  1. Does anyone know if there is a webcam to watch the Astor Park construction progress?
  2. Anyone willing to screenshot the photo for those of us without Instagram. Thanks in advance!
  3. Any word on if they are still planning to move the electrical substation that sits behind Dahlia? That being moved, combined with Dahlia being torn down, opens up a massive plot for development. Although I doubt they are owned by the same entity.
  4. Cincinnati has already done this with their convention center, the Duke Energy Center. If selling naming rights provides the convention center added revenue that allows it to be bigger and better, who cares what the name is. It's not like some association will refuse to have their convention in Columbus because of the building's name.
  5. Based on Google StreetMaps, this lot at 1521 N. 4th has been fenced off since at least 2014. A bunch of big developments have been going up in this area, how has this huge lot sat vacant for so long? Also, the property doesn't even seem to be for sale, why would you keep paying taxes for nearly a decade without any revenue to show for it?
  6. Ordinarily, these type of salary figures are inclusive of the entire benefits package offered to employees. I would guess that only 70% of that $135,000 figure is actual salary, with the remainder being health insurance, retirement, voluntary benefits, etc. That brings the actual salary average down to about $95,000, which is a much more believable figure. Also, its important to note that they used average salary and not median salary. A plant manager making $1.5 million will dramatically increase any average salary figure.
  7. https://time.com/6140476/intel-building-factory-ohio/ ^^ Renderings and a bunch of new details
  8. After securing this type of approval, how long does it usually take before shovels are in the ground?
  9. The billboards around town say the new tower is scheduled for completion in 2026. I'm very curious as to why this is taking 5 years to complete. The new Hilton project, although less complex than a hospital, is similar in size and is only going to take roughly 2 years to complete. What gives?
  10. Can someone explain to me how they are building this tower? I watch it daily from the Nationwide tower and cannot make sense of it. They are somehow able to assemble the structure for an entire floor in like 2.5 days. There does not appear to be any steel involved. Is it just poured concrete? As you can see from this picture above, each of the additional floors that they build almost look like they are assembling a stage at an outdoor music festival.
  11. Pretty standard terra cotta, no?
  12. Their application says they plan to remove the overhead power lines. Best news I've heard all day.
  13. Over the last week I have noticed a good amount of commotion inside the old Clintonville Outfitters store. There also appears to be a "Sold" sign hung on the side of the building. I checked the auditor's website and it doesn't have anything posted yet. Does anyone have the inside scoop on this one? Anyone who lives nearby can attest to how much of an eyesore this has become over the last couple years since they closed. I'm bummed the plans for it to turn into a brewery fell through last year due to COVID.
  14. Do we have to consider the portion underneath High street (convention center drive) when counting floors and overall height?
  15. What has attendance been like for the other times USMNT have played in Columbus? Do you anticipate this Cost Rica game will sell out?
  16. They are just finishing up the parking garage at the new Chipotle corporate building (200 Vine) - anyone know why they left the entire south side of the garage unfinished? It almost looks like they anticipate putting in another building that will cover up that side of the garage.
  17. Has anyone else noticed that both of the stadium's jumbotrons appear to be on the east side. If that is the case, it seems to be a major design flaw. People sitting on the east side of the stadium are going to have to almost turn around backward just to look up at the screens, especially with the screens being setback from the stands. It would make more sense to have the jumbotrons on opposite corners, SE and NW or SW and NE. That way everyone has a vantage point of a screen without jerking their head around. I know the point of seeing a game live is to actually watch the field, but the screens add a major component of the game-day experience.
