Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Speaking of Bob Hope as I just saw a picture in the vintage thread. Burbank Airport has pretty much taken the name of Bob Hope Airport and rebranded it. How does Cleveland Bob Hope International Airport sound? I like 'Hope International' as a name for an airport. It's time for a rebranding of our own.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Well I don't think they are going to lie to themselves in their own annual report lol. Site control, construction costs, labor etc. is always more expensive in an urban setting. Most of their properties are near a highway exit ramp or land that they already control. As far as the lakefront site it is up to the city to demand something that does not ignore it's unique setting. I think there is a place for this in the city. Personally I don't like the site for this I could see it in other spaces downtown, but I like the conversation and the interest shown in Cleveland. I think it is encouraging they indicate strong interest from retailers.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
So Crains did a recent interview with Andrew Brickman from Brickhaus and asked this question: Want to do a downtown Cleveland deal? I'm always looking for opportunities. We've demolished 30 homes to start One Seventeen in Ohio City on the west end of Hope Memorial Bridge. First I didn't realize it was that many houses that went down and he confuses the name of the project which I thought was One Twenty West because he refers to it as One Seventeen which is the Edgewater project right? Right. But I guess it's still on track.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I am usually all about the height but in this case I don't mind the lower profile. I was one of those who didn't want it to overwhelm the RH. Also some of this may be FAA related but judging just by the rendering it looks like the money just wasn't there for the 4 story version. Just guessing. I also hope Pace is being realistic with the retail space he has to fill. Hope he has some firm commitments already. Below is the original 3 story rendering which I like much better. The new version looks to be somewhat 'value engineered'.

Cleveland: Rocket Arena (Gund Arena)
Cleveland has to compete if it wants to remain relevant. The Q hosts around 300 event nights per year, well worth the money. If this doesn't happen now we would be talking a new arena in about five years. It's not just used for sports, this is where this community gathers for just about everything. Its well worth the investment and I would go even farther with the price tag and the upgrade, but this should give us another 15 to 20 years of use. Also excited to see SHOP involved as I predicted last winter in the Gateway thread. Now if only nucleus comes through soon that is going to be a very busy corner.

At one point Stark named The Walsh Group as pre-construction mgr. I wonder if it would just transition to them. Especially considering that Walsh just finished the AG headquarters at Crocker. Stark seems to like using the same ppl that he has built relationships with.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Yeah I don't get these temporary locations. Obviously the owner/operator of the Strongsville location has an interest in Downtown. I want them to succeed but at this point I would rather give my money to someplace thats already made the commitment to the city with a real location.
