Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I know I have posted this photo before but with Ed Fitzgerald suggesting we recognize the Great Lakes Exposition in some way, replicating the bridge that stood for a couple of years would seem to be the perfect way to do it. Built for a cost of 80k it was a great addition at that time. Of course now there are a few more obstacles to hurdle like the horrible oddly placed (why it wasn't built closer to e9th so it would better connect with the street) Amtrak station, but it could be a temporary fix that would also honor the past. I am all for the current proposal but financing seems to be an issue that will be tough to overcome. I am sure cooperate donors and naming rights could be the solution for this connection.

Guys it doesn't have to be an iPhone (IOS). There are a number of apps available on GooglePlay and Windows that are available for free and purchase. Also Android has a baked-in manager that will locate your device where you will have a number of control options. Go to https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager and try to locate your own android phone.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Cavs fortunate to win tonite. I know it's early but we still can't get any scoring inside the paint. Would like to see what Bynum looks like at the end of the game. Might be less of Irving dribbling into trouble in the final seconds.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Its great that this station will finally be replaced. But with all due respect this station is now and has been an embarrassment for so long. Its bad enough locals have had to deal with it but it's also one of the first impressions for out of owners coming from the airport. The new station is three years away, in the meantime can we at least give it a fresh coat of paint. I really don't understand leadership that allows something to look like this for so long.

Wouldn't it be funny if in some bizzaro world arts/culture/science was the measuring stick for the perceived stature of a city as opposed to professional sports. Cleveland would be perrenial champions.

The photo above indicates the arch would be preserved and relocated. Are we just assuming that means it will be part of the hotel project or could it mean it might be relocated elsewhere.

I like it. Although I was kind of hoping for field turf. And I wish they would of pulled a Dan Gilbert and replaced all those horrible orange seats. I hate those...Oh and a big chandelier over the 50 yard line.

Idk unless the curtain wall is misleading I got 39 stories, not floors.

All in all I am ok with the tower being up against the mall. And I think that is mostly driven by the proximity of the Justice Ctr. I think they feared guests being able to stare at JimmyDimora in cellblock #13 which would be about 75 ft away. And even though it goes against what I perceive as tradition of the mall layout I do like the way it hugs that corner. I'm waiting for more detail of the east facade it's hard to judge from the current renders. This building is definitely going to shake things up a bit, which is great. Also from what I saw of the presentation yesterday it was indicated that the podium will most likely have a green roof and that is in the budget. He made it sounds like it will be an event space. And as far as the 2 level space toward the top of the building. It doesn't say it won't be open to the public, it only says it can be rented out. I'm sure there will opportunities for the general public to visit it. Lastly why is everyone in the media reporting this to be a 25 story building. Unless the renderings are misleading I count 38 floors or levels. Count the floors it's obvious. Hotel/resedential floors are about 3.1meters. The floors in the podium will be taller. In comparison a newly constructed 38 floor hotel in HoChiMin is 135meters about 443 feet.

^Wow, that's a beautiful building. Give me 30 floors of that.

This remimds me of a building you would see in Vancouver or Seattle. Overall I am pleased, but also confused. And I have to echo what others are saying. When I first envisioned this the one thing I was sure about would be for the podium to be facing the mall with the tower backing up against Ontario. I want to hear a good explanation from the architect or Litt why this building seems backwards. It doesn't follow the group plan, at all. The only reason I can think of was to distance the tower from the inJustice Ctr. I hope when design review comes around that question is raised. Other than that going to have to wait and see more detailed renderings. Because right now the mall view needs work.

Well tomorrow is THE day for the hotel design to be presented before county council. Isn't it usually a morning meeting? Can't wait to see the renderings. In the beginning I was hoping for something iconic, I have lowered my expectations somewhat. And although I believe the design firm understands how important this is to us and what a great opportunity it is for their firm I try to remind myself this is a hotel and hotels usually because of budget and design constraints are for the most part pretty bland. I think it will be nice and look different than anything we currently have. I am happy for the height though, I sure hope that holds true. Then again the only thing we can be sure about is that w28th is gonna hate it...lol

The specs show it to withstand 115 mph wind. I'm guessing when it's lit that should provide enough heat to keep the ice off. I wonder will it be lit during the day?
