  1. Palookaville closing sounds like it had little to do with saturation or bad location according to a blurb from the owner in Scene recently. Sounds like he didn't want to be there. "It was doing okay, but it was too much work for me," he says. "It gets to be a bit of a drag having to be there every day. I prefer the creative side of things."
  2. It had me at 'it lights up'. I love it. An entertainment district needs to be just that, entertaining. I consider it a public art piece. Those are always subject to criticism.
  3. Also up at design review. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2013/11012013/index.php
  4. ^ Couldn't agree more. The strong and the best will survive. You are really over thinking it when you try to micro-manage the process. In larger 24/7 cities restaurants and night clubs open and close everyday. It's not an indication of failure, It's part of the natural order of things.
  5. I can't find the rendering of it, but does anyone know what happened to the proposal to place a 'harvest moon' type sphere on top of that pedestal above the plaza. I know OHC posts here at times so maybe they will have the answer. I always thought it would look awesome at night.
  6. Thinking about how the projected apartment units went from 140 to 245 look at the below renderings. The first image is part of the Phase l site plan. The second rendering is part of the Phase ll announcement. The building in Phase ll goes completely around. So that may be where the extra units are coming from.
  7. Ohio City Incorporated, a community development corporation dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and development in Cleveland’s historic Ohio City Neighborhood, is seeking a dynamic and qualified urbanist for an entry level business and physical development position. http://ohiocity.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=237%3Aohio-city-community-survey&catid=38%3Anews-items
  8. Close your eyes if you must...
  9. Yes those have been around since last summer. But I wonder why the FEB Facebook would post those now. And now I am really confused as what is Phase ll. The rendering above depicts the area between the waterfront tracks and the new apartment complex. The site plan released with the Phase ll announcement doesn't show that as part of it. Maybe with the recent story from Michelle stating the increase in the number of apartment units from 140 to 245 has something to do with it. Looks like the area shown above which includes a parking deck could be part of it, although I haven't seen any announcement.
  10. Although Michelle said they are doing residential one building at a time I wonder if what was proposed back in 2008 to be part of the proposed parking garage between w11th and the waterfront tracks is back in play. That would seem to fit the numbers. http://www.dimitarchitects.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=61

  14. Yeah that's what I thought but the address seems further down, maybe not.
  15. Not sure what building this is going in, 11607 Euclid Ave. Cleveland is My Paris: Coquette Patisserie to Open Retail Shop in University Circle http://www.clevescene.com/cleveland/cleveland-is-my-paris-coquette-patisserie-to-open-retail-shop-in-university-circle/Content?oid=3679229
  16. ^Bring back the name Erie St. from the lakefront to the new e 9th. extention, I would love that. And bring back Pearl St. where w25th is. Sorry, back on topic.

    OC webcams anyone? http://www.pavarini.net/WSMPavoramic.htm
  18. Can't tell but it looks like the band across the top where there are no windows is set up to receive the same window panels. I hope so. All in all I think the building will have a cleaner more updated look when finished. But man this thing is like watching paint dry. If it was Gies it would be done already. Typical federal project.
  19. ^Is it possible to be in love with a building? I mean in a 'manlove building' kinda way. Should I seek professional help? It might just enter my dreams some night. Cuz I love that building. There I said it. OK that wasn't so hard...
  20. That was hilarious, and well done.
  21. ^I think those were removed sometime in the 30`s ^^Bond Clothing, one of my all time favorite buildings. http://coolhistoryofcleveland.wordpress.com/2011/02/13/the-bond-store/ Crap!! I lost my avatar. wtf
  22. E9th and Euclid sometime early 50`s after a street resurface.
  23. Keep in mind the building will not be edge to edge. The project area is about 2/3 of the available site according to an earlier county report. The total area of the site is approximately 90,000 square feet with a 60,000-square-foot buildable area. Reportedly the site will be able to accommodate a high-rise tower of 20 floors or more. Also the building will be in line with the Lakeside face of PublicHall and flush with the front of the MM. I'm guessing a building that will follow PH, BOE and the MM in size and shape, with a tower set back away from the mall towards Ontario for the hotel portion. Just a guess.
  24. Also from Litt in the above article, this is not the first time he has indicated that the hotel will be 19+ floors. I wonder is that just his best guess or does he have some inside info. I'm hoping for about 24 floors with some type of mast or crown on top.
