  1. ^Idk the windows or panels just look different. Maybe it's the rendering.
  2. ^OK thanks for that. In the rendering below the exterior appears altered. Guess we will have to wait and see.
  3. ^Sorry didn't see yours Good work Michelle. Also you indicate an opening as soon as July. Will it open in phases? And did they disclose any exterior changes. thnx. K&D closes purchase of East Ohio Building, setting stage for 223-unit apartment redevelopment By Michelle Jarboe McFee, The Plain Dealer Email the author | Follow on Twitter on September 11, 2013 at 3:55 PM, updated September 11, 2013 at 4:04 CLEVELAND, Ohio -- After nearly two years of negotiations and financial gymnastics, the shuttered East Ohio Building is poised for redevelopment as 223 apartments, the first of which will open by July. The K&D Group of Willoughby bought the downtown office tower and the adjoining parking garage Wednesday, setting the table for a $65 million residential project. A major high-rise conversion in the center city, the East Ohio plan reflects a dramatic shift in the downtown real estate market, where developers are eying large, obsolete office buildings as residential plays. Doug Price, K&D's chief executive officer, would not comment on the purchase price for the 21-story building and its 550-car parking garage. Property records were not immediately available Wednesday afternoon. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2013/09/kd_closes_purchase_of_east_ohi.html#incart_river_default
  4. Um... that game plan seemed to work out just fine for Miami. They ran the ball 20 times for a whopping 23 yards. They had better pass protection in the 2nd half of the game. Um... did you even look at the box? Tannehill had just about the same amount of completions as Weeden in 38 attempts. It was a 3 pt. game in the fourth but we are throwing the ball around like we are down by 20. Give the ball to your most talented player at that point, which is Richardson and let him break one. Look at yesterdays game stats, unless it's one of those 'shootout' games the avg pass attempts for winning teams was around 35. That's usually the case.
  5. You throw the ball 56 times you will most likely lose the game. You can only pass protect for so long. It's pretty simple.
  6. ^Thankfully, although you may not agree I think those plans were abandoned when the building was put up for auction last year. I was not a fan. That has always been one of my favorite buildings and to me its perfect for residential conversion. If that happened I could imagine windows being put into that blank wall. I hope that is the next building to be discussed. Also here is Meeshell with the rest of the story. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2012/01/railroad_union_nations_oldest.html
  7. Yep now we're just as cool as Portland...without all of those annoying streetcars.
  8. The problem? NortheastOhio continues to be represented in Washington by people who have very little influence as to where the money goes. Historically Cleveland gets back very little of the money that we contribute. Other regions who are better connected politically continue to reap the benefits of federal money. Here are a few examples of the grants that were approved. Clevelands application was no more or less worthwhile than the others. Nationally, the grants range from $18 million for Atlanta to continue developing a city-circling beltway along an old railroad corridor to $20 million for Kansas City to develop a downtown streetcar to $10 million for Indianapolis to continue converting its bus fleet to electrical vehicles. And if you really want to be annoyed go thru all of the projects. Very irritating. http://www.dot.gov/sites/dot.dev/files/docs/TIGER_2013_FactSheets_0.pdf
  9. September 06. 2013 11:01AM Cleveland again misses out on federal money for lakefront walking bridge By JAY MILLER The city of Cleveland again was unsuccessful in winning a federal transportation grant for a pedestrian bridge that would connect the lakefront museums with the Mall and the new convention center downtown. The bridge is a key piece in the $350 million downtown development plan announced by Mayor Frank Jackson and Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald in June. The U.S. Department of Transportation announced 52 projects that will share $474 million in so-called TIGER grant funds. A $17 million grant the city and Cuyahoga County sought for the bridge and an attached parking garage was not among the winning projects. The grant would have helped lakefront planners raise additional money for the lakefront plan. Neither Mayor Jackson nor Mr. FitzGerald were immediately available for comment. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20130906/FREE/130909880?template=mobile&X-IgnoreUserAgent=1

  11. This was on the Sept. 6th CPC agenda. DOWNTOWN/FLATS DESIGN REVIEW 1. DF2013-060- Proposed Demolition of Office Building Project Address: 306-310 Prospect Avenue Project Representative: Michael K. Swearengen, Esq.
  12. From the Sept. 6. agenda. Just wondering if this has anything to do with Casino Phase II or just regular maintenance. The last line is interesting. -Ordinance No. 1100-13(Ward 3/Councilmember Cimperman): Giving consent of the City of Cleveland to the Director of Transporation of the State of Ohio for the repair of the Tower City Bridge Complex; authorizing the Director of Capital Projects to enter into any relative agreements; to apply for and accept any gifts or grants for this purpose from any public or private entities; authorizing one or more contracts with consultants and agreements with public and private entities; and authorizing the Commissioner of Purchases and Supplies to acquire, accept, and record for right-of-way purposes any real property and easements necessary to make the improvement.
  13. I didn't read the article because of the title. The usual Cleveland angle. Nonsense.
  14. You are not far off with that. Yes we do have Huntington but that just recently lost tenants. There are smaller properties in the CBD like the CAC and JHB but those do have plans pending. If you think about it over the last 3-4 years and just off the top of my head the following properties have been either repurposed or are under construction: Higbees, 668, Shofield, BreuerTower and Rotunda, 1010, East Ohio Gas, the original EastOhio gas(wkyc), Eaton Ctr, Diamond Shamrock, the old NCB building, CBOE, AJCelebreeze, Hanna Annex. With the supply of existing stock dwindling my hope is over the next couple of years we will start to see new construction proposals for both office and residential.
  15. I always appreciate your inside info but a dept. store at CP and AG moving fwd despite the sale is not good news to me or the city of Cleveland. But I'm glad you guys are getting some work from it.
  16. 100 mil is a big amount. Would be nice if it somehow included replacement or at least a rehab of the hideous parking deck.
  17. This one also from https://mobile.twitter.com/mjarboe
  18. ^Yeah cuz it's so beautiful now.
  19. Wow this is a surprise. I hope they make it around to the big monstrous wall on the W. Huron side. And considering Sherwin Williams is a paint company, why can't they paint the exposed brick (where they hang the banner) the shade of the rest of the building? Would look so much better till something is built there.

    Cool innerbelt video.
  22. Not sure why but I definitely dig what she's wearing... Katie Holmes and her daughter Suri Cruise walk down Starkweather Avenue in the Tremont neighborhood on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013. The movie star and her daughter, with bodyguards in tow, were making their way to Lucky's Cafe to eat. Holmes is working on a movie called "Miss Meadows," a small-budget comedy directed by Karen Leigh Hopkins. The crew has been filming in and around Cleveland for a couple of weeks now. Sugarhill Gang's Master Gee living the Rapper's Delight dream from a home base in Cleveland Guy O'Brien, aka "Master Gee" of the pioneering rap group the Sugarhill Gang, is now a permanent resident of Cleveland. He's a partner in Aroma Country, a national distributor of commercial air fresheners and industrial-grade fragrances with offices and a warehouse at 3829 Hamilton Ave. He still performs, too, primarily with a group called Rapper's Delight featuring Wonder Mike and Master Gee. 24. With Dion Lewis out resign Josh Cribbs (just released). I always thought he should be coming out of the backfield anyway. If healthy he could do that.

Welcome to SanDiego.......err Cleveland,Ohio. Just a stones throw from Public Square. Just a cool photo series from the peedee of yoga classes at the much maligned EdgeWater park. This is an example of why continued improvements there are so important. http://photos.cleveland.com/4501/gallery/stand-up-paddle_yoga_reaches_lake_erie/index.html
