The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
I can't see any large-scale event being held outside anywhere -- period. Why would anyone want to stand around outside in a wide-open area freezing their butts off with no booze for more than 15-30 minutes? You can't drink. You can't duck in-and-out of warm bars. You have to use porta-potties. I think the last time they did this on Public Square, there was maybe 100 people there. I think a public event on East 4th could easily draw twice that. ;) I know it's NY but this is TimesSquare right now. With temps expected to be in the high teens tonite and no drinking on the square. So it's happening somewhere.

Cleveland: Random Quick Questions
^Although it had it's official ribbon cutting, I think vendor build-out will continue into 2014. Their website indicates a mid year opening to the public. http://www.theglobalcenter.com/

Cleveland: Downtown: Hilton Cleveland
To me this parking discussion is a non-issue. I believe the current solution will be to set aside spaces at Willard. And yes that garage is in need of repair so hopefully this will speed up the work that needed to be done anyway. When the casino opened everyone bitched and complained when RockGaming said they wanted a garage attached to the venue. Everyone feared that nobody was going to walk outside through the streets. Now everybody wants parking attached to the hotel so nobody has to go outside. Doesn't make any sense. There will be adequate parking available. Hopefully within the next 3-5 years a garage will be planned across the tracks as part of a larger development.

I sure would like to see Bynum at the end of one of these games soon. A big man that can shoot free throws. Time to give it a try.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
^Great! Good find at 12:30 in the morning. It's going to be interesting to see how all of these buildings tie together in some way. From the site plan they all look rather scattered. The great thing about the olde Flats was that you could easily go from one place to another. It was very walkable especially in cold weather. I hope that area gets to the point where something other than food/entertainment is considered. A small walkable retail area that could sustain itself would be my hope in the long run.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I know that. I just meant Kyrie in general even though he is averaging 20 a game has pretty much been a non-factor. Last night was last night, even his body language gave an indication he may be trying to do too much and it's messing with his game.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Man what is up with Kyrie. He has got to be putting up the quietest 20 pts/game ever. He just seems out of it and not really interested. Or does the prospect of him having to lead MikeBrowns offense really getting him down. Also I was a big proponent of drafting Anthony Bennett but either start him at the 3 or put him in Canton for about 20 games and let him play 40 minutes. Because right now he is clueless. And he's not gonna learn playing 5 min a night.

Cleveland: Campus District
From the renderings I can see where some retail would make sense. But I am not that concerned about it. There is certain to be activity along Euclid with students coming in and out and using that area as a meeting place and work area. What will be accomplished with another JimmyJohns or PizzaHut in those spaces. I am much more interested in the prospect of 500 students venturing out into the surrounding area and finding the services and goods that they need as opposed to taking the elevator to the lobby and walking twenty feet into a store right outside the building.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
I can't believe it was only last year I was bemoaning the fact that the Breuer as I saw it was 3-5 years away from anything significant happening, let alone it being cleaned up in the short time that it has. I have to give props to not only Geis but Ed Fitzgerald for moving this, the county building and the convention hotel along at breakneck speeds. Tower looks great.

Cleveland: Skylift Aerial Tram
Amen! Cleveland will never be a tourist destination of any magnitude. We need jobs and livable neighborhoods. Amen. Amen to what? That ridiculous article is sure getting run among all the haters. Yeah Minneapolis is a great example as they're about to spend over 1 Billion dollars for a new stadium, because as we all know there is no poverty in Minneapolis. Oh and I hope she enjoys spending time at the very 'urban friendly Mall of America. ..As Ozzie Guillen would say puh-leeze.

Peter B. Lewis, Progressive Insurance Chairman passes away at 80
^lol No one wants Progressive back in the city more than me. And I loved the Gehry design. But being that the man just passed I would like to say RIP, you were a true pioneer. You lived your life as you wanted, and remained a liberal to the end. Thank you for your contribution to this city.

Cleveland sports talk radio
WTAM were actually the original call letters when the station first signed on air. When Nick Mileti bought the station sometime in the 70's those letters were changed to WWWE. During the 90's the right leaning ClearChannel broadcasting corp. changed it back to WTAM and it became the mouth piece for the republican party through it's most important day parts, from BillWills to GlennBeck to MushLimpjaw to Trivissano to Boob Franz. And that's my objective opinion
