Great can't wait to eat at the Steaks&Stacks. Bringing that whole thing up to street level is a major challenge and must eat up a lot of the cost. I do like the activity it brings at street level, I hope they can maintain that in the final design. BTW I wonder how old this vid is, the Lebron sign is still up. Gilbert's gotta hate that.

Well at the risk of taking this off-topic, I just feel that if the casino is a success that space will demand something greater.

Sorry not a big fan of food courts, especially in that part of the building. That space could be so much more. The food court could go somewhere else.

^My hope is that food court would die a quick and timely death.

Cleveland Area: American Greetings HQ relocation?
The thought of this thread just pisses me off to no end. I am so tired of these old east side suburbanites holding this area hostage with their threats of moving out of state. This has nothing to do with taxes, it has to do with their perception of what this area will be in the future. They have zero belief that we will succeed, so instead of staying and believing in us, much like Lebron they run. Like a shiny object, they are fascinated by the lure of what they perceive as a brighter future in the distance. As was mentioned earlier in the thread, a company such as Hallmark remains a good corporate citizen and embraces a community much like Cleveland, Kansas City. These CEO's seem to forget that "we" made them, they didn't make us.

Did anyone catch the story today on Cleveland .com about preliminary design work on the casino. There was a rendering attached to the article that showed the entrance to the casino on Huron across from Tower City. It described the casino as being built atop a 7 story parking deck that included retail and restaurants. Evidently there is a 4 minute video that the peedee got a hold of showing the most recent design work. From the rendering it appeared as if the entrance fronted Huron and was about 5 story's tall. I searched but the link is now dead, I knew I should have posted it then but I was busy watching the stupid Browns (as my dad calls them). This was the link. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2010/11/our_first_look_at_dan_gilberts.html

This is great stuff, thanks for posting. Maybe with this as an example other property owners will take notice and do the same.

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
OK so back to the bridge. Below is from the DOT website describing how HNTB proposes a unique design approach to a couple of areas of the bridge, which reduces some of the cost. I guess we will have to use our imagination to picture what they are talking about until we can see some renderings. The team took a unique approach which ends the main span just east of Ontario Street allowing for a smaller, “Gateway” bridge over Ontario Street and a landscaped embankment between the two bridges. Reducing the length of main viaduct in this way would reduce the amount of new materials required and increase the amount of reused materials. The team also pushed-back the pier closest to the Western Reserve Fire Museum and integrated it with the retaining wall structure along Canal Road opening views of the river valley. The design also includes additional art panels along Ontario and E. 9th Streets.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
That's great news if that is the case, it will make a huge difference. Also I hope that PS is considering some type of new marquee for the complex, the current one is old and dated. Certainly not befitting the second largest performance center in the country. And as for the Allen rendering, I'm a fan.

The Smartphone Thread
I have been using the Droid X for about 2 months now and I would def recommend it. It is the most powerful and responsive phone I have had to date. It is a little big but that feeling goes away after a while. Although the size makes it very easy to type on. And the vid cam and the HDMI output is awesome. I wish it had a front facing cam but I think that is more of a VZW decision at this point.

NYC: The High Line
Thanks for the updates on the HighLine. Hope to see it in person sometime. To me this project is brilliant. I have been following this one and the Dequindre Cut in Detroit. This is what Urban means to me, beautiful spaces in an Urban Setting. I would love to see something on this scale in Cleveland. Just don't know where yet.
