Cleveland: Random Development and News
^That would be tremendous news. Although if someone down the road would apply for tax credits I wonder how that would limit the ability to either add some type of facade or to punch holes in for windows. If that wall was all windows and with a revamped PS that would be dramatic, especially at night.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Just posted so we can refer to it when discussing empty downtown lots. If you are paying attention you'll know what lots are no longer in use. The dollar amounts at this point are just an estimate.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Well I think you are overstating the concern about Kyrie. The big question about Kyrie was injury. And the only person who thought about drafting Derrick Williams over Kyrie was Dan Gilbert. I just think we have or can get ppl who do what Parker does, it would be much harder to get what Andrew Wiggins can do.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Like Bennett, Parker will be slow at the 3 and undersized at the 4. Their both tweeners with great offensive skills while displaying a lack of defensive effort. With Wiggins the consensus over the last three years with those in the know is that he will be 'special'. That was the same kind of buzz Kyrie was receiving. He is less of a long term risk with a high reward.

Embiid was my guy, that's who I wanted. But that's not going to happen. I am going with Wiggins. For the most part because I drafted Jabari Parker last year in Anthony Bennett. Give me three years of similar minutes and no injuries and I think Bennett would come out on top. He is more explosive and can change a game with his play. And now he has something to prove. Let's see if he rises up. We have passed up to many SF's the last 4 years. Let's take Wiggins and see what happens. If they trade the pick...who knows.

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
While I am happy for the May Co. building I can't help but feel that this Bill that was passed comes across as somewhat self-serving. Although not surprising considering John Carney is involved, because no one is more politically connected than the Carney name in Cleveland. I am worried that other projects like the Drury that consider themselves worthy of this mega award may put their project on hold for two more years till they can apply for it. With that I will try not to be so cynical and hope this new provision does some good things.

Cleveland: Downtown: Millennia's Garfield Bldg & HQ Developments
^Never worry about too many restaurants or hotels. The best will survive. That's how you maintain a strong inventory of stable businesses. When you are in the service industry you must work everyday to make yourself better. If you do that you have less to worry about. I say bring on the competition, the strong will survive.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
This could go in various threads but I will leave it here. Columbus Road is a path for growth June 22. 2014 4:30AM By STAN BULLARD Sam McNulty plans to build a townhouse for himself as part of a residential development he's working on at Columbus Road and Abbey Avenue. He bought the long-empty, gravel-covered site earlier this year because it's less than a five-minute walk from the office next to the West Side Market where McNulty and his partners run five nearby beer-centric businesses. Brian and Muriel Storrie have bought a three-story townhouse that is under construction on the slope of Columbus west of the bridge. For now, it will be a getaway location from their home in Little Rock, Ark. Later it will be a full-time home after Brian Storrie eases into retirement from college teaching. Such disparate motivations are starting to help rejuvenate Columbus Road, which has played a central role in Cleveland historically but has been bypassed by more recent redevelopment action nearby in the Flats and adjoining city neighborhoods and downtown. But now, Columbus Road — best known now for being the home of Hooples bar and the pioneering Irishtown Bend townhouses from the early 2000s, as well as a handful of frame homes and old industrial buildings — is starting to get its turn at a second act. Driving the momentum is its walking- and bike-riding distance to the popular, housing-short Tremont and Ohio City neighborhoods and the West Side Market; its proximity to downtown attractions; and a growing number of recreation options, including rowing on the Cuyahoga River. David Sharkey, a partner in Cleveland-based Civic Builders, which is constructing the home for the Storries as part of its Columbus Hill project, sees the street as a key crossroads. “It's in the middle of everything and the middle of nowhere at the same time,” Sharkey said, thanks to tree-covered slopes that mask views of the West Side in the summer. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20140622/SUB1/306229973?template=mobile&X-IgnoreUserAgent=1

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
So it looks like construction south of 90 has begun. Which includes the removal of the two ramps to 77 and the realignment of Orange ave. to something less cluttered than it is now. I know ramps are not that exciting but it will clean up that area and remove two roads. It states the realignment of the roads would be ready this fall with the rest coming later.

Cleveland Rapid Rail Construction Projects (Non-Service Issues)
^Well I can see the Brookpark redo is getting a big response. Yeah I don't blame you. Why does it seem that RTA saves its least innovative design for the westside. Isn't the Brookpark station one of the most travelled. This thing looks like a Sheetz. All it needs is a half dozen gas pumps in front of it and a slurpee poster in the window. But considering the embarrasment that is there now, I won't complain. Please just no purple...like that thing at E55.

Question about the Lincoln Storage building near the new Cedar RTA station in one of the other threads. CWRU currently uses a part of it for storage but has plans to convert it for their ThinkBOX program. As far as I can tell 13 of the 20 mil needed has been raised. CWRU has so much going on it's hard to tell where it fits in priority wise. StudioTECHNE is the architect for the project which is described at 50k sq ft. Let's hope this one happens. And I can think of about ten other big hulking windowless buildings I wish could get the same love.
