  1. ^Maybe not, new updates are always buggy :-D
  2. Yeah lets build anyone of those renderings, that would be amazing. I kind of wish that the idea of the MM on the mall location could have played out a little bit more. I know that is not a popular opinion but I thought it would have been a realistic shot at building a stronger case for the transportation center. Although not on the scale of the design competition it would have been interesting to see what might have been proposed. Much like the PublicSquare design concepts I hope these dont just collect dust as so many renderings in this town have. We can get these done!
  3. Great article about the Rosetta move above, below is just one quote... "Most of our staff are under the age of 40," said co-founder and president Kurt Holstein. "We're hiring college graduates who are interested in a dynamic, urban environment, which Cleveland offers Finally someone who gets it. Congratulations to Rosetta and the city of Cleveland. Sometime today I am going to copy and paste this article into an email and send it over to the suits at Eaton and other companies who don't recognise the opportunities that are right in their own backyard. We should all let them know what a mistake it is to abandon the city center.
  4. Damn those went up quick. That's going to bring alot of needed activity to that area. More feets on the streets. Nice.
  5. I always thought the opposite about the IX Center. How about tearing down the existing terminal and surrounding facilities and turn the IX Center into one kickass worldclass terminal. You could have almost everything under one roof. I would like to an see an architect go crazy with all of that space. One big space with multiple moving sidewalks taking you to your gate, luggage, ticket counter, restaurant etc. And a ferris wheel in the middle. And the IX has a basement for parking!
  6. I am not sweating this one. From the MedCity article "The project's developers have previously said they'd seek private funding, coupled with an infusion of their own cash, for the $250 million medical mart". Yeah good luck with that one. Cleveland's got da money in the bank son.
  7. As the lead designer for the recently opened HighLine in NewYorkCity which imo is brilliant, I am confident that Field Operations and James Corner would deliver a groundbreaking project. The PS design is also on the front page of their website, I'll bet that they are proud of what they have imagined.
  8. haha agreed. This is hardly rocket science. The Clinic would have little problem of making it a success. Having worked in the event marketing field in my life, most of those in charge have little credibility but somehow manage to get it done. All in all I am not ready to panic with the challenges MMPI is facing at this point. My belief is that a ton of work is going on behind the scene and should all be resolved very soon.
  9. WoW, finally some out of the box thinking in Cleveland. Congrats to Parkworks and DCA for spearheading this effort. I just spent about 60 min straight staring at these proposals like a mental patient. Please, please, please lets hope this plan doesn't just collect dust like so many others. These proposals are game changers for public square. I like all the proposals but love #2 and #3. Mayor Jackson should make this "his" project to be done or underway by the time he leaves office. If he can get this done, I pledge to kiss his ass even more than MTS does!(if that's even possible).
  10. Pssht..Forget the Schofield. Did you guys see the rendering of the new Hustler club on the design review page? Cant wait to make it rain...lol

Nice. It took me awhile to get through these photos. You have very good vision of what is interesting. I really like the way you frame the subject and use colors. Quality stuff!
  12. Just to refresh everyones memory here is the link to the Ports Waterfront District flash presentation, it's nice to dream on a coldddd night... http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/lakefront/iactive/flash/index.html
  13. Dequindre Cut http://www.detroiteasternmarket.com/page.php?p=1&s=68 (more pics) Damn what an amazing project this is. It's the first I've heard of it. Would love to do something similiar to this or the NY HighLine in Cleveland. Nice job Detroit.

  16. From the peedee article Mark Falanga, senior vice president of MMPI says: "I think the city will embrace it," Falanga said. "It provides a venue in the city, a vista over the lake, a link to the train tracks. For the trade show hall, it provides a more direct link between the medical mart showrooms and the exhibit hall. In that regard, it makes it a better layout and one that's more functional." I am not disappointed in the location change, and I want to believe that MMPI is sincere in their thinking. As long as this not not some negotiation tactic to drive the price down for the St. Clair property, I believe this is a great opportunity. Public Hall will be fine, their will be a use for it down the road. This will give them more money to use towards building a truly great MM. I am hoping that the architects see this as a opportunity to do something great, every architect wants that chance. As far as the design I love the placing of a forward thinking, contemporary building among historic surroundings. And the fact that Falanga even recognises the fact about the train tracks should give us all encouragement. If we can believe them then I don't see this as a setback at all.
  17. I think the KJP post sums up the the challenges and the goal of this project. As I have stated throughout this thread I believe this is a worthwhile project and in the end will benefit the city. The cold fact that we have a highway deadend in the middle of a major city is embarrassing. Of course this project can really be something special with the move of the rapid tracks as part of the roadway. Hopefully someone will see the light. If you go to the pdf you can submit a comment or suggestion, tell them about including the rapid tracks. http://www.dot.state.oh.us/projects/ClevelandUrbanCoreProjects/OpportunityCorridor/Documents/OC_Handout_Crop.pdf
  18. I wonder what happened to this idea, wasnt Public Hall a part of this? Nehst Studios inks one-year lease for Cleveland Convention Center space By JAY MILLER 11:46 am, March 17, 2009 With passage of a state film industry tax credit imminent, Nehst Studios said it has signed a one-year lease with the city of Cleveland for a film studio in the Cleveland Convention Center. http://crainscleveland.com/article/20090317/FREE/903179963/1099/RSS01&rssfeed=RSS01
  19. These guys are dropping fast... The top administrator at Cleveland's port abruptly quits his $283,000-a-year job By James F. McCarty,The Plain Dealer November 06, 2009, 6:15PM "The board just thought it was time for new leadership," Board Chairman Steven Williams said after the vote. Williams and other board members refused to say what prompted the resignation, but documents show they will pay Wasserman $300,000 in severance. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/11/post_110.html ...$300,000.00! I would disappear for about 10 years and tan professionally
  20. Just for historical reference the original Burnham plan had a building planned for the far end of Mall C. I believe it was a transportaion center.
  21. This is just proof that these guys don't talk to each other. As I posted up the thread Tim Hagan 2 days ago said on morning radio that construction on the Public Hall portion will start in about 90 days. Crazy.
  22. So Tim Hagan was asked about the construction timetable while on the radio yeaterday morning and he said shovels will be in the ground for the Public Hall phase in about 90 days. So take that for what its worth.
