  1. yea this is getting really really complex, itd be interesting to see it all in one aerial shot, even then just university circle in itself is getting complex too as far as future development/construction
  2. well heres some recent images i took
  3. no i personally wasnt planning on it hah, but i meant as a solution to give pedestrian access to the other side of the river over there for the city to do something with it. and as far as that, i've done a few photography assignments on the rapid... some people think its fun and will pose and smile and wave and then... some find it really upsetting even if im wearing my student ID. I do know someone who was taking photographs in little italy by the train tracks and a lot of police starting coming by, driving slowly to check out what he was doing and whatnot. but otherwise no one i know of has been arrested and warned or talked to about it.
  4. hmm im not too terribly excited about the demolition of the dormatories for a parking garage. thats really terrible.

i think the PD is not phrasing this correctly. those six things listed are things that cleveland has recently been striving for, but also the whole giant free wifi network being implemented within the whole city. this doesnt translate to "smartest city" though...
  6. ^ can you legally do that? i always wondered if that was a possible solution too.
  7. ^marc's is every grandma's dream come true.

wow this is wonderful! i remember parking in that parking lot for a concert at the odeon. its literally right next to the WL station. hmm but why wont the photos or renderings work???
  9. on the right hand side theres i think one building left, and it looks to be abandoned if im thinking of the correct area.

that building is gorgeous, i didnt know they were adding another build to it tho

whoa very nice! those balconies look really cool. i like the wall of windows effect the place has, it really makes for a nice view from every angle.

i've noticed a decent amount of lights on at night when im driving home from work from the flats. i wonder if this developer will do any other projects after this project or if there will be any word on that other condo building that was supposed to go up in the parking light next to the pinnacle
  13. yea i have several friends who are asian and are not from cleveland, but they knew of some of the places in chinatown. id say that many clevelanders dont even know about the neighborhood.
  14. hmm i think harborlight sounds really suburban or it also sounds like a name given to government housing to make it sound not so bad. id say something a bit more direct like "the docks" or "old port" and whatnot sound better
  15. cant this thing be seen from the rapid? the site is in really really bad shape. i would say much worse than E55th and Euclid. reminds of the structure across from the Kmart on W65th south of Lorain

"It's got a very high elevator shaft which serves as a beacon for lights and graphics so that, from a distance, you can see the train station. " this is good news. ever since i was a kid we always used this station to go downtown and i always remember when we drove there and not realizing where the station was even at... other than the yellow... heh
  17. is it the thing on euclid thats right past the house of blues? looks like they took down the boards on that storefront and theres windows and a lot of activity going on inside as far as renovations.
  18. From the Plain Dealer Focusing on Cleveland Most construction is residential and retail, rather than industrial parks Sunday, January 08, 2006 Christopher Montgomery Plain Dealer Reporter When it comes to real estate development in Northeast Ohio, 2006 is shaping up as the Year of Cleveland. Nearly every major project under way or in the construction pipeline is in the city - a reversal of the mostly suburban-based development of recent years.
  19. well the thing is, the photos im sure vary over a few decades. he had a long career as a photographer. i said 40s/50s thinking over a time period of 20 years. btw where were those fountains located??
  20. i was thinking that too about the elevation factor. i think it could make for a very dramatic and interesting setup much like the few streets that go from the WHD to the river right now. theres definately a SF or Seattle feel to them
  21. yea and i gotta say, the scanner doesnt do them justice. i was really excited to find these, apparently some of them made it into the cleveland press back in the day

id say if there was anything built like this in cleveland i bet itd be in University Circle, but yea every day im driving up 77 its cool to see Crown Center and then Cleveland in the distance. altho what happened to the green neons? those arent always on anymore
  23. no i been in there before and there was a decent amount of people shopping and checking things out. however they do seem cramped in that big space, i think they even have a little courtyard/outdoor section. so im wondering if they're maybe looking for more space by putting a store in on the east side?
  24. I found a few photos that my great grandfather had taken in the 40s and 50s... im sure on actual dates. i think i posted a few of these before, maybe two or three, but i found a whole bunch more.
  25. well see i dont know, i know Spaces had projections in the windows (it was supposed to be until this week) but the projector bulb burned out so we took them down early, they been up since November 18th though. i think groop gallery thats in the colonial marketplace also has a storefront window in there. it could be their installation.
