  1. Lori Burchett looks to keep Cincinnati streetcar moving in right direction https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/cincinnati/news/2022/09/19/cincinnati-streetcar-s-new-boss Also this quote in the article as well Also this Very exciting developments!!!
  2. its a good start and i think could build momentum towards something much more broad.
  3. I pray and hope they reopen the observation deck
  4. A Rough Beast Slouches Toward the Brent Spence Bridge As local and regional politicians move forward on a $3 billion highway widening project, a local group of activists in Cincinnati are fighting for an alternative plan. Found this article very interesting and being done by someone who had a well discussed article in April as a followup is good to see. Bridge Forward seems to have a path forward to get its plan implemented after ODOT recently announced some very notable changes to the design process and timeline of the Brent Spence Bridge https://www.dot.state.oh.us/Divisions/ConstructionMgt/design-build/bsb-project-procurement/Pages/default.aspx This is absolutely good news and would allow the design modifications that Bridge Forward wants to implement to the corridor to move forward without interrupting the design process for the bridge, etc. I highly encourage everyone to email their local representative through the Bridge Forward website. https://actionnetwork.org/letters/brent-spence-bridge-design-improvements?source=direct_link
  5. I submitted a correction and it looks like they corrected it! https://www.nbc4i.com/news/investigates/as-columbus-housing-costs-rose-last-year-franklin-county-lost-population/
  6. Double checked the census data and yes they reported wrong. Cincinnati lost 4500 according to the census website, not 10,000 🤨
  7. This is literally wrong for Cincinnati. We lost I think 3-4k???? not 10,000, where are they getting that number from?
  8. Was it someone waiting to pick up someone, happens all the time after reds games *sigh* like what do u think that rail is for lmao
  9. Councilman-elect pushes for expansion of Cincinnati’s streetcar route https://www.fox19.com/2021/11/19/councilman-elect-pushes-expansion-streetcar-project/
  10. Just browsed upon something INCREDIBLY interesting in the latest Hamilton County Regular Meeting Agenda for 11/18/2021. MSD and the county are certifying the owners of Carew Tower and Hilton Netherland Plaza delinquent in sewage charges. Carew Reality INC. They have not paid since November 1st, 2020. And owe $659,059.25 in unpaid sewage charges. Whats more, the item report also reports on October 15th, 2021 there was a court filing for Foreclosure proceedings. Case Number A2103593 in the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas. If the link does not work, let me know. https://hcjfsonbase.jfs.hamilton-co.org/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/Certification of Delinquent Sewerage Service Charges 35 W 5th.pdf -.pdf?meetingId=2329&documentType=Agenda&itemId=10775&publishId=5629&isSection=false Court Case Summary found on the Clerk of Courts website if you type in the case number.
  11. Streetcar ridership was updated through 11/2/2021. Despite the cold snap in late October, ridership did not dip below 1,000 on any given day through November 2nd. The Streetcar had 59,161 riders in October. And has had 451, 165 riders thus far in 2021. Despite the pandemic keeping ridership down until Mid March, ridership will probably get just at or below where it was in 2019, which I think is quite remarkable. Next council not only needs to implement the changes described by bradley, but needs to plan for extensions to uptown, west end and NKY. A plan and study will determine the cost, etc and will give definitive policy. Daily 9/1/2016 - 11/2/2021 Monthly 9/1/2016 - 10/31/2021 Years 2016-2021(thus far)
  12. With the infrastructure bill passed, which includes 35 billion for public transit. Cincinnati should make the case for federal money for a streetcar expansion.
  13. It does not need to be either or, both can be done realistically with federal infastructure money coming through. Uptown is growing fast, and the amount of students in Clifton has ballooned, parking is incredibly hard yet public transit in clifton is laughable, esp near UC, where to go to many places a car is required. Connecting the two jobs centers with a system already in place, which will not end up being 150 million like the original phase was, and to allow University students to access downtown would be priceless in making the streetcar a public transit center that does what it was originally intended to do, connect.
  14. I do think at the very least even if it will not happen in the next 4 years, there should be another study done to make sure if federal money becomes available we have a viable project all planned out.
  15. oop Vandercar wins summary judgment against Port in Millennium redevelopment case - Cincinnati Business Courier (bizjournals.com) https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2021/11/04/vandercar-wins-summary-judgment-port.html
  16. I think we have to think bigger than this to remain competitive as a city in the coming years.
  17. Hmmph. Leads a slight window but seems like no. Unlike cranley I don't see him being stubborn and unwilling to change so we will see. But not the best news. https://local12.com/news/local/cincinnati-mayor-elect-aftab-pureval-lays-out-priorities-after-historic-win
  18. Look at this post in the r/Cincinnati subreddit today. In September, the Streetcar was the third most ridden transit line in Ohio. It gave more than five times as many rides per hour as TANK and Metro and total ridership was equal to half of TANK's *entire system*. Here are some proposed ideas for what streetcar expansion could look like in the future : cincinnati https://www.reddit.com/r/cincinnati/comments/qkie7m/in_september_the_streetcar_was_the_third_most/ The concept (all credit goes to whomever made this amazing thing)
  19. I think Aftab wins handidly but not by a landslide, 55-45%. Sunderman I do not see being on council, I do not think Brinkman has enough name recognition to win in the city.. The council as a whole would be better off having both Keating and Goodin rather than have only Sunderman win, Keating and Goodin work with the community and actually seem to work with other council members, Betsy is all about stunts and gotchas. Her defend the police press conference was an embarassment to the city and to herself. My 9 that I think would be a good mixture of realistic but also a bit of a council I could see working well with each other. Frondorf (C) Parks (D) Landsman (D) Tarbell (C) Harris (D) Kearney (D) Dillingham (D) Keating (R) Castle (D) I think uber realistically the democratic slate will win, and Keating and Goodin have best shot of keeping their seats. But I do not think Sunderman has the support to keep hers in the city. We have to remember even despite corruption, the amount of democrats in hamilton county has grown MUCH larger since even 2016.
  20. What I'm wondering is was the downtown residents council simply confused in stating the location of the new residences? With the former Macy's building being announced as new apartments, we're they simply thinking wrong? Or does it seem like from details it's different?
  21. I may be reading the situtation wrong, so please correct me if I am wrong, but I recall Cranley blowing up the original deal with Vandecar
  22. If people do not see the consequences of Cranley's mayoralship it is bright in picture here. If we had simply gone with the original developer, despite the issues with how we got there, Cranley then turned around and blew up the deal, similar to how he blew up the Banks Public Partnership in 2019 over the Music Center, over county to city squabbles. Now it is about to be 2022, and we are making a world cup bid, with NO CONVENTION CENTER HOTEL. And with no plan in site. It is simply terrible. This needs to be the number one priority of the next city administration, to go over and actually work with the Port, Hamilton County and perhaps stoke 3cdc into the deal.
  23. Is there any way to retrofit the building to support more than 20 floors?
  24. I would much rather see a 35 story+ building in the spot where it is at and I wish that 3cdc and the city would realize that with the amount of demand they had filling up those 4 floors even before completion, a project of a mixed use with parking built up on the western side and a 35-40 story tower on top of the podium on the east side with the division group offices interconnected for 16 floors and then residential and commercial as needed above I believe would be a project that would be worthy of the plot of land there.
  25. I think the demand is there enough that a sizable addition to the skyline may happen. The base of the building is so large that they could perhaps have two different towers. But im thinking they didn't know in October 11th that the division group would be relocating. So maybe the plans changed? A 16 addition above the 4 story base of foundry would make the building 20 floors. And would be the first noticeable addition to the skyline since pre covid 1010 on the rhine. Just one short of the Huntington center next door. QUITE sizable. And would fill in the skyline. Suddenly out of nowhere a tower above fountain place is looking the most likely since the early 90s.
