Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
I was surprised to see the scenes from our "subway." Don't recall hearing about filming down there. Yeah we all talked about it this morning on our ride in as we enjoyed free wi-fi and complimentary scones. Where were you?

Cleveland: North Coast Transportation Center
Surprised there are not that many comments on this TIGER grant, but this could be huge. I think the best thing about the application is that it seems reasonable. It looks like a well thought out request. Of course TIGER money is thin and it is a longshot but I hope those reviewing the app. take into consideration that this project really hits alot of transportation points. It's definitely more function than flash. And while not beautiful, I think we can work with it. And I am at the point where I'm less concerned with the aesthetics of a proposal, and more focused on the chances of it succeeding. It's certainly different from my vision of what should be there, but it's a good start. Cleveland needs this, now.

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
Cuyahoga County plans to sell off buildings, consolidate offices Published: Saturday, April 21, 2012, 9:00 PM Updated: Saturday, April 21, 2012, 10:22 PM By Laura Johnston, The Plain Dealer The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cuyahoga County chose a real estate firm on Friday to sell unneeded county buildings -- including the downtown Ameritrust complex -- and consolidate government offices. CBRE Group Inc. will be paid $267,750, plus sales commission, to market as many as 22 buildings, evaluate possible new offices and negotiate sales or leases. Work could start next month, Public Works Director Bonnie Teeuwen said. County Executive Ed FitzGerald has said he hopes to move out of the 57-year-old administration building and consolidate offices within two years. http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2012/04/cuyahoga_county_plans_to_sell_off_buildings_consolidate_offices.html

Yes so what was proposed?

My point is SHE doesn't need the Casino's permission to start bringing in hundreds of people everyday. Prove to them it works. But you know and past performance has proven they fail miserably when it comes to working with anyone. CLE is a perfect example. So many lost opportunities there. RTA at CLE is mostly a rumor at best. They have had years to make that work and still nothing.

^Judging by their incredible lack of understanding and absence of marketing at CLE his words have little value.

NEWS FLASHHHH!!!!! i think... Market Garden Brewery's Sam McNulty to take over Garage Bar on W. 25th Street Published: Friday, April 20, 2012, 3:11 PM Updated: Friday, April 20, 2012, 3:18 PM By Joe Crea, The Plain Dealer The Plain Dealer Another piece in the effort to create a dedicated brewery district on West 25th Street has fallen into place. Sam McNulty, operator of Market Garden Brewery, Bier Markt and Bar Cento in Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood has signed a lease on the former Garage Bar, 1859 West 25th St. The entrepreneurial restaurateur intends to build on the success he and his partners, including brewmaster Andy Tveekrem, have achieved in Market Garden's full-scale brewing facilities. "I want us to get into more brewing and help build the Ohio City area into a real, fully recognized brewing district," McNulty says. http://www.cleveland.com/dining/index.ssf/2012/04/market_garden_brewerys_sam_mcn.html

That blue is probably not a true representation. It says it was taken with an iPhone. They have horrible cameras.

Hmmm. Whenever I look at this rendering it appears that the lower portion is darker or stained. Or I wonder if it just looks that way because it is a night image. I can't determine from anything if there are still plans to paint or stain the lower portion. Anyone know?

Cleveland: Random Development and News
This move is motivated by the innerbelt construction which is eating up part of the surface lot. If you look at the first rendering that brick retaining wall is part of the new roadway. This just continues the streetcape improvement to all four corners of that heavily traveled intersection. Now we just need to carry that momentum down Ontario all the way the PS. Thnx for finding that.

Higbee's looks great. But my biggest concern over the last year has been the lack of improvements to the surrounding area. The city has had a year and has done virtually nothing to the streetscape. And I am talking minor things such as updated street lamps, traffic signals, street signs. Old concrete, broken curbs, outdated trash bins, 30 year old bus shelters. As least restripe the roads and paint new crosswalks. I am hoping as the revenue starts rolling in we will see some movement, because right now it's just embarrassing. And btw outside of the improvement at the entrance to TC, Forest City has done very little. But I expect that from them.

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
Yea somebody better tell Five Guys and Guthrie Chicken not to open there, because they are going to in about a week. Steelyard is probably doing as well as any retail complex these days. Best Buy was a national decision, it had very little to do with Steelyard.

I'll post this here because it is relevant to what is currently happening with the Best Buy closings. To me this is an idea Cleveland should pursue. Smaller, smarter, urban locations. ok, it looks like MTS made a few phone calls, Cleveland will now have kilt dewds. Now I agree with RnR, Barf.

Best Buy is closing 6 Chicagoland stores. Maybe we can get them to take a look at a downtown location. I think this closing leaves the city underserved regarding electronics.

Colonial Marketplace retail in line for fixup PlayhouseSquare group latest to try its hand, will try to create theme By STAN BULLARD 4:30 am, April 9, 2012 The property management arm of PlayhouseSquare Foundation has been called upon to play the lead role in rejuvenating the retail portion of Colonial Marketplace, which consists of two historic arcades and a Residence Inn hotel near the East Fourth Street neighborhood in downtown Cleveland. Allen Wiant, vice president of strategic investment at PlayhouseSquare Real Estate Services, said Colonial Marketplace is in need of a new story to rebrand the property, which was created last decade as part of a $30 million investment that transformed upper-floor offices in the old Colonial Arcade to the extended stay hotel. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?rls=com.microsoft%3A*%3AIE-SearchBox&oe=UTF-8&rlz=1I7SUNA_en&hl=en&q=cache:hiGI1ps1bVkJ:http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20120409/SUB1/304099977/1004/toc&Profile=1004+Colonial+Marketplace+retail+in+line+for+fixup&ct=clnk

We have steel... According to their facebook page this steel will be assembled first around piers 13/14(near the Fire museum). Beginning in May and after you will see steel arrive for the larger stretch over the valley. We are going to see a lot of steel going up over the next year. Should be fun to watch.
