  1. Also the webcam has not been 'live' since the 10th.
  2. Rumored Browns helmet from @TheRealTRizzo I like the concept if this is legit. But I would like to see the reverse of this, with the helmet being brown with some orange. I am not a traditionalist when it comes to this, I want something new. And I know most wouldn't agree but I think the main color should be brown with orange being the accent color. Same with the uni's. But I do like this.
  3. Well this came out of the blue, so to speak. When originally proposed the new addition in the upper stands was all blue. I questioned it along with others. Well someone must read this forum because the latest render from the planning commish shows it as green which looks so much better. Almost like dave68 proposed up thread.
  4. Drury financing still in doubt? Some work has begun on the project, which originally had a fall 2015 opening date. But in June the 180-room boutique hotel near the new Cleveland Convention Center was shut out of a round of state historic tax credits. Herb Wedemeier, general counsel for the St. Louis-based hotel company, told Crain's last Thursday, Sept. 11, that the firm will be seeking a state tax credit in a round that has a Sept. 30 deadline. “The state historic credit is an essential part of this project,” he said. “We feel confident we will get the award this time.” Wedemeier said the company is targeting a late-2015 or early-2016 opening, though he conceded, “The big deadline, of course, is that you've got a big convention coming to town.” http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20140914/SUB1/309149987/delayed-kimpton-hotel-set-to-open-downtown-in-2015
  5. Architect chosen to design pedestrian walkway to lakeshore Council unanimously voted to pay Parsons Brinckerhoff, a Detroit-based engineering firm, $2.8 million to design the bridge, which will span the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway and railroad tracks and connect to the Rock Hall Hall of Fame and Museum and other attractions. http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2014/09/architect_for_pedestrian_walkway_to_lakeshore_chosen_3_things_you_need_to_know_about_tuesdays_cuyaho.html#incart_m-rpt-1 Is Rosales still partnered with PB on this? Because it doesn't mention them.
  6. Watching a movie right now called 'The Rocker', (UVerse FXM 1792) from 2008. Shot in Toronto but set in Cleveland with a lot of shots of downtown/RockHall/Stadium etc. Never heard of it with Rainn Wilson, Emma Stone...it's not bad. Be on again Thurs. Here is the wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rocker_(film)
  7. smallboxcle 11 hours ago Because we can't keep it to ourselves any longer... Stayed tuned for a big announcement this week!
  8. In 1960 Architect I. M. Pei authored a master plan which featured groups of low-rise buildings contrasted with taller towers. Erieview Tower was to serve as the hub of the project and was to feature a plaza and reflecting pool in the area stretching from the tower west to East 9th Street. And although not a vintage photo, here is a piece from the NewYorkTimes circa 1987 about Cleveland's downtown boom. It is interesting comparing the numbers and the quotes with today as you read it. http://www.nytimes.com/1987/11/15/realestate/focus-cleveland-downtown-making-a-comeback.html
  9. There were times when I thought a miracle could be the only thing that could save the Breuer from 20 years of darkness. It really is amazing what has happened. Can't wait for that whole corner along with the Shofield to be complete. So I wonder what's next for Geis? They don't seem the type to just rest on their laurels. They had a 1 year option on the land near Burke but that could be up by now. Of course they are still pretty much invested in MidTown also.
  10. And this is in the Phase 2 thread why?

  13. Nah, it was the Opportunity Corridor which spurred it! It was clearly LeBron...
  14. I don't get the whole fascination with IKEA. But apparently everybody wants one. How about one at FEB at the WFL loop. That would be a coup for them for sure. It would create a lot of buzz and drive the retail developers in the burbs crazy.
  15. ^^OK thnx for that, still looking for the list. Also in Michelle's article above she mentions that the current YMCA which is owned by CSU is 'currently negotiating a sale'. Terry Coyne is the broker. Here is the listing http://looplink.cleveland.ngkf.com/ll/18750353/2200-Prospect-Avenue/
  16. Here is a fairly recent (last couple of years) building prospective for the tower/galleria, breaks down what is available. http://www.hannachartwell.com/listings-docs/186.pdf btw does anyone have the original store directory for the opening of the Galleria? Would be interesting. Can't find it anywhere.
  17. August 25. 2014 4:30AM Lake views, Edgewater Beach greenery attract prolific developer By STAN BULLARD Real estate developer Andrew Brickman’s Solon-based Brickhaus Partners has lined up a site for another townhouse project in Cleveland’s Edgewater neighborhood before even breaking ground on its nearby project at the former Fifth Church of Christ building at Lake Avenue and West 117th Street. This time, the potential site is another church, the former St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 9509 Lake Ave., which overlooks Edgewater Beach of the Cleveland Metroparks. The church was available because it merged in June with Bethany English Lutheran Church, at 15460 Triskett Road in Cleveland. Brickman said he put the St. Thomas site under contract because he has more prospective purchasers for the project at West 117th than Brickhaus can accommodate. Brickhaus received city approval in June to develop the city-owned church site as more than 12 townhouses. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20140825/BLOGS14/140829883?template=mobile&X-IgnoreUserAgent=1#ATHS
  18. There was a discussion up thread about the absence of RTA signs around the TowerCity area providing visitors more info as to the locations of trains in the city. I agree that TC is a mystery to most visitors who are not aware of the trains/stores/movie theaters that are a short walk away. I always thought there should be outdoor mall directory signs showing stores and movie times that would be placed around the CBD. So PositivelyCleveland has hired www.appliedwayfinding.com recently to devise a master plan for better wayfinding around the city. An article in Crains addresses the RTA situation. On a typical workday, more than 200 RTA trains stop at Tower City, where about 30,000 people step on and off the Red, Blue, Green and Waterfront lines. This is Cleveland's main transit station. The trains under the Terminal Tower can take visitors and tourists to airports, museums, a stadium, a university, dozens of communities and lots more. But that's only if visitors and tourists know there are trains inside the building. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20140824/BLOGS08/308249996/cleveland-is-finally-connecting-the-dots Also from PositivelyCleveland about the company. http://www.thisiscleveland.com/articles/view/positively-cleveland-presents-wayfinding-connectivity-plans/732/
  19. July Update CONSTRUCTION Sheeting the site to stabilize the site will be complete in July and excavation to haul out unneeded soil will continue into August. •10,000 CY of soil are expected to be hauled out to various fill sites. Concrete foundations to support the structure began early July. •8,300 CY of concrete and 800 tons of reinforcing steel are anticipated for the foundations. Underground plumbing and electrical began in early July. •11,520 onsite working manhours are anticipated by the end of July. Tower cranes are in extremely high demand right now due to an apparent “building boom” across the nation, but the construction team was able to secure one. This crane will eventually reach almost 400’ tall as the hotel’s tower is erected. The main function of the crane will be to construct the concrete tower. It will also serve various other functions around the site (i.e. equipment deliveries, miscellaneous structural steel erection, etc.). To date, 301 workers have come onsite for construction. DESIGN The design team continues to work through, coordinate, and finalize the design for permitting and construction. •Foundations, underground utilities, and structural steel design drawings have been released for permitting. •A progress print is scheduled to be released by the end of July. •50% construction documents are expected to be released late August. SCHEDULE Construction continues to remain on-schedule! Concrete foundations will continue through August into September for steel erection. •Crews are working multiple shifts 6-7 days a week in order to fast-track the schedule. Steel fabrication in Kansas City, Missouri, begins on July 25. •All steel is expected to be fabricated over a 16 week period. Steel erection on-site is slated to begin in September. •All steel is expected to be erected over a 13 week period
  20. ^That's a good call. Going back to the article about the Garfield building purchase Millennia indicated they were looking at additional properties to move about 200 employees from Valley View and would need about 30k sq ft for that and also adding: "We're in the market for a building that could be a mixed-use building with both offices and apartments," he said, declining to identify specific properties. "That's how excited the Millennia Companies is about downtown."
  21. Couple of videos from WKYC about FirstEnergy renovation. Including the lifting of a Ford truck into the stadium. Browns indicate all major construction will be complete by the wkd. Judging from the webcams looks like a lot of finish work still needs to be done. I suspect that will go into the next couple of weeks. http://www.wkyc.com/story/sports/nfl/browns/2014/08/20/browns-ford-lift/14371503/ http://www.wkyc.com/story/news/local/cuyahoga-county/2014/08/19/changes-for-browns-game-on-saturday/14320057/
  22. ^You're saying it's fully funded. I though they were still short from not getting the TIGER? OK, 10 from the city,10 from the county, 5 from the state. I was thinking they needed 30...guess not.
