I'm going to push this again because I think there are a lot of good candidates here at UO for the Commission (@Ethan). The application does not take too long to complete, I did it yesterday from my phone (though I would recommend using your computer).

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Well there are no major cities on the Canadian coast of Lake Erie so... But why would we limit it to Lake Erie only? Chicago, Milwaukee, Toronto... All cities on the Great Lakes with good lakefront utilization.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park
I had car camping in mind, FWIW, but I don't think it really makes much of a difference to your considerations. Car campgrounds are frequently patrolled and I'm sure the Brecksville and Bedford police have the capacity to make a lap to supplement any monitoring that would be done by Metroparks rangers. Just absurd.

Thanks for the follow up and passing along. Absolutely hate the reasoning, though it's not surprising really at all.

Cleveland: Shaker Square: Development and News
Part of Shaker Squares problem is the poor use of space. Having Shaker Blvd run through the middle of the square is the strangest decision to me; you split the square into 4 green spaces from 2, severely limiting their use and functionality. Also, assuming the square should function like a traffic circle, it messes with traffic flow around the circle while also making it harder for pedestrians to navigate on foot. To your point about Larchmere, they should really be working to create a strong pedestrian corridor from the Square to Larchmere, and really beyond to Fairhill Rd Rockefeller Park where the bike infrastructure extends up to University Circle.

Would have like Cleveland City Council to have done this sooner, but better late than never I suppose. Cleveland City Council passes resolution supporting Gov. Miscellaneous Ohio Political News
‘Our voices are not heard’ — Ohio’s largest police union slams new GOP gun bills Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signed a bill on Monday allowing teachers to carry guns in class after 24 hours of training, over opposition from teachers and a police group. Not extreme, just those most affected by the law think that the laws go to far.
