Cleveland taxi cab stuff
Couldn't find an appropriate thread for this. There is a Taxi thread but its over 4 yrs since the last post. If a mod wants to move this there, here you go>>>> http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,10540.175.html New cab company adds jobs & safe transportation in Cleveland Written by Maureen Kyle CLEVELAND -- A new cab company is starting up in Cleveland, bringing jobs and safe transportation to the city. Wolley Cab owners could have picked any city in the U.S., but thought Cleveland had the most potential. "We love Cleveland. Cleveland is like a quiet city. Chicago is really crowded," says Tom Ali. Tired of the congested streets of the Windy City, Ali and the owners of Wolley Cab company, the Ibrahim family , set their sights on Cleveland -- a growing city in need of their services. Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I am not a resident of the neighborhood so I can only offer my view as an outsider. I feel the McDonalds will be built and probably with very minor consessions on their part. I don't like a vacant building there so the McDonald s in that respect will be a plus. But I absolutely understand the concerns of the neighborhood and believe in that fight. So once this moves forward I hope those involved will put as much effort into changing the zoning laws so they will have more ammunition for future proposal's.

Thanks for that render of the original Ohio Bell building. I have often wondered why it never looked finished. Almost like there was more planned. I have never seen that rendering.

Cleveland: Downtown: Jack Cleveland Casino - Phase 2
^ And FEB was announced in 2004, and the CC started serious talks about the same year. The Breuer Tower/Rotunda conversion was up for proposals in 2008, the Schofield has had scaffolding on it for about 4 years... I could go on. Unfortunately things take time. I'm gonna trust Gilbert on this one.

^OK thanks for checking on that. But I was hoping it was a new foundation for another building. That could be soon though.

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Why couldn't RTA offer the same deal as LakefrontLines. Customers could be offered to purchase a special $10 Casino RapidPass on-line that would be good for a round trip to and from the casino while receiving $15 in free slot play when you get there. Or maybe they could run specific CasinoCars on the weekends from various RTA stations. Would customers be interested in taking the rapid downtown and receiving a benefit of free slot play when they get there. Something to think about. Although I'm sure there must be some federal regulation that would prohibit RTA from being involved. But check out the links below as other communities have tried and usually failed in there efforts to do something similar. http://www.casinogamblingweb.com/gambling-news/casino-gambling/aces_casino_train_system_from_new_york_to_atlantic_city_finished_57727.html http://www.massinc.org/INCSpot/Riding-the-casino-train.aspx http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/10/nyregion/casinos-end-atlantic-city-train-service.html

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I wonder I they ever considered Field Turf as opposed to natural grass. It may have opened it up as more of an 'all weather' outdoor space a few more months out of the year.

^ OK I hadn't seen that. That's pretty close. But I'm not sure about that large flyover from 90w to 77.

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
I am trying to determine through renders from ODOT just how the area south of the new bridge might come together. I am only guessing but it appears that the on ramps to 77s from E9th and from Ontario will be removed. (Note the area I have highlighted in red) Also the Broadway off ramp from 90e will be eliminated. The new configured Ontario St. would then carry traffic from E9th and from Ontario down past the post office to 77s. Ontario St. then becomes much more of a Blvd. with development opportunities around it. Also the new E9th St. extension now makes sense to me as it delivers congestion from the Gateway area to the flats. I don't see any of this confirmed anywhere but it seems to make sense.

^EC you crack me up. I don't always agree with the way you get your point across, or how you often appear ignorant of different cultures. But your consistent on point message is the same no matter what the subject. But I will say this, if I could be mayor for one day I would appoint you in charge of all that is in need of maintenance and upkeep. I would give you the power to ticket or arrest those who have a blatant disregard for their own public and private space. And it would be a better world. But we live in reality where forces work against what should be common decency and respect. I suggest there might be some distant Scandinavian fishing village out there somewhere where you might feel more comfortable and more at home. Carry on. Back on topic.
