  1. Hmm, that's interesting about TowerCityAmphitheater. If you go to the LiveNation website and look under venues, TCA is no longer listed. I hadn't heard anything about it closing. But although I really like the space down there I would love to see something like Blossom by the river. Spend some of that LiveNation money and build something not made of canvas. It could be beautiful down there.
  2. In my mind Gilbert is very quietly working to have the two facilitys permanent. Why would he want the smallest casino in Ohio when this has been his game from the start. More tables, more slots equal more revenue. It seems that they have been working behind the scenes non-stop to make things happen before making announcements. As far as the 'valet parking' proposal I see this as nothing more than them wanting to provide a first class experience. A visitors experience needs to be as seamless as possible from the moment he parks his car to the time he leaves. Word travels fast and if the perception is that going to the Cleveland casino is not a good environment then you have to work twice as hard to get that customer back. The typical Mr and Mrs casino could care less if they gamble in downtown Cleveland or downtown Strongsville. But it is going to be that typical customer that will be needed on a regular basis to make this thing work. Not everyone is an urban fan like those on this forum are. The stretch of road between the Q and Public Square right now is not the most inviting place to be. That needs to change.
  3. I don't understand where all of the skepticism comes from regarding the permanant site. We knew from very early on about the temporary site. What evidence does anyone have that it will not happen. Gilbert has been pretty open so far regarding the timetable. Unless the money just isn't there anymore I just can't see Gilbert pulling out.
  4. ^After reading that article let me just say 'Kiss my Ass Kimpton'. Don't need you... don't want you.
  5. ^I believe it prevents water from entering the excavation area.
  6. Yeah sorry but be careful what you wish for. I will never celebrate the loss of new construction and new professional opportunities within the city. Enjoy driving past another vacant lot for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately I believe a lot of the opposition to this project was driven by prejudice toward the type of citizen that it would ultimately help.
  7. Here is a link to a short video about Euclid Commons, nothin really new. http://tours.imagemaker360.com/viewer/23.asp?id=93644
  8. BTW if you go to the webcam they have added a couple more angles. http://www.clevelandmedicalmart.com/about/live-web-cam/
  9. Jeff Johnson... lol. What besides a bad career has this guy ever developed.
  10. ^ Agreed on your second point. And there is no perfect solution, but I think keeping the busses as close to PS as possible should be the goal.
  11. So how about an explanation as to why it's not a good idea and what would you do?
  12. I think the solution is a transit center, much like the one gottaplan points out to in Detroit. How about on the vacant Jacobs property. A transit center could be designed so that something could still be built on top of it, much like the 515 structure. I would much rather have the buses concentrated in one place than how it is now. Saying that PS has been this way for 150 years doesn't mean that it wasn't a bad idea in the first place. A Public Square should be a more tranquil space where you can escape for a little bit, and that cant happen with a bunch of stinky busses running through it all the time. With the Casino just a year away the culture must change on PS. All it will take is for one Casino visitor from Indiana or wherever to have a bad experience and the media will eat it up. We all know that they will. And if that happens your reputation will spread as being unsafe and dangerous.
  13. The web page is up. http://www.horseshoe.com/info/cleveland/
  14. ^Damn can I live there. Seriously though can we line the streets throughout the downtown area with these, for rental and for sale units. I believe they would be snapped up by those looking to live in the city.

I secretly wish that after the first bridge is built and the existing bridge is demolished it is determined that the one bridge can handle the traffic, and the money is put toward another project downtown.
  16. More on a Thursday presser. Dan Gilbert's gaming company and Caesars purchase property for Cleveland casino Published: Tuesday, February 01, 2011, 6:44 PM Updated: Wednesday, February 02, 2011, 8:41 AM By Dave Davis, The Plain Dealer And Thursday, developer Rock Ohio Caesars will announce what part the historic Higbee building will play in their plans for the downtown casino. According to invitations sent to local leaders, the developer will host a "celebratory lunch" at Bridges Restaurant inside Gilbert's Quicken Loans Arena following Thursday's 11 a.m. press conference in the Higbee building. 17. ^From the above AOL article: "On Thursday, developers plan to announce exactly what part the historic cluster of buildings will play in their plans for the downtown casino." Is there a planned announcement. Does anyone know anymore about this?
  18. Lets look back at a MedMart rendering before LMN got involved. Thank you LMN.
  19. So over in the MM/CC thread the link to the article on the WKYC website about the project also mentions the "demolition at the Ford Plant's Casting Operation". I've done numerous searches and can't seem to identify which buildings that this involves. Does anyone know if this involves any structures that can be seen from Rt. 237 or is this all internal stuff?
  20. The bridge is what it is, I am still not happy about it. To me the bigger impact to the city will be the eventual reconstruction of the "Trench". But unfortunately that is years away.
  21. It will be fun watching this go up over the next 2+ years. For all of the doomsayers this is a very exciting time for Cleveland. With the amount of real estate that this project involves, this is definitely a face-changer. It is so much more than your ordinary run of the mill Convention Center. Along with this project, the Casino, FEB, and the Innerbelt bridge, I am really proud of Cleveland right now. Oh and btw way the greenhouse structure on the mall is for the groundbreaking ceremonies. And yes it needs a construction cam.
  22. So here is a link to photos I found on flicker that shows the area in question. Looks like they were taken very recently by someone named "ClevelandUrbanGirl". Didnt want to post them without permission. http://www.flickr.com/photos/clevelandurbangirl/5331568385/#in/photostream/

hmm..It looks like they have taken the survey down, can't access it from the ODOT page. But as far as the BroadwayMills building it was hard to tell from the renderings just what the plans were long term. I had thought at one point it was scheduled for demo along with the Cold Storage building.

I am happy to see the level of detail that will take place at ground level, from the renderings I like what is being considered. Also wasn't the Broadway Mills building scheduled for demo or will that be in the way of the second bridge?
  25. I am seriously ready to throw up and at a loss for even the most hopeful of words...
