  1. As a relatively new RTA rider who lives in a suburb, albeit about a mile from the border with Cleveland (northern edge of Parma), I can offer a suburban perspective. I have recently been taking the 45 bus from near Ridge/Snow to connect with the HealthLine downtown in order to get to my office in Midtown. The buses are usually on time, so it's not an issue, but it's probably about 50 minutes total travel time, and I only really go into the office as needed, so I'm not commuting a lot. The RTA does a decent job with running bus lines into the suburbs, but I don't think they run as frequently. At least as far as I know, most of the lines that run through Parma only run every hour on "off-peak times". One of the lines that I wish ran more frequently is the Brookpark bus, because that's the only line closest to me that connects right to the rapid station in Brookpark, and even if it ran every 30 minutes or so, I probably wouldn't have to drive to the rapid station. Also, that bus stops running at like 8:30pm or something like that, which is a bit early in my opinion. I think making some of the bus routes that run farther into the suburbs more frequent would definitely increase ridership outside of the city. I also saw someone mention a possible Parma Circulator bus on an Instagram post for the RTA in the comments, and that got me thinking and it would definitely help in getting around the city, and would also provide nice connections to the rest of the bus routes in the city. Also, maybe some of the cities could possibly trial bus-only lanes, just to see what happens?? If the bus gets its own lane, it can be competitive with the regular traffic that it currently travels with on every route except the HealthLine. I know definitely from riding the 45 home that a bus-only lane on Ridge Road would be nice, considering that it slows to a crawl near Ridge Park square because of the dang 480 exit!!! Anyways, I always appreciate the discussion in this forum and look forward to helping advocate for a better RTA!
  2. Make sure to let your state representative know! I just sent mine an email.
  3. My thoughts exactly:
  4. https://www.pghcitypaper.com/pittsburgh/what-the-infrastructure-bill-could-mean-for-pa-amtrak-expansion/Content?oid=20570348 I read that Amtrak is proposing a new round trip between Pittsburgh and New York City with an extension to Cleveland - would that be an expansion of the Pennsylvanian?
  5. Update on Oxford's Amtrak station: https://oxfordobserver.org/8053/community/oxford-amtrak-station-project-faces-challenges/
  6. I sure hope the congressional districts get the boot, too. I mean, how is the 14th district that they are proposing even legal???? I'd be in the part just south of Cleveland.
  7. Fully agree, and it would be nice to see them collaborate on the future of the Tower City development and other planned development along Canal Road. Based on the renderings in the below article, they don't really give much detail on making Tower City the transportation hub or supporting the extension of the CVSR into downtown along the river. https://neo-trans.blog/2021/09/15/bedrock-riverfront-joins-downtown-lakefront-in-mega-planning/
  8. https://www.kpcnews.com/thestar/article_7f7a3cd1-4fa2-5d3b-856d-41505bb99b1b.html This is the only article I could find. It sounds like they are going to hear testimony on a bill that would create a commission on passenger rail under INDOT. The senator who sponsored the bill (Dennis Kruse) said that he expects a favorable vote on the bill.
  9. With all of this development that is likely to happen on the peninsula in the next few years, I wonder if GCRTA would consider some kind of bus loop to traverse the area, considering there isn't really any bus service down there. I made a hypothetical loop, similar to how the B-Line Trolley operates, and the map I made is in the link below. Not sure about frequency, but I made the turnaround points at the West 25th Red Line Station and Merwin's Wharf. Thoughts are appreciated. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1aGk2VltqrnjywiabBGzoRhPptqHL6-Gj&usp=sharing
  10. First of all, I am glad to have found this site as a place where people share my budding interest in urban topics, most notably transit. I am a relatively new RTA rider from Parma, and I have started to take the bus to work (I work in Midtown). The commute is fairly long, and I really only have one bus route that will get me to my destination (Tower City, in order to transfer to the HealthLine), which is the 45. I was snooping around the web for any plans that the RTA had to expand some kind of rapid transit into Parma, and I came across the below link, which is the Parma Master Plan of 2004. On Page 88, they mention something about a rapid transit line that would extend along the Red Line from Tower City and then run along what I assume is the NS Cloggsville Line and then branch off near Ridge and Denison, and then run at-grade down Ridge Road to Parmatown. Oh, how different Parma would look today if they would have followed-through with this plan! I guarantee that a ton of people would have used this as a way to get downtown. Since I was so curious, I went ahead and made a custom Google Map with what I assumed as their proposed route, along with stations that I added myself, as I wasn't sure what they would have used as stations, but I gave some suggestions. I assume this would have been all light-rail. Anyways, I look forward to riding RTA more hoping that we can expand on the GCRTA system! https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1r_gFOLCz709MnAd2GkGb0kA8X2Q88jBP&usp=sharing http://levin.urban.csuohio.edu/academics/graduate/mupdd/mupdd_capstone05/land use planning/student products/kleem-master plans/parma.pdf
  11. This doesn't directly relate to the trail, but I know that the old B&O Passenger Station was being considered to be a part of the park, either as a CVSR depot, trailside lodge, or history center. Anyways, I found some pictures that someone took inside the building from 2014. I would love for this building to be preserved and be incorporated into the park. http://www.climbingthefence.com/2014/09/an-abandoned-train-station.html
  12. I like the sound of #1 on this list. Does anyone know if there has been any recent developments on the talks of CVSR extending the line all the way to downtown?
