Cleveland: Flats East Bank
As referenced in the Phase 2 release above it states The Phase 2 plan calls for a 150,000 square foot office building over 125,000 square feet of retail. This is the 'new' office building north of the EY tower that is not on the original site plan. So it looks like the retail has just moved to a different location. They must feel confident in filling up that office space, which is a good thing. I am not concerned with the surface lots, I am sure they have plans for them. Also concerning the long process in obtaining financing. Its hard to compare what MRN did with Uptown 1&2 with FEB. This was a very complicated site, they had to do everything they could to minimize risk.

WoW great find. It's saying completion 24months from now. I can't get used to these recent quick timetables in Cleveland. Times and attitudes have surely changed.

Cleveland: Wind Turbine Construction News
Lake Erie wind turbines will be built by 2017, says LEEDCo Print By John Funk, The Plain Dealer on August 20, 2013 at 12:36 PM, updated August 20, 2013 at 12:47 PM Lake Erie wind developers say they will have the first wind turbine pilot project built by 2017. They will be similar to these offshore wind turbines in the North Sea, offshore from a village in Denmark. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2013/08/lake_erie_wind_turbines_by_201.html#incart_river_default

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Am I missing something? Why is there a question on the height of the new county building. Doesn't the rendering show it to be about 8 floors?

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Always thought this was feasible. We certainly have no shortage of materials to create that space. I mean we are about to demo a mile long bridge. That would fill up that hole real quick.

Finally a rendering of 'Red'.

Cleveland: Downtown: Hilton Cleveland
So according to this RFQ from DodgeReports the size of the building will be 600,000sq ft. In comparison the new EY at FEB is 450,000 sq ft. or about 27,000 ft per floor. So I am still hoping for 24-28 floors. Maybe they will use a smaller footprint than what is available, much like the Marriott. How about adding 10 floors of residential. That would be nice.

Cleveland: Skylift Aerial Tram
Well as I have said I love this idea. Will it become reality, probably not. But what I like most about this is that another person has stepped up to try and make a difference in their town. Over the last 3 or 4 years we have seen people such as Maron, Gies, McNulty and even Gilbert all looking to make a difference. We cant count on the olde guard like Jacobs or Forest City to matter anymore. They don't believe anymore, they don't dream anymore. And those who come into this thread just to call an idea 'stupid' or a 'pipe dream' are part of the problem and not the solution. I believe in those who believe in us, and when you have that passion I support you. For this to be feasible I believe a smaller footprint at first would be the best. Maybe first a run from the lakefront up to the mall, docking at the new hotel, bridging that gap over the RR tracks. All I know if built this will become part of our image, It would be highlighted on any sport broadcast coming in and out of the breaks. Any image of Cleveland nationally would not just be the RHall anymore but the gondola flying past the RHall. The pictures would be great, especially at night. You just can't by that type of publicity.

Cleveland: Skylift Aerial Tram
As for the SkyLift can you imagine riding this thing at night. Flying past the RHall up to the the mall, maybe docking at the new Hotel for dinner. I love this idea but there is no way in hell it could ever be financed. I am trying to think of a source but come up empty. And involving RTA would be a bad idea. BTW I don't know if this warrants its own thread yet considering it is just an idea, maybe the mods can start one. In the meantime conversation should be continued in the thread where the subject was introduced. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,2768.385.html

Cleveland: Downtown: Jack Cleveland Casino - Phase 2
Well I am not sure where you got that info but the land you speak of looks different than it did twenty years ago. With the new E9th extension and the second inner belt bridge that parcel will be much smaller very soon.

Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
Just to be clear on the 'Proposed' sound barriers. After reviewing the route I count about 1100 feet of possible sound walls out of 3.5 miles, which is about 18000 feet. Not a lot to get worked up about. Unless of course you're looking for something to get worked up about.

Cleveland: Downtown: A.J. Celebrezze Federal Building Renovation
^Judging by this recent photo from MayDay (thnx MadDog)it looks Iike framework is being installed around the mechanicals. And I think I remember the rendering showing glass at the top. I am excited about how this new skin will brighten up that part of the skyline especially when you add the redo of the Westin and how that is going to a lighter skin also. I also snapped a shot of the building driving by the other night and it looks to be a new lighting element at the top. Unless those are work lights.

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
New monuments facing downtown at Ontario/90. They are supposed to have some sort of LED feature when all is said and done. Who doesn't like stuff that lights up.

Cleveland: Edgewater Park
Surf, just a thought but you may want to call the Cleveland Sports Commision and bring them into the discussion. See if they have an interest in exploring a possible GreatLakes surfing event that could be held at Edgewater. If the Metroparks can see a revenue opportunity in the future they may be more open to the idea of surfing as more than just recreation.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
Yeah I am not all that thrilled with the PITSburgh one either. This seems a strange decision from PHS. They have done such a great job at repurposing older buildings and making good choices over the years, for them to plop down a ChiChi's on the back side of their property seems a bit odd. I see this as a better fit down along the river at FEB. I hope design review demands something better.

Clifton thanks for doing that. I have been trying to figure out how that was going to look. It's been on my list to get a closer look at that. Should look nice when finished.
