Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
Leeper over the holidays on Thats So Cincinnati said it was going to be at that park next year, 2025. Think it's moving.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Lindner definitely instructed Winburn to flip flop on that in 1994 imo
-
Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
From my extensive research onto Fountain Square West - Lindner had nothing to do with its death - Nell, Luken, Council, Blackwell, Emery's, Addison Lanier, CBC secrecy and infighting all had a lot more to do with its death. It was a preponderance of terrible events, mistrust and not grasping onto a hot hand.

This seems very wrong. I think they're getting 79% from the owner vs rental. They're also including the greater urban basin area of downtown which includes west end and over the rhine. This was their source. https://dashboards.mysidewalk.com/state-of-downtown-cincinnati/housing

Cincinnati: Population Trends
City of Cincinnati returns to pre-pandemic population growth in 2023 The city of Cincinnati returned to its pre-pandemic growth path in 2023, adding 1,692 people. The city’s population stood at 311,097 to end 2023, according to U.S. Census Bureau data released May 16. 0.5% growth in a year is pretty remarkable. Compared to other peer cities cincinnati is doing incredibly well.

Cincinnati: Kroger
Apparently the offices had been unused for a while so it's not as sudden of a blow as it seems

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
I'm hoping this is a placeholder for the hotel and not the final design. The one last year would look far better than this.

Cincinnati: Potential New Arena
The arena at 75 thing is more interesting because both John Barrett and the Mayor are hinting at an arena location that can only be in the reclaimed land. Both of those quotes hinting at the same time is a heck of a coincidence if it is one. But Barretts stuck out at me "Barrett’s vision extends to the rest of the city’s center. He believes a new arena and a convention center should be attached, with parking to support them. He’d like to see them close to Fountain Square. “We’ve got to make Fountain Square and west more vibrant,” he said." Chris Weitterch tweeted "Also noteworthy in arena newz today: Western & Southern CEO John Barrett thinks the arena needs to be connected to the convention center, which is a pretty narrow real estate universe." I think there's more here than posturing.

Cincinnati: Brent Spence Bridge
'We defer to the people of Cincinnati': Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine weighs in on Brent Spence Bridge design Some key quotes .. ... Interesting tidbit in the article is this - Walsh said it is expected council will take up a formal vote about the project "sometime in the next month or so." The city can have a say and it is not too late for that say. Its time for council to step up and make their priorities fully known for this once in a generation project.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
Very very interesting tidbit in the downtown residential council November meeting minutes. Atrium I is being partially converted. http://www.ilivedowntown.com/ "Seth Harmon introduced speaker Doug Moormann from Development Strategies Group. Mr. Moormann provided an overview about improvements occurring at the Atrium 1 building on 4th Street. Occupancy has been impacted by Covid currently making the Atrium half empty. There are plans to convert 200,000 square feet of space into 205 workforce affordable apartments. The renovation is expected to take 18-24 months and cost around $47M. Mr. Moormann addressed several questions from members regarding retail options and the influx of residential space in the city."

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
I heard the 650 room application was a procedural one to give them flexibility, 800 is still target (apparently) from Jeff Alutto who stated such during a Commissioner meeting. I certainly hope it is. Anything less than 800 rooms is an abject failure to me. Also - honestly - there are two projects, west end mixed use and carew, that all deserve funding more than this. Hamilton County, the City and 3cdc need to get their s**t together.
-
Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
Maybe the fact the CFA didn't have a meeting until last week, meaning April - September without a meeting, caused some large communications gaps? There hasn't been an update since like May on either Convention Center or Hotel, which I'm assuming will be updated soon.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
That would be my hope that it's simply confusion. Press releases do state 800 rooms consistently when Portman design came out. I hope this is addressed at the county commisoners meeting this week. I do think a weeks long cooling off period would be a mistake as it would crunch the timetable

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
Im hoping this was the CFA meeting as there would have to be records of such. this sounds like it was a meeting between the hamilton county administrator and 3cdc, then the administrator invited Alicia.....
