Cleveland-random venting
it also depends on your friends too, i mean ive taken some of my friends who live here due to going to college here to some pretty grungy places. and with that ive always maintained a "hey bitches this aint disney" mindset about it. i think its a matter of embracing everything about the city than it is to only show the cool/neato parts. now one of them is studying abroad and told me just the other day that she misses cleveland and feels like thats her home. if someone is gonna have the mindset that "well i moved cuz of THIS" then they obviously are gonna only point out the bad and arent worth convincing.

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
hmm a lot of people on this board are against it, including myself, but i know people who live and work in cleveland who are stoked about getting some big name retailers in the city. Bulldozing the past for something pre-fab and new is the *American* Way. I think the "Cleveland Way" is assuming negative stuff that happens in most other cities is only a Cleveland thing and therefore a move to the coasts for only those reasons is completely justified. but id say even that is a common thing in other places as well.

Cleveland: Beck Center, Bob Stark and urban sprawl
i wonder if Stark has considered the Pesht development for Beck? Seems like the kind of institution that would fit in a place like that.

Cleveland/NYC: Italian Cultural Gardens statue
thats a crazy story, itd be great to get that thing back. i remember there being some kind of celebration on MLK on Memorial Day. Cars everywhere trying to pull out and parked along the curb. Had to stop 20 times to let people out. Finally i just said screw it and went. Some lady called me a white bitch for not letting her out, it was quite a pleasant experience heh.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
hmm i would think it could still be integrated into the triangle development if it were at mayfield. travel between CIA/Triangle and Little Italy is pretty common and not really isolated at all

Cleveland - Ross-Tek Information Systems moves to MidTown Innovation Center
not sure how exciting this one is heh, i didnt know Tower Press even had office space Tech firm makes move to MidTown By BRANDON GLENN 6:00 am, June 26, 2006 Ross-Tek Information Systems Inc. has moved to MidTown Innovation Center at 4415 Euclid Ave. President Fred Johnson said the company will occupy roughly the same amount of space — about 1,200 square feet — as it did at its previous location at the Tower Press Building, 1900 E. Superior Ave. The 9-year-old IT company employs three full-time workers, three contractors and is looking to hire three sales people, Mr. Johnson said.

Euclid Avenue Memories
i dunno this whole nostalgia thing is kinda odd. its not like euclid just turned to shit when 1970 hit. its not even bad right now. granted it has a lot to be improved. i was never alive during the euclid avenue heyday, but i do have fond memories of going downtown as a kid on the rapid with my parents. tower city was still grand instead of mediocre, the water fountains and whatnot. and then we would walk over to the old arcade where it was filled with some really cool shops. i remember the one toy shop in there we would always go to. i wanna say there was a comic book store somewhere over there too, but maybe im thinking coventry? and this all took place in the early 90s. We even accidentaly watched the pride '92 parade because we didnt know what was going on around euclid, we walked out of the arcade and there were floats and people waving. i even got excited about the "pretty dancers"...

Cleveland: Flats East Bank

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
ok im confused, they want more money or is this part of the deal already?? and where are these parking garages...?? right near one, possibly two, light rail stations...?? i wish the other big projects would start up so the city can be like "umm these guys dont need a s***load of government money, you shouldnt either." they're really trying to exploit the situation here i think

U.S. losing its middle-class neighborhoods
hmm well id say ask the author, but it doesnt sound like they meant it like rich+poor in one neighborhood = middling income neighborhood. I took it as the neighborhoods that had middle income residents are thinning out and in decline and thus the process is sped up on top of the fact that these people have more mobility to move away to wealthier suburbs with better schools and more space.
