  1. With the ninth floor facade framed (around the same height as the White Haines building), you can really get a feel for the new continuous streetwall on the east side of High Street on this block.
  2. That's great to hear. Really hoping Third & Fourth streets can hit a tipping point and start filling in from Chestnut down to Gay.
  3. A permit application was submitted yesterday for the tenant space at 154 N. Third (just south of the new townhomes) for the buildout of a coffeeshop and bar named Echos Coffee.
  4. There have also been survey crews at the surface lots on fourth opposite Wolf's Ridge within the past month, if that means anything. I haven't been able to find any submissions or applications for development yet.
  5. Crane rental is pricey and as soon as they switched over to the wood construction portion, it's not really necessary anymore. They'll bring in temporary means of getting final air handling units and equipment onto the roof, but the rest of the building structure doesn't warrant keeping a crane around. It also gets it out of the way on site.
  6. Underground parking is surprising to me but if they can make it happen, I'm all for it.
  7. The top of the central core is visible from 670E coming into downtown! Excited to see this one start to impact the skyline.
  8. I couldn't grab a picture this morning (bc driving) but it looks like work is well underway on the former Engine House No. 6 at 540 W. Broad St, the future home of the Columbus Historical Society. It looked like a civil engineer was surveying the parking lot at the Spaghetti Warehouse site as well.
  9. Hilton split each floor into a north and south pour, but your timing is correct for each pour. In bigger markets like Chicago or NYC, they can do that in about 3 days.
  10. Awesome. We're in Q2 now, so let's get those apartments going!
  11. Progress check at The Gilbert - not much has changed on the exterior since early February:
  12. The brochure on their website gives a decent amount of detail: https://www.merchantbuildingoffice.com/_files/ugd/9c9a38_50399b0cb9ce477fa981dad638dc91ae.pdf
  13. It looks like this one might actually have some windows facing the street, which is nice(r). I wish these were forced to address the street more - the one at Dublin Rd and Grandview Ave, for example, is clearly the backside of the building with some stuck-on awnings. I understand the customers are coming from within the site, but the Sheetz approach of siting the building at the intersection and turning the building's worst facades to the streetscape isn't helping anything.
  14. Most major hotels (Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, etc.) are required to undergo a Property Improvement Plan (updating finishes, furniture, etc.) every six to ten years
  15. That's good to hear. I walked by last week midday and the lights to illuminate Current were on. I was wondering if that has to do with it going back up soon or if those have been on all winter...
  16. Is this the right place for 100 N High updates? Looks like they are topping out the garage portion and starting on the residential floors. Note the protection of the COTA stop and sign...
  17. I can't tell if you're intending that gif literally as the caption or in the true sense of the P&R plot, where a bigger crisis is brewing in the background...
  18. Feels like this one is taking forever to build - is there a reason for that?
  19. I wonder if it's related to the graphics permit they pulled in January for replacing the faces on their sign. If it's not, I'd imagine it's something minor as you suggested, since they very recently went through the process of updating the sign.
  20. I imagine there is also some momentum that has to build when getting people to move into these "new" neighborhoods or developments. I'm sure it's smart to be cautious when forecasting, but I'd think that these areas start with the early adopter-attitude residents who are open to trying new things (living downtown), and as these places get validated by those residents they will start to build momentum with a broader audience. Wishful thinking, perhaps.
  21. They did months of work to restore the first two floors' masonry facade and remove whatever coating had been on it previously - I assume that portion is as good as it can get, given its state. But i agree that the top of the building could have been treated better beyond just painting over what was there. That said, though I'm not in love with the final product, I much prefer it to what was there prior.
  22. Found the answer to my own question... https://www.dlrgroup.com/work/ohio-state-university-wexner-medical-center-outpatient-care-facilities/
