  1. Yeah a new arena could fit there but seems like chamber and berding would throw a fit about it
  2. Local group presents new redesign for Brent Spence Bridge project — this time with cheaper price tag "Bridge Forward's latest workaround focuses on US-50. Instead of the tunnel under mainline I-75 from the previous design, it's now a highway overpass. The old design includes losing some acres near the Bengals practice facility. The new one tightens up I-75 and Fort Washington Way, and does not move onto the Duke Energy or Bengals properties. When asked how much money this new design is expected to save with these adjustments, Boland said on top of eliminating the tunnel on US-50 — which was estimated to cost more than $90 million, Bridge Forward believes the latest plan could also save between $15-20 million and be cheaper than the I-W plan."
  3. No other site available in West End at this juncture could have the impact of a much needed apartment complex being built in a dead part of the basin that would finally allow infill to spill towards City Hall.
  4. Land north of Hard Rock would be far better for an arena than at the town center site. A new arena is needed but doing it here rather than an apartment development that could really stitch NW Downtown and West End together is the the worst of outcomes. It would also permanently create a wall between cbd and west end that extend to TQL stadium. Model design looks best to me so far.
  5. Transportation officials meet with Bridge Forward to discuss Brent Spence plans May 23rd, 2023 CINCINNATI — One more step was taken today towards the possible redesign of a new Brent Spence bridge. The very notion of a different design on the Ohio side of where it would be built was once considered a bridge too far. But now Ohio Department of Transportation officials are giving it greater attention. They met this afternoon with a group called Bridge Forward. There appears to be growing interest in what they've proposed. "The ODOT Director was in town yesterday walking with the mayor through that area," said longtime transportation expert John Schneider today. "I thought that was a good sign. I think you're going to see more of the business community start to get behind this." -- ODOT released a statement on the meeting Tuesday night, stating their goal of "building a project that addresses the needs of both interstate and local traffic that benefits those traveling through and living in the area." “Today, we met with Bridge Forward for the fourth time this year. Once the design-build team is selected, we will loop them into the conversation. While we share many common goals with Bridge Forward, the project we deliver must be safe for all who drive, walk, or bike through it," the statement read. ______ Proud of the work our group has achieved. Feeling very optimistic.

The City of Cincinnati resumed its pre pandemic growth trend according to 2022 census estimates released by the Census Bureau July 2021 - 308,685 July 2022 - 309,513 This is remarkable considering Hamilton County lost population as a whole in the same estimates. Above 2020 Census population of 309,317
  7. Was both queensgate and 75/6th st Expressway that decimated the neighborhood. All were planned by the Kenyon Barr Renewal Plan, the single largest displacement urban renewal project in the country.
  8. Very good comparison here Basically Urban Boulevard on both sides of highway connected with street grid. Ramps to 7th and 6th northbound with a connected streetgrid. More substancial land reclaimation than odot plan. Hopkins and Kenner go across. 5th to 9th is able to be capped as well as between Hopkins and Kenner. 50 runs as a covered trench underneath.
  9. Looks like Portman will presenting at next week's staff meeting Love the base design. But we need to go slimmer and taller after the podium. Downtown needs a marquee skyscraper on its west side, not something to block off a block.

  11. New arena needs to be either west of convention center district or in hard rock. Apartments are planned with CET staying at the Town Center Garage site rn and its the plan the West End favors over the arena. 400 apartments as I have heard will completely transform that area of the West End. Plopping an arena there instead would be laughable. I dont support stadium tax going to a new arena, most I would support would be an infastructure support situation, thats it.
  12. The Portman Holdings group was selected. This is their design. Only ask from me is make it a bit taller
  13. Really find it crazy Policinscki wants to make this an either or argument, it really should not be at all.
  14. East Palestine disaster prompts questions about sale of Cincinnati railroad to Norfolk Southern
  15. Any updates on the design chosen? Was supposed to be picked by New Years, taking longer than expected.
  16. Cincinnati Amtrak expansion: Improved passenger rail from Union Terminal to Chicago still on the table
  17. I think using the sale to lower our already low earnings tax even lower isnt the best idea considering all of the liabilities the city has after ARP runs out.
  18. I have also heard there are genuine concerns that State Lawmakers wont go along with the rule changes in the Ferguson Act.
  19. I think the fact that Norfolk Southern doesnt own it means that they have to be more careful than if they had full ownership. You take care of a car more if its leased than if you own it outright. And I think the concerns about the safety of Norfolk Southern, with 2 derailments in Northern Ohio in the past 5 months, it is a genuine concern and one that is rightfully being brought up. Former lawmaker Tom Brinkman sues Cincinnati over railway sale documents
  20. If anything we need an earnings tax increase to the 2.1% it was at before 2020. Tax cut will defund our services even with the sale.
  21. them putting 661 million as the bottom of the range is legit laughable. its based on the 2009 purchase offer by norfolk southern indexed to inflation, and there is no way that can be seen as a realistic valuation as even then the og 500 million was seen as a laughable purchase price offer. also fails to mention the 37.3 million per year lease offer. still very much against the sale of the railroad rn.
  22. Like this really does not make any sense
  23. Their hamilton county prediction for 2030 and 2040 is equally atrocious. After a gain from 802k to 830k we are going to suddenly slip to 790k???? laughable.
