Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Has RTA ever considered heated bus shelters? Other cities are doing it through grants or sponsorships. I am thinking mostly for the HealthLine because those poorly designed shelters are possibly the coldest place on earth. If you have ever experienced it you know what I mean. Here are a couple of examples in other cities: http://www.startribune.com/local/minneapolis/277268711.html http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/its-cold-outside-warm-up-in-select-downtown-boston-heated-bus-shelters-courtesy-of-tylenolr-warming-liquids-61188872.html

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
^ idk, can anyone confirm that. I think what you are seeing is just the bulkhead that was cut away last summer. It's hard to tell from those photos. I haven't been down that way since the Fall. I think it's still out for bid. Actually I am kind of worried about the boardwalk since that 'special tax' thingy was rejected. Maybe someone's can get a photo from up top.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
^Yeah idk, I have so much hope for that space. I like some parts of the Pace proposal, the marina, the phase1 layout. Phase 2/3 and what appears to be four or five story apartments I don't believe is the best use of that space. But that plan will probably change over the next 5+ years, who knows. If it was up to me and until a solid plan comes along I would like to see a Voinivich park/Perk park like setting. Something that could be used throughout the summer and as a place for before and after Browns games. Like a muni lot alternative w/o cars. And I know I can be accused of always proposing a park somewhere but I like urban green space/big city parks, not lawns but large places where ppl/residents gather. In a city that was once known as the Forest City and currently sits at about 95% covered in concrete it is very much needed.

Meanwhile...this appeared on the recent CPC agenda: Ordinance No. 194-15(Ward 3/Councilmember Cimperman): Authorizing the Director of Port Control to lease certain warehouses located at City Docks 30 and 32 to various companies for the purposes that may include storage, movie staging, construction staging, and special events, for a term of two years, with three one-year options to renew, the third of which is exercisable through additional legislative authority. Which probably means Cumberland/Pace is at least 3-5 years away from any real movement on that property. Well at least Ingenuity Fest is safe for awhile.

Regarding the bridge: I am definitely bummed about this. I don't share the optimism that this is a good thing. Delays are rarely a good thing. The passion changes, costs always go up and some will use it as a political football. We were that close. I put most of the blame on the new county leadership who I don't believe has the same understanding of how vital downtown Cleveland is to the region. Say what you want about Fitzgerald but he 'got' downtown. I would move forward with it as is, if it takes another 6 months so be it. At least it would be underway.

Let's just be glad the company stayed and expanded in the city. Its a nondescript building but it serves their purpose. And cleans that corner up a bit.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Agreed I am really stoked for the area. This project is a game changer. And hopefully the proposed park can come together. Would love to see those scattered buildings come down across 25th. and open up the views. Also does anyone know the status of the Adobe project by the market. I think there has been some demo.

But on the other side if you live at Lakeview you are probably thinking, "they are finally going to build something nice to look at on that crappy parking lot"...

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
This could go in a few places. Anyway here it is in PDF http://t.co/aKu6vGUnsb The Urban Land Institute Cleveland (btw headquartered in Westlake..lol) has released their 2015 Real Estate Trends for NEO. Main points drawn from the responses are: •Generally, the Cleveland market is good for the real estate business, and consensus is that it should be better next year. •Respondents expect to see a good profitability in real estate businesses in 2015, especially apartment/multi-family developers. •The most important issues for real estate investment and development in 2015 are construction costs, vacancy rates, land costs, and infrastructure funding/development. •Apartments are the most active sector in Northeastern Ohio now. •Northeastern Ohio is also seen as better for multifamily developers and private local real estate owners compared to other markets. •Though inflation and interest rates are expected to increase modestly in the next few years, most respondents are optimistic about capital availability and believe they are in good position with respect to f inancing. •Retail is viewed cautiously with a shift away from large regional centers to smaller community based retail. •The hottest submarkets are identified as University Circle, Downtown Cleveland and Bay Village/ Westlake, in which respondents expect good and excellent real estate prospects. •All respondents regard the economic health of the region as vital to continued growth. •Over one third of respondents think taking into account wellness- and health-related building or design features in businesses are important

Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway District: Development and News
The RNC thread is locked but it involves Gateway East. How Geis Companies took action to ensure the RNC chose Cleveland http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20150308/SUB1/303089987?template=mobile&X-IgnoreUserAgent=1#ATHS You'd think the proposal would have made Greg Geis — or any developer — run away. Design a temporary conversion of the Gateway East parking garage into a 300,000-square-foot office building to serve as the media center for the 2016 Republican National Convention. Do it without the benefit of specifications or blueprints. Do it in 10 days. And, oh yeah, do it all for free. It took less than two minutes for Geis to agree.

It looks like they are going through www.villagegreen.com I don't see any floor plans but there are more renderings and a price sheet available. http://www.villagegreen.com/cleveland/flats-east-bank/photos/ Mods may move your question to the relocation thread which I can't seem to find right now. Good luck.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Rough showing last night. Cavs will be successful when they listen to the coaches, play defense and share the ball. Interior D was awful last night, lesser talent just driving to the basket all night long. This team gets easily frustrated at times especially on the road.

Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway District: Development and News
So up thread I posted about the proposed renovations to the Q. Armond Budish(aka Mr. Beachwood) speaking with the editorial board at NEOMG suggested a proposal will come soon. And believes the renovations could be complete before the RNC. Really how is this possible, we are talking 140mil. I like aggressive but this doesn't seem possible. Notice to all construction workers - move to Cleveland, NOW...What are we going to do with ourselves after the big party? http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2015/03/cuyahoga_county_executive_armond_budish_expects_quicken_loans_arena_overhaul_proposal_soon_5_takeawa.html#incart_m-rpt-1

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Good to see the Cavs 'discovering' James Jones. This guy is the Cavs version of Dr. Smooth. High BB IQ, never panics, can get his shot off in traffic. Works great with LBJ. Goods heads up player. He has more game than I remember.
