Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
^That is what it looks like. If that's the case, this is not good. I hope someone from design review questions that. We don't need to be staring at three floors of bumpers and headlights as you walk down Euclid.

Here comes the marines! Marine Week, coming June 11-17 to Cleveland CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Hundreds of U.S. Marines will be landing in Cleveland on June 11. They will bring lots of equipment, such as an MV-22 Osprey, an aircraft that performs like a helicopter but can also fly like a plane, demonstrate their amphibious assault vehicles and show off their Marine bands and drill teams. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2012/02/speech_by_major_general_ronald.html

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
After going through that PDF you have to be impressed with the work that MMPI has done. After taking so much crap throughout this process their experience really has been demonstrated. That ballroom is going to be a world class space. And although not a big deal but I am confused with the 1 million plus sq. ft of space. You look at the numbers that are presented and it just doesn't add up.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I know Delonte West has his issues to deal with, but then again maybe he's just more real than most. Some of his quotes from the Dallas Star: CLEVELAND -- Delonte West gets treated like royalty around Cleveland. After the Cleveland Cavaliers nipped the Dallas Mavericks, 91-88, Saturday night at Quickens Loans Arena, security folks who were working here when West played for the Cavs from 2008-'10 playfully told him he couldn't come in the Cav's locker room. Then, of course, they allowed West to do whatever he wanted to do. "The city of Cleveland is a hard working city and they're about the right things,'' West said. "These Cleveland fans are more than fans. "They're friends, they're people in the community, people at the Home Depot and the CVS that you see every day. It's good seeing a lot of their faces still in the same seats.'' Read more here: http://sportsblogs.star-telegram.com/mavs/2012/02/west-treated-like-royalty.html#storylink=cpy

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
^Good idea about the comment section, MH. He needs to know that people do care about this town. Btw I thought it was cool how he described downtown as comparable in size to Manhatten. That is what I have always hoped for downtown. A small area yes, but a size that's easily manageable as far as filling in the blank spaces.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
I could not be happier with this outcome. That is if RTA doesn't screw this up somehow and continue to be the slum landlord that it has been with 6611. Without Dunham this property will continue to be the focus of despair in Midtown for years to come. The neighborhood needs to move on. One massive eyesore down, many more to go.

lol Sources: Plain Dealer removes Tony Grossi from Cleveland Browns beat By JOEL HAMMOND 2:16 pm, January 25, 2012 It appears a Twitter slipup has, at least in the short term, cost a Plain Dealer reporter his post on the newspaper's most popular beat. Tony Grossi, who has covered the Cleveland Browns for the newspaper since 1984, has been removed from the beat, according to two sources. The move comes after Mr. Grossi sent what he called an inadvertent tweet on Jan. 18 that read, “(Team owner Randy Lerner) is a pathetic figure, the most irrelevant billionaire in the world.” http://www.crainscleveland.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20120125/FREE/120129905

Regarding the Tilted Kilt images posted above. My concern are those panels above the NaNa Wall system. It looks like they might be filled with different images and graphics. I hope design review questions that. Although I am a big fan of girls in short plaid skirts, I don't think we need those photos plastered all over the exterior.

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
The common denominator with the current delay and the work stoppage in the fall is Gov. John Kasich. These delays also effect Penn Nat'l, so I tend to put more of the blame on goverment bureaucrats then on Gilbert. Any delay is costing both developers big bucks.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
This may be our only hope that someone might purchase this building and punch some windows into that blank side of the building that faces public square. Railroad union, nation's oldest labor group, puts downtown Cleveland headquarters on the market Published: Thursday, January 19, 2012, 8:00 PM By Michelle Jarboe McFee, The Plain Dealer The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The nation's oldest labor union is putting its headquarters building on the market, in a bet that downtown Cleveland projects will boost investor zeal for sites near Public Square. The railroad union, now called the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, constructed the Standard Building in 1924 to house the country's first labor bank. Now the group has publicly listed the property for sale, for the first time in its history. The Chartwell Group real estate brokerage is marketing the 21-story building, at Ontario Street and Saint Clair Avenue, for $8.8 million. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2012/01/railroad_union_nations_oldest.html

Ughh, CSU goes down to Valparaiso today wtf. After that big victory over Butler? The coaches need to take the heat on this one. Not having their team prepared. Can not have another let down like this again if they have any hopes of tournament play.

^What evidence do you have that Gilbert is "thumbing his nose" at the role rail might play in the future. Just because it's not on the front page of the peedee doesn't mean that it is not being discussed. Besides I am just guessing that Gilbert has a lot on his plate right now. I would think that the rail discussion would probably be more a part of Phase II planning, considering it could be included right at ground level of the possible parking deck. I hope that city leaders and especially RTA can be at the forefront of keeping the discussion about rail alive with the Casino developers.

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
ODOT News Release 1/11/12, ODOT/MidTown Cleveland, Inc. to Undertake Innerbelt Economic Impact Study Study Centers on Access to the Cleveland Health-Tech Corridor CLEVELAND (Thursday, January 12, 2012) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and MidTown Cleveland, Inc. have agreed to undertake an economic development study to address concerns raised by MidTown Cleveland stakeholders regarding the Prospect and Carnegie Avenue exit ramps from I-90 east, along MidTown’s Health and Technology Corridor. “We’re happy to have come to an agreement with MidTown Cleveland, Inc. about this important corridor,” said ODOT District Deputy Director Myron S. Pakush. “We look forward to the completion of the study.” The recent agreement sets in motion a study to assess three alternatives for the corridor including: no changes to the current configuration at Prospect and Carnegie; the current interchange configuration proposed by ODOT; and a new configuration that maintains direct access to and from both Carnegie and Prospect. Under ODOT’s proposed interchange configuration, Prospect Avenue traffic would be redirected via a pair of one-way frontage roads to adjacent ramps. Carnegie Avenue and E. 22nd Street would be consolidated into a single access point at E. 22nd Street and Central Avenue. Changes are designed to eliminate weaving motions and improve safety and congestion along the corridor. ODOT and MidTown Cleveland’s recent agreement will reevaluate the impact of the interchange configuration plan and both parties have agreed to abide by the findings of the study. The study is expected to be complete in 2013 and is funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation. “MidTown Cleveland, Inc. is pleased to be partnering with ODOT on this comprehensive study of the Carnegie and Prospect Avenue ramp system serving MidTown and the Cleveland Health-Tech Corridor”, said Jim Haviland, Executive Director of MidTown Cleveland, Inc. “By working together, ODOT and MidTown will help ensure that current and future development along the corridor will continue to be supported by the Cleveland Innerbelt”. ODOT’s Innerbelt Corridor Modernization Plan is focused on improving safety, reducing congestion and traffic delays, and modernizing interstate travel along I-71, I-77 and I-90 through Downtown Cleveland. This investment by the State of Ohio will rehabilitate and reconstruct the Innerbelt Freeway system and address operational, design, safety and access shortcomings that severely impact the ability of the Innerbelt Freeway system to meet the transportation needs of Northeast Ohio. The first of seven Innerbelt Corridor construction contract groups is currently underway with the construction of a new westbound I-90 Innerbelt Bridge. Work will be followed by a project to remove and replace the existing structure with a new eastbound bridge. All work associated with the Innerbelt Bridge is expected to be complete in 2016. http://www.dot.state.oh.us/districts/D12/Deputy%20Director/News/Pages/ODOT-and-MidTown-Cleveland,-Inc.-to-Undertake-Innerbelt-Economic-Impact-Study.aspx
