  1. I wouldnt even say BP is all that bad. In its context i think it is (compared with Key and Terminal Tower) and that brown color is awful. I really only like a few art deco skyscrapers, they have to be really tall since thats what the design elements of them call for. The worst one in Cleveland i feel is the CSU tower. That thing is awful. It reminds me of a prison rather than an education institution.
  2. well i think the tower city observation deck has been reopened. Key never had one, although it should.
  3. oh wow i didnt realize this is the cleveland hub. i thought it was dead. I think i saw some sort of "transit hub" in the new lakefront plan actually. Right across from the rockhall and proposed hotel/"rock block". and with the highway changing to boulevard thing going on, there will be a lot more room to expand as well.
  4. plus trains are cool
  5. hmmm Cleveland to Toronto, i may never come back home...
  6. whoa holy shit  that top floor would make for an awesome artist loft lol Awesome shots. I remember when i was a little kid going to the top of Terminal Tower with my grandparents, that was back when it was the tallest though
  7. hmm i dunno, its nothing innovative, im sure he'll blend in with all the other songs if he does get a break. anything big in the rap world is stuff thats different, well established already, or has a chick with a pretty voice singing the chorus.

  9. So do i, but i want a damn breakwall beach too. maybe in the next lakefront plan of 2050
  10. http://www.cleveland.com/news/wide/11lakefront07.gif"> This is the only district that will be both on the west and east sides. Lots of potential, but its shitty that this is gonna take decades, if it ever gets completely finished

Effect of gay marriage ban uncertain; Cleveland Hts. law appears unaffected Thursday, November 04, 2004 Martin Stolz Plain Dealer Reporter Cleveland Heights' domestic partnership registry and benefits program for gay city workers are safe from Ohio's sweeping constitutional amendment banning gay marriages and civil unions, officials say. But the fallout elsewhere in Ohio from voters' overwhelming approval Tuesday of Issue 1 is far from certain. Gov. Bob Taft, who opposed the measure along with other Republicans, said Wednesday it was "unclear, very ambiguous." The amendment defines a marriage only as a "union between one man and one woman." Voters approved it by a margin of 62 percent to 38 percent, but the measure appeared headed for court challenges. The part of the amendment that worries Taft most bans Ohio municipalities and townships from creating or recognizing the "legal status" of any union other than a man and woman. "It could be interpreted very broadly in court to affect all kinds of relationships, where even a man and woman are living together," he said. "So I'm concerned about how the courts will interpret that language. We won't know how adverse the impact is until the courts start interpreting this amendment." ... http://www.cleveland.com/election/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/news/109956458962001.xml
  12. we are getting a grocery store in the WD. hopefully that will bring some more people into the area. It seems as though theres tons of places to eat downtown, the place is bustling on the weekend with the places to eat. Just a few weeks ago i checked out the WD and thats exactly what i encountered, but as far as checking out stores there... well... the porn shop on W 6th(or W 9th?) was kinda interesting...? lol

yea but i think this is far scarier than outlawing alcohol. you could always bootleg it or whatever (you cant do that when you're trying to visit your lover at the hospital, theres no alternative heh). And it wasnt against a minority, it was against everyone. so it affected more people and therefore more opposition. i mean the 'wait' could last 10 years or 50 years, but the fact that neighboring countries fully allow gay marriage NOW makes me not want to 'wait' for this country that calls itself "the land of the free" to get its sorry ass together. makes you wonder if the "creative class" will opt for other countries instead of just other states or cities sooner or later heh

hmm if it passes i definately dont see a point in staying in Ohio if you're gay and want to start a family with someone. especially if across the lake its completely legal to get a marriage. things like this get on the books and you wonder why people who live in america hate america heh... its sad that the only way we can justify voting against this is that it "hurts the economy".
  15. haha i saw a truck carrying that sign down to E 4th

ya know driving by the other day i was wondering about that tree, or tree shaped object
  17. what the hell?! thats cool and all that theres almost a new tall tower of lofts, but why doesnt it fit in with the building next to it?! That looks awful. Its great tho that Columbus is starting to get some downtown residential stuff, thumbs up to that.
  18. oh im sure its getting close in some areas of downtown, last number i heard for all of downtown was somewhere around 9500 however that 10,000 figure is per square mile and downtown cleveland is about 4 sq miles. So i would say somewhere in the 20k-25k range is when the ball will start rolling.
  19. that was a really good article in the sunday paper, they had some photos of new towhouse rows i hadnt seen before.
  20. hahaha!
  21. Droves?? i think thats over-doing it a bit. Personally i think the reason why Toronto has prospered is because it regionalized, something i think will happen in Cleveland. But itll take longer for Cleveland, and its simply because of the country it exists in. If im not mistaken Toronto was forced by the canadian government to regionalize, heh something i dont even think US gov't is allowed to do.
  22. Halle Building to house Case offices Move seen as boost for Euclid Avenue Thursday, October 14, 2004 Corwin A. Thomas Plain Dealer Reporter Case Western Reserve University is moving 325 of its employees downtown to the Halle Building, one of Cleveland's oldest landmark buildings. The move, which is expected to occur in the middle of next year, is a plus for downtown's office market and especially for Euclid Avenue, which is full of vacant and half-vacant buildings between East 13th and East Ninth streets. Case will occupy 80,000 square feet on three floors in the 392,000-square-foot building, with an option for an additional 40,000 square feet. Currently, the Halle Building, 1228 Euclid Ave., has more than 130,000 square feet of vacant space. The university also had looked at other downtown locations, including the BP Tower and the May Co. Building, both on Public Square. http://www.cleveland.com/search/index.ssf?/base/business/1097746305313650.xml?bxbiz
