  1. Here's the design (at least at some point): https://www.italianvillagepark.com/general-1
  2. Putting the design (or lack thereof) aside for a moment, I'm very confused by the selection of elevations they're showing. I don't understand the shape of the proposed building or why they're seemingly only sharing the less-prominent facades, with two of the three being internal to the site. If this is the entire east half of the block from Spring to Long along Cleveland Ave, the east facade and the NE/SE corners are going to be the most visible. There doesn't appear to be any special attention paid to the NE corner in the north elevation shared in the article. Really hoping this is basically a diagram of the building program and not an indication of the architectural approach, but why share it if that's the case? Yikes.
  3. It's not glass, but it is translucent polycarbonate panels. So it will still allow plenty of daylight into the hall.
  4. Redevelopment of the Beacon building site is part of the latest Columbus Strategic Plan.
  5. So two roundabouts within the campus, plus a third at the Cosgray/Scioto Darby connection... Hilliard has 16 roundabouts as of last year.
  6. The article caption indicates that as an actual rendering of the Powell project, but is it really going to be nearly identical to the Dublin location?
  7. I was a bit confused at first if this effort is solely geared towards rehoming/recontextualizing the Columbus statue or finding a replacement piece for City Hall. From the Reimagining Columbus website quote above, it sounds like it's both.
  8. That's not nearly long enough. The tower's name will need to be at least 7 or 8 lines long so the exterior illuminated sign company can get their cut.
  9. The first metal panels have started going up on the top of the north facade. Looks like they're still planning to use black vertically-ribbed panels.
  10. The interior is reminiscent of the Copenhagen Opera House as well...
  11. One of the most disappointing budget-related cuts to that building. The original design for the crown lighting was great.
  12. https://columbusunderground.com/eight-story-building-proposed-for-long-street-downtown-bw1/
  13. I expect wall-to-wall UO coverage of these transports.
  14. With the amount of surface parking available at this site, I can't imagine a developer paying for structured parking and giving up that square footage or pushing the building taller. I hope there is some thought given to a master plan for how this area gets redeveloped and we don't end up getting isolated projects like this one that may not contemplate future development and connectivity.
  15. This makes a lot more sense to me, as I didn't think they had a major presence downtown. The Atlas and adjacent parking lot were a fairly recent purchase for them.
  16. Happy to see the infill, but Kephart needs to step it up or this will be a third disappointing design opportunity for them in Columbus.
  17. I do miss the entire Warehouse District smelling like donuts. Simpler times.
  18. Houses are coming down today/this morning. Probably already done at this point - they tore down half of one while I was sitting at the red light. They're small houses but it's still crazy to me how quickly what was someone's home for years can be reduced to a pile of debris.
  19. I haven't seen anything to date, but found a good site plan on Equity's website with an indication of which buildings are currently under construction:
  20. Maybe someday, but that's really a result of all the back of house spaces required to support the meeting and ballrooms on those floors.
  21. Agreed. Rockbridge and Makeready do good work when it comes to hotels.
  22. "Three seven-story buildings" I don't see any surface parking in the rendered site plan on CU - do we know if they're planning to incorporate all parking into the three structures?
  23. I thought we already had a lasagna tower proposed for Columbus.
  24. Wow: "Utility lines will also have to be moved and some trees trimmed in places along the journey so the gigantic equipment can pass by." "Groveport City officials are concerned about traffic and utility disruption caused by the shipments as well as potential damage to the road beds due to the crushing weight of the equipment being hauled."
