Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I had forgotten about that space but apparently the same group who planned to reopen JohnQ's also planned a nightclub and restaurant in the old Cadillac space. I was thinking with the apparent sale of the May Co. those plans were on hold. So I am not sure what is going on...From June 2013: The Legndary Group has signed a lease and is currently remodeling the former Cadillac Ranch (most recently BarRoom) in Cleveland to house a Las Vegas-style night club. Donnie Burton, a Cleveland native and president of The Legndary GCE Group, plans to open a tapas-style restaurant in the front room with a high-end dance and entertainment venue in the building’s rear space. The French restauarant will be called Chateau, while the club in the rear will be called The Bank — Cleveland. Legndary currently operates the Rumor Lounge in Cleveland. http://www.rejournals.com/2013/06/12/cresco-cbre-close-deal-paving-way-for-new-nightclub-french-restaurant-in-cleveland/ Back story from the peedee: http://www.cleveland.com/dining/index.ssf/2013/05/john_qs_cleveland_landmark_wil.html

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
Would be awesome to have that corner lit up again after about 75 yrs of darkness. Maybe those International Heritage Ctr. plans are being dusted off. I remember an article in the peedee about 8 yrs ago the Metroparks was one of the partners being recruited to make that happen. Or how about the CVSR talk of that being the Cle terminus at one time. BTW it's nice to see the Metroparks taking what seems to be such an interest in downtown. That building would make a kick ass boutique hotel with a restaurant at street level. Also didn't that building at one have a cupola? Here's the cupola...

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Unless Minnesota panicks at some point and makes a bad trade, I just don't see Chicago/GoldenState having the assets to do the deal. To make it work they would both have to decimate their roster, and give up too many pieces. We have the pieces/draft picks/expired contracts to make it happen. IMO we hold the cards.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
I'm going to disagree on the Flats portion. It's always been a mess, kids throwing trash, car accidents, people having sex in cars or behind cars in parking lots, kids barfing left and right, people jumping in the water. I do agree, once PS is made over it will connect East 4th with TC via Euclid and CC/MM Via Ontario. Lets hope the PS rehab has the same affect Perk Parks has had. People love the park, more apartments are coming on line and when the Le Meridien comes online, it's guests will use it as a quiet spot. Well the majority of that was alcohol driven.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
^ That looks to be some type of premium seating that will be boxed off. Probably sponsored driven. You can it see about halfway through this video.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
I believe envirement plays a huge part in peoples behavior. Those who present themselves in a certain way in one place will act completely different In other areas. Ever see people out of control at the art museum? Would the same individuals create a disturbance in a nice restaurant? I think EdgewaterPark is a perfect example. Even though the improvements there are just in the beginning stages, 5 years ago you wouldn't feel comfortable there and you would encounter the same types of things you see at PS today. The change in behavior has been dramatic with work still to be done. When the Flats was in it's best days there was order and civility. As it degraded and the atmosphere changed, peoples behavior did also. PS has certainly degraded to a point where it can affect peoples behavior. I believe with the makeover of PS along with the addition of new residents around it and the hopeful new construction on the Jacobs lot, things will change for the better.

Ding Ding Ding That's it exactly. I actually had that same thought recently, go figure. 7-10 stories tall, how awesome would that look lit up at night. And your right they would be holding ore carriers. Someone needs to do a rendering of that. I'll see what I can comes up with. One could have an observation deck on top. That would be sic...

Cleveland: Downtown: Halle Building + Annex Conversion
^^Well that came out of nowhere. The last we heard FCE was considering a Halle conversion. Guess someone reminded them that they don't invest in Cleveland. A surprise about the Halle garage, that's great news. Please put some windows in those openings asap. Someone do the same over at the May co. garage...

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Last night was the first time I got to see the other Canadian Dwight Powell and he looks good. Cavs got a steal when they took him from Charlotte. He is the guy who held Wiggins to 4 pts in the tourney. So we could have a sleeper here. Here is his pre draft workout.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
So Wiggins and Bennett were held out of the SL game tonite. Cavs said that was planned all along. Whatever. I kind of feel sorry for Wiggins being just 19 and having to deal with all this chatter about his future, that's a lot of pressure to come into. I think he has performed pretty well considering that. Says a lot about him. As far as the possibly trade, if we learned anything from last week it's not to believe any of these stupid sources and relentless twitter rumors where about 99.9% were wrong. The only thing anybody knows is what those involved have purposely leaked.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
An RFP has been released for the design of the bridge that would connect the mall and the lakefromt. Unclear at this point if a parking garage will be involved in the design. I searched and searched for the RFP, it might not be posted yet...idk Steve Litt's article today. http://www.cleveland.com/architecture/index.ssf/2014/07/cleveland_cuyahoga_county_and.html#incart_river The county, which is managing the project, this week released a Request for Qualifications to elicit proposals from design teams interested in the $25 million project. The deadline for responses is Aug 1. According to the document, the partners hope to have a preliminary design for the walkway bridge by Feb. 13, 2015. The goal is to finish construction by the spring of 2016, in time for the anticipated Republican National Convention in Cleveland. A design-build team for the bridge will be chosen by June 2015, according to the RFQ for the bridge design team. The initial design team is to carry the concept to 30 percent completion, and then stay on to review and approve final designs created by the design-build team, according to the RFQ document.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
You have to wonder if Embiid had not been injured and we selected him, would a trade for Love even be considered. Wiggins was not at the top of the Cavs board so how invested in him are they. It would be a huge cost for Love, not just Wiggins but other pieces to match the monies. Unless Lebron is literally demanding Love, I would wait it out unless I can get Love without Wiggins.

Cleveland: North Coast Transportation Center
I am sure these are preliminary designs for the parking deck, so I can only go with the only rendering we have seen so far. But from the looks of the parking garage the roof or top floor looks like there will be parking spaces with a ramp going down. To me that would be a disaster. The last thing that should be seen as you look down from the mall is a row of cars on top of the garage. The top should be a green roof with no parking spaces. But that may mean adding another floor to accommodate those lost spaces. But I just think visually it would not be appealing. I hope that can be addressed as the design evolves.
