  1. No idea, but I was Googling the topic and came across the North Market Revitalization Plan from 1982, which was interesting to see.
  2. If anything, this site warrants a smaller boutique hotel with plenty of ground-level retail along High and minimal, concealed rear parking in a similar manner to the street level configuration of the Graduate in the SN.
  3. I'm not very knowledgeable about this, are there ways the City can permit the demo and parking lot use for a set period of time with the condition of development starting by a certain date? Is there a way the City could impose penalties for not adhering to an agreed-upon timeline like that?
  4. This was mentioned back when the Hilton was under construction, but that's a fairly standard pace in a city like Columbus. Concrete-framed towers in high-rise cities like New York and Chicago will go up about twice as fast.
  5. Glad to see it reused as well. Such a cool, unique spot. Was Double Happiness for awhile and brought in some pretty good music acts.
  6. 100 N High will have a rooftop (hoisted) pool as well. Add in the Nicholas and the Renaissance, that's four rooftop pools within a few blocks.
  7. Nevermind, looks like it's for equipment lifts to the rooftop of the Continental Centre at 150 E Gay. I found the right-of-way occupancy permit and it looks like that section of Gay is slated to be closed for around 40 days.
  8. Big crane downtown this morning, looks like it's between N 3rd and Lazelle, maybe on Gay Street? Anyone know what that's for?
  9. For anyone who doesn't remember (like I didn't), Downtown Columbus Inc. is the new name for the former Columbus Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC).
  10. The City website doesn't currently have their infrastructure project fact sheets available, but that seems to be the direction:
  11. I know it's a conceptual rendering, but the facade is giving me way more Gilbert vibes than I'm comfortable with.
  12. I believe they have... Was talking with an incoming freshman and she said she was going to be in one of the towers with 15 suitemates.
  13. Initially, yes. The IVC submission for the project in 12/2022 and other early iterations were by JBAD. I'm not sure if a new design team was brought on board when it transitioned to Arcadia as developer or if it was still running through JBAD's office and will now transition to Gensler.
  14. Curious what the closure of JBAD's office means for this project. I guess we'll find out once the submission is made public.
  15. I would compare it more to bowling. It's simple enough that you don't need to have training to be half-decent and enjoy your time, it can be casual enough that it's an excuse to get together and drink, it can be competitive enough that people get into it and want to continue as they improve. Plus it's easy for commercial venues to rent out the basic equipment. It may not be the most exciting activity available (especially for people who are active/wealthy enough to play tennis), but it's pretty accessible to a wide swath of the population.
  16. Agreed. And unless there are other plans for the parcel to the north, the garage would be very visible to 3rd Ave.
  17. That the women's hockey team still plays in the ice rink is insane. They've been in the last three national championships, winning two of them. I've heard the team has to take stairs in their skates to get to the ice.
  18. How many cranes does it take to screw in a lightbulb erect another crane?
  19. This article claims they are keeping ownership of the building and renting it out to another restaurant.
  20. Isn't that a statement about the developers more than the design firms? NBBJ, Moody Nolan and others in town have worked on massive, complex, design-forward projects around the country (and world) but there's just not a lot of that happening in mid Ohio.
  21. Are their trucks really that big of an issue? I work within a few blocks and haven't noticed - I assumed they would just hop on Fourth to 670 and stay out of the downtown area. It would be great if Abbott were gone and this could be reclaimed for the district, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. Pushing for some degree of streetscape design on the new building and better screening of their parking area between 5th and Neilston would be a big help (and reasonable request) for what will hopefully be a redevelopment of the whole Mt Vernon corridor in the near future.
  22. There's signage up that the second floor office space is for lease.
  23. Really puts into perspective the scale of the holes at Top Golf. Weird takeaway, but in my head they're a lot smaller (potentially as a result of my abilities).
