Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Too bad we couldn't talk the port into relocating like it was proposed about 10 years ago. At the time they made some ridiculous statement that it would take about 20 years for it to move. How about 18 months, you relocate at the Eastern end of the landfill at Burke lakefront airport. You build about four warehouses, which are basically pole barns, cut a few water slips, lay down asphalt for the loading areas, run a rail spur to it, build a small headquarters building and you're in business. Land at the existing port would be freed up for a state of the art facility and FES would be cleared for more mixed use development. Ah one can dream...

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
The thought of building a stadium at the intermodel site or now the post office location makes my stomach hurt. Both horrible choices. I can just see it now as the Goodyear blimp approaches the stadium ready to broadcast the aerial views of the city that we all look forward to instead it is capturing parts of the industrial valley, then floating over the chemical storage tanks along a very industrial part of the river, as it hovers over the massive county jail and its barbed wire perimeter, and then loses itself over the maze of highways and on and off ramps. We have to get this right, you only get one chance for a first impression. The narrative that we try to change about Cleveland and its industrial reputation will never change. A bad first impression will equal millions of social media impressions that will be hard to defend. I hope they either explore a full renovation of the current stadium or the bluffs location could be interesting. For this to work it needs to be near the convention center and the hotels and entertainment districts.

This former Westinghouse building in Hamilton Ontario, built just a year apart from each other has recently been renovated into offices. This will probably look pretty close to what is proposed here.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
Not sure if anyone is aware of Poko Traveler on youtube but he is a local guy who takes walking tours of mostly downtown Cleveland. I would recommend checking out some of his past videos. They are oddly addictive. This is the latest one about Heinens and the recently opened Mitchells Ice Cream space. i

A building permit has been posted for the Masonic Auditorium. It describes the project in two phases, with the first being MEP work for the auditorium only. The second phase will be the remainder of the building for the same type of work. The amount of the first phase is for 3.5m which is a good amount of money. It lists Biolosky as the architect who also designed the proposed Dream Hotel, which btw Cleveland is still listed as a future project on the Dream website.

@KJPI was surprised you did not include the W/Erieview as a project that will reapply. Have you heard anything that kept you from including it. I believe they still have a 5 mil historic tax credit from 2020 though. Also I hope the tmud is better allocated this time around, NEO was awarded 53mil and one project got 40mil. 925 has amassed a huge amount of credits/awards over the years that guys like Stark/Wolstien must be jealous. Btw all that money and still no ground breaking for the Centennial yet. I remain skeptical.- Cleveland: Westown-Jefferson: Development and News

It's looking like the Global Ctr is on its way to be part of the Convention Ctr. So this is something I put together a couple of years ago when thinking of ways to expand the CC and add a hotel while still tying that all in to the proposed land bridge.- Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Global Center renovations on tight timeline, experts say Cuyahoga County needs to act fast https://www.cleveland.com/news/2022/04/global-center-renovations-on-tight-timeline-experts-say-cuyahoga-county-needs-to-act-fast.html To me this is an easy decision. I think the Global Ctr. will make a great addition to the convention facilities. This is a chance to add 50k sq ft of space at a much lower cost than building from ground up. I believe the city and the county need to invest in current venues to stay competitive. I would go even further and propose another convention hotel to bring in the larger events that we lose out on. You either compete or you don't.- Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
