Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
So this is for traffic signal upgrade across the city. Hopefully a good majority of these will focus on the CBD and some of the popular neighborhoods. 4 mil dollars should buy a lot of traffic signals. Maybe this will replace a lot of the span-wire signals downtown with a more updated look. Idk I'm just quessing. Citywide Traffic Signal Upgrade Valuation: $4,000,000 Owner Type: Public Location: OH (Cuyahoga) Report #: 201000499431 v. Project Type: Tower/Signal System Type of Work: Alterations

Cleveland: Downtown: Halle Building + Annex Conversion
I don't know how they do it but ForestCity always gets top dollar for their holdings. They fleeced Gilbert a couple of times. Would be nice if they would dump some of that back into Cleveland and not NY/San Fran/ DC etc.

Cleveland: North Coast Transportation Center
^Always interested to see what your ideas are when thinking about the NCTC. But here are my concerns when anything is proposed for the area that Amtrak now occupies. I believe that one of the best views we have of NCH is looking down from the mall. It's bad enough that we have to look past RR tracks/highways, but by adding Greyhound we would now be looking at the tops of rows and rows of parked buses and cars. Since you have something of a 'voice' in these discussion please try and avoid adding more 'visable' vehicles to that area. Without adding a parking garage with a green roof I don't see how Greyhound would work there. I am OK with keeping Greyhound separate from Amtrak and the land east of E9th would be my choice for them. And although I don't like it I can live with Amtrak where they are if a new contemporary station can be built closer to E9th with the small parking area that they need. Also below is a photo of the preferred site for a parking garage that the city has identified through a study by Desmond Associates. How about that site as a possibility for either both Greyhound/Amtrak or just Greyhound alone. Spaces in the garage could be reserved for Greyhound/Amtrak cars and buses. If Amtrak was a part of it an enclosed walkway would bring passengers to the boarding area. This would clear up the area now occupied by Amtrak and provide a much better view from the mall and the banquet hall at the CC.

Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway District: Development and News
RNC by the Numbers. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2014/12/republican_national_convention.html 300,000: Square footage needed for a media center. Gateway East is an option. "We asked the city if we could tear it apart, use it and give it back, and the city said yes,". Referenced in this article, Gateway East the parking garage next to Progressive Field is being 'eyed' as a potential media center for the RNC. A facility of 300,000 sq ft is needed. So they will take this parking garage and turn it into a building with walls and windows and air conditioning? And will it remain that or revert back to parking. Parking at gateway will be in a crunch sometime next year when nuCLEus is under way and this conversion takes place. Will Stark have his parking component complete to help ease the shortage of garage space.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Cavs waive Will Cherry, resign A.J Price who I thought looked good during camp. He is coming off a 10 dayer with the Pacers. He was productive in his time there. Should be an upgrade at this point till Dellavedova comes back.

Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
I think the design for the Health Education Campus is beautiful. How will you not be inspired to attend class there every day. This willl position Case at the forefront of med schools. An incredible recruitment tool. Understand this project started at a modest 80k sq ft and 100m. It is now a true campus at over 400k sq ft and 250m dollars. With upper chester and this project that area is going thru a huge transformation.

The link to that page just goes to a login. Maybe it's over.

Looks like Intesa has gone the Vestor route. It's only for 1.5m so maybe they are just filling in some shortfall in the financing. http://www.vestor.co/offerings?t=potential

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Superior Avenue portfolio sees ownership change; ArtCraft Building first to be renovated By Michelle Jarboe McFee, The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND, Ohio -- An ownership shift on Cleveland's Superior Avenue could lead to large investments in existing buildings - and longer-term development prospects - along one of the major corridors leading into downtown. Global X, a company that specializes in tax credits and other real estate financing tools, recently acquired a stake in a cluster of buildings, land and parking lots just east of the central business district. The quiet deal gives Global X a significant say over what will happen north and south of Superior between East 22nd Street and the Inner Belt http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/11/superior_avenue_portfolio_sees.html#incart_river

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
idk so I ask does the RTA board ride every morning? And if not-why not. Why the People in Charge of Transit Systems Should Be Required To Actually Ride Transit. http://www.citylab.com/cityfixer/2014/09/why-the-people-in-charge-of-transit-systems-should-be-required-to-actually-ride-transit/379931/ In 2008, the vice chair of New York's MTA board famously asked: "Why should I ride and inconvenience myself when I can ride in a car?"

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
Just snooping around and found the Pinterest page of an urban designer who works out of the NBBJ Boston office. The subject is NuCLEus Precedent Research. The examples are most likely what we might see whenever the first design is released. Take note of the facade on some of the garage images as that is a big part of this project. So it might be that the work will be done by NBBJ/Boston unless this designer was just doing some work for the CBus office. http://www.pinterest.com/kevconant/nucleus-precedent-research/

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Yes I was thinking that also but as you read a few more articles about this you discover that they are simply hanging fiber-optic cable along CPP utility poles. Not very cutting edge but cheap. And if there is a category that Cle leads the civilized world in, it's the amount of utility poles per square mile, or it might just seem that way. It kind of tempers my enthusiasm for this somewhat. Meaning it might be harder to bury some utility lines somewhere if it is part of this network.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Regarding Lebron I would sit him down for a month if needed. The first 30 games of an NBA season are just about meaningless. If he is hurt why risk it, we can survive at this point in the season w/o him. Let the others work together. Also I don't understand the Joe Harris Experience. Why is my second round draft choice playing these crucial minutes. How he is playing over Marion who is off to a good start or taking away minutes from Dion is beyond me. Harris has like 9 baskets so far. Does Blatt think that any team is worried about Joe Harris in the corner, especially the world champs. He's active on defense, well ok. It was Marion who disrupted Rondo in the Boston game after he switched off with Harris with about 5 sec to go. I not busting on Harris but when your a 2nd rounder with a 4 year college career that usually means you sit on the bench until your needed. I want Marion in for the final minutes, give the other team someone to worry about.

I always hoped someone would build something very modern and glassy on top of the flatiron building, and complete the triangle. Well they did mention maybe a rooftop patio, I guess we will start there. btw mjarboe[/member] posted these two early photos of that intersection. The first from the late 1800`s the other from the early 1900`s.

Details of the new communications network are to be presented at a press conference Friday. City officials and OneCommunity executives were not commenting Tuesday, but sources said the city will announce a major federal grant that will allow the project to go forward. Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Something called Beach Taco slated for FEB over at design review. That came out of nowhere. What's confusing though is that it shows it to be located where I thought Paninis was supposed to go with a two story location on the river. Has anyone heard that they are out. The FEB website still does list Paninis as a part of phase 2 so I am not sure what the plan is. There are other photos at design review including what appears to be an updated leasing plan. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2014/11212014/index.php
