  1. Here is a aerial video of that steam train that some of you were all geeked up about last month..lol. I think it's the same one, idk.
  2. So here is the new scoreboard announcement from the PD. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/08/gateway_approves_16_million_re.html#incart_m-rpt-1 It sounds like the footprint of the scoreboard will remain the same but the actual video display will cover the whole area, in other words there will be no static advertising boards it will all be HD display from corner to corner. In comparison First Energy's new scoreboard is 40×172 this will be 60×237. I was hoping it would be less horizontal and more vertical to open up a better view of the city. Something like KC's new scoreboard.
  3. I am excited about Skyline and the renovation but I wish there was money to either knock this down and start over or at the least give it a new exterior. Something, anything.
  4. It would be a great themed boutique hotel, playing on it's history of all the celebrity's that stayed during it's time. Maybe in conjunction with the RockHall somehow with rooms named after Sinatra, Elvis, Zeppelin etc... with plaques and photo's of what star stayed in what room. Decorate the rooms as they were back then. It's definitely a historic hotel, I hope someone can see the possibilities.
  5. I hope an updated scoreboard is still in the works as was reported earlier.

  8. This Crain's piece is mostly about new suburban office developments, but a couple of interesting quotes regarding future office space and lease speculation that will surely apply to the downtown market. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20150809/NEWS/308099980/finally-builders-plan-new-east-side-offices?X-IgnoreUserAgent=1
  9. Ongoing breakwall repair. 'A portion of Cleveland's breakwater seen here undergoing repairs. Construction of the 4-mile long breakwater began in 1827 and it's purpose was to protect Cleveland's harbor from Lake Erie's relentless pounding waves. In October 2012, 30+ foot waves from Superstorm Sandy caused significant damage to the breakwater structure and repairs are still underway. The large geometric shaped concrete blocks used for the repair are called dolosse. They each weigh about 6.5 tons and are meticulously placed using special software to verify that they are interlocked properly to provide the best structural integrity.'
  10. That cluster of buildings were recently sold, well within the past year anyway. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/11/pointe_at_gateway_sells_for_52.html#incart_river
  11. ^Oh, no worries. Besides, KJP[/member] has probably already made a dozen phone calls, went over his notes on the soil analysis, did a couple sessions on the dark web, called in some favors, made a site visit..etc.
  12. Well I just spent the last 30 min trying to find a connection between Talmer and nucleus...I got nothing...
  13. Not sure if this will affect nucleus in any way but still interesting. Stark Enterprises Announces New Capital Markets Division August 04, 2015 03:42 PM Eastern Daylight Time CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Stark Enterprises, owner and operator of more than seven million square feet of Class A commercial real estate in Ohio, is announcing the addition of Stark Capital Group (SCG). As a new division of Stark Enterprises, SCG will provide comprehensive real estate capital markets solutions with an emphasis on equity and debt placements, principal acquisitions and asset management. “As a rapidly growing company with more than $1 billion in our development pipeline, we are confident the time is right to launch this type of endeavor,” said Ezra Stark, chief operating officer, Stark Enterprises. “SCG has the unique ability to structure complex transactions, and is consistently able to secure the most favorable terms available through a variety of institutional and private capital sources, which is crucial for Stark Enterprises as we aggressively expand our portfolio. SCG partners include private equity investors, insurance companies, pension and opportunity funds, family offices and high net worth individuals.” Nico Bolzan will serve as Executive Director of SCG. With more than 20 years of senior leadership in business development, capital markets, asset management and structured finance for real property markets across a national platform, Bolzan will lead efforts to raise both equity and debt financing through a variety of private and institutional capital sources on a national level. Bolzan has identified three types of opportunities in the marketplace for Stark Enterprises. These include ground-up development and redevelopment, recapitalization of existing assets and the acquisition of income- producing properties that have a value add component. In terms of its acquisition profile, Bolzan says the company is seeking Class B or higher quality income producing commercial real estate assets valued anywhere from $5-50 million. “This investing style is low-risk, value-added and will focus on income-producing assets across the Midwest and East Coast,” said Bolzan. “We want to aggressively acquire real estate assets that combine a healthy income return for our partners along with a solid appreciation that comes from Stark’s ability to operate the real estate and add value through our management and leasing expertise.”
  14. ^Yep, good eye. They must have done that today.

  16. Its great that work has started on the Foundry. Funny going into that Fox8 piece I was expecting to learn absolutely nothing new about the project. They actually had some new info to offer. Huh...
  17. Just wanted to use Paul's awesome photo to illustrate the various projects underway or about to start.
  18. 28 minutes ago Michelle J. McFee ‏mjarboe[/member] @Wm_Lane @newc11 Developer says "we still have a lease" re: Toby Keith's. I'm poking around more. Been watching other cities for a while
  19. Some updated info regarding the Artcraft Building which will be converted to office space. http://www.freshwatercleveland.com/devnews/artcraft072715.aspx
  20. If this is official, why would anyone be happy about this? It could take another year to get out of this and find a replacement. Meanwhile we have a shuttered building. Not a good look. This will affect all stakeholders. Others were counting on the traffic that TK would bring to FEB. This is a setback for sure.
  21. Agreed. Also I would love to see the city take the initiative and put a streetscape plan together for that portion of Old River. New road, remove utility poles, new lighting , crosswalks. After that I bet those buildings would be snapped up quickly.
  22. Hearing that a 'Yours Truly' restaurant is slated for the NE corner of the Halle bldg. , Euclid side. Don't know time frame.
  23. This is the presentation which was part of the recent meeting open to those contractors interested in bidding on the construction of the Lakefront Pedestrian Bridge. It appears from the study that the decision remains as to if the deck will be steel or concrete as you will see when the diagram refers to 'orthotropic' or 'composite'. A lot of detail. Steel would offer a structure of reduced weight while being more expensive due to the amount of welding and prefabrication involved. Looks like groundbreaking would start summer of '16 and take about a year. http://publicworks.cuyahogacounty.us/pdf_publicworks/en-US/071315-PED-BikedesignBuildPP-Wrkshop.pdf

Cleveland Thermal sold. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2015/07/cleveland_thermal_switching_fr.html#incart_river Well this makes me very happy. I think. I say that because It sounds like the company officers will still be in place. But this polluting factory that sits within a stones throw of this city's Public Square, just adjacent to its sport complex's will eventually be shut down. This structure and company has always been a point of contention for me. Besides the release of toxic pollutants, was the total disregard of Cleveland Thermal to maintain their property in a responsible manner. It is a dump. The new company indicates the current plant will be mothballed and could be used as a site for a new 'chilled water' plant. So who knows at least the possibility of this property either being developed or the current building rehabilitated(something like the Powerhouse/Nautical) remains a possibility. It could bode well for the future of Scranton Peninsula. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2015/07/cleveland_thermal_switching_fr.html#incart_river
