  1. Cleveland - New City Planner Part-Time Position http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/assets/City_Planner_Posting.pdf
  2. Looking at the webcam for the CWRU medical school https://m.oxblue.com/open/ccf/cwruhec you will notice the space just west of Innova has been cleared and fenced off. I wonder if ground has been broken for the Dental Clinic that will occupy that space. I haven't seen anything from CPC regarding the plans though. If anyone goes by that way let us know if you see any type of signage.

  4. Here is a virtual tour of the CSU campus. Looks new. Also the Chester building has been demolished making way for the construction of the Engineering building. http://clevelandstate.university-tour.com

Who knew that there is a thread about this. Besides Hopkins thread is Locked. Mods can move to Hopkins thread. Any way new system should be up in 2018. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2016/08/faa_proposes_nextgen_improveme.html#incart_river_home
  6. Isn't not fully utilizing the signal prioritization a violation of the FTA also? Seems that they got around that.
  7. Am I right that the Crop closure does not include OnAir? Would like to see that succeed. Also unless things have changed 2 more venues will open over the next six months Margaritaville and Rascal Flatts. Both 10k sq ft and above. Be interesting to see the impact they have.
  8. ^Fine...as long as there is 40 floors of something else on top of it.
  9. None of these stores would likely even entertain being in the Galleria or The Avenue. That's just not a realistic expectation. It's one thing to say that it should be designed better to fit on the lake front. That's fair. But if you're rejecting this out of hand, you're basically saying you don't want retail and economic activity from this in the city limits. It ain't gonna happen at the Galleria or The Avenue. It's just not. I vote to make it better but I want the economic activity here. I want the taxes here. I want the jobs here. I don't want this going to the suburbs. I am with you in regards to it being located in the city. It seems that someone is going to build an outlet mall somewhere in the Cleveland area so it might as well be in the city preferably downtown. Bring the taxes / jobs / visitors downtown in hope that they will stay and visit other venues in the city. These are preliminary renderings let's see what comes next. Any other development around BKL is probably years away. If they can be smart about it and tie it in to the WFL somehow and create a connection to NCH I think we have to consider it.
  10. I would be very happy if the food court goes.
  11. Cardale Jones had a strong debut in the NFL 11-for-21, 161 yards and a touchdown plus 34 rushing yards / 95 QB rating. Our rookie QB looked lost and far from NFL ready. http://youtu.be/ybKuO8fqaOU
  12. Except there is already a jail there (on Harvard). Nice try though. Exactly! Plenty of room over there for expansion.
  13. ^Yes good info but isn't everything in some form or another passed on to the consumer. Rates would go up but another reason would be given. Besides a parking tax would not raise enough money. And while transit serves everyone why should a downtown, which is where most of the parking lots are be burdened with the majority of the of the financing.
  14. This is a county jail so why not build the jail portion in let's say Beachwood or Chagrin Highlands...oh yeah...NIMBY
  15. What is interesting was reading the old newspaper articles from the presentation that was attached to the recent article. Apparently the exterior was supposed to have been steel and glass but it wasn't until late in the game that the Fine Arts Committee recommended that the Architect hire an outside consultant who then changed it to the drab horrid exterior we see today. There were no renderings of the steel and glass version but it probably would have looked much better.
  16. I am not in favor of a parking tax. Not this drastic anyway. It hurts too many people who are just trying to make it through the week. That extra money it will cost them to park everyday will make a big difference in their lives. The extra let's say 50-100 bucks a month they will need to spend means they won't go to lunch at a nearby restaurant or go out after work for drinks. People are living day today as it is. If you say they should then use transit to get to work that's fine but unfortunately our transit system does not serve enough population areas for it to be an option for a lot of people, but that's another story. As I have posted before I think a countywide 'Pop' tax should be a part of the discussion. This would be for transit and sold as such. I think if a case is made to the voters it would have a good chance of passing. It is being used in other cities, Philly for example for various reasons. I think a 'pop' tax for transit would bring in the money needed to upgrade all areas of the system.

Some cool pics from tonight's storm.
  18. I really love this photo of the backside of the JHB cluster. In the foreground you see the start of the Union Commerce building, off in the distance is the Statler and across Euclid you see 1010/1020 Euclid.
