  1. San Francisco has some nicely designed and concealed substations - Larkin Street and PG&E Mission
  2. There is movement. I'd expect to hear more about it this year.
  3. I don't think that's correct. In the graphic, they've realigned the entrance drive to be perpendicular to ORR so it leads deeper into the Kohl's site. The grayed-out building on the right of that image is the Hilton Garden Inn and the existing Motel 6 would be just north of that.
  4. I'd love to see more engagement with/density along ORR. Hopefully it's not all isolated behind those frontage lots. The massive lot for the single Chase ATM needs a better use and feels emblematic of the current density.
  5. I believe that's the foil face of the mineral fiber insulation board that you're seeing and the eventual exterior finish panels will cover that all up. But that should be the last step before we start seeing the panels being installed, so we'll likely know soon what the final material/color will be.
  6. Tilt-up concrete walls are going up quickly for the new Simpson Strong-Tie manufacturing and distribution center north of Roberts Road just west of the rail lines. I don't remember seeing much about this 300,000 sf project before now, but found brief articles on the architect and contractor's websites.
  7. The fact that Autozone currently owns the lots seems relevant... could these have been slated for demo and a CFD training exercise? The permitting of the demo happened pretty quickly, with the application submitted 12/11.
  8. Don't sell yourself short. These aren't blurry and we can see the actual construction, so they're great photos.
  9. From the photo, it looks like that gray is a fluid-applied air barrier product for weatherproofing. You can see it around the windows near the top where it hasn't been applied to the balance of the sheathing yet. But that's a guess based on the single photo. And who knows if the final cladding will be much different.
  10. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2023/10/04/olentangy-motor-inn.html The Olentangy portion of the Varsity Inn was rebranded to the Olentangy Motor Inn and the King Ave portion is being replaced by a Home 2 Suites.
  11. It's been a gravel lot for a couple months now. I pass it daily and it's sad to see it gone and nothing being done in its place. Would love to see redevelopment of that lot and the others to the east up to St Patrick. Feels like a lot of potential in that area.
  12. I don't have photos, but the extent of site work currently underway for the 8-building Amazon data center complex off Scioto Darby at 270 in Hilliard is crazy. It looks like a majority of the 152-acre site is getting regraded, with the amount of equipment they have out there now. Maybe it's just me, but I hadn't realized how big this project was at the time of hearing about it. Here's a past Dispatch story on the development: https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/local/communities/hilliard/2022/07/21/amazon-can-advance-third-data-center-hilliard/10102131002/
  13. Exiting to see some actual building elements visible beyond the site prep and underground piles!
  14. The sidewalk in front of the historic Madison's & White-Haines buildings has started to reopen now that the storefronts are complete. A couple photos of 100 N High as well, including from Pearl on the northeast side.
  15. Agreed. It feels like instead of the old approach where developers and owners wanted to get things moving as quickly as possible before things got more expensive, they know that everything's already expensive now and are taking their time with projects. In my experience, a lot of developers are taking much more time with the early financial analyses before releasing projects to advance through design and construction.
  16. Looks like the stair towers moved to the exterior for some reason. Could be building code-related, but that's not an excuse for why they're not better detailed and more attractive.
  17. You know it's real when Homage has it on a t-shirt: https://www.homage.com/products/the-silicon-heartland
  18. Here's the website for the fourth water plant project: https://cbuswater4.com/
  19. Do you mean water plant (not wastewater)? Columbus has three water plants: Dublin Road, Hap Cremean, and Parsons Avenue.
  20. I didn't put this together yesterday, but I noticed that Pins across the street had just repainted their building to a true black. I wonder if they wanted to move away from the gray green it was previously that now seems pretty close to the new color of this building... Maybe just a coincidence.
  21. It seems like these are the final colors. The upper floors are a greenish gray that is a bit greener in reality than the photo seems to show. But all of that brick was repainted to this new color, so I'd imagine that's final. It feels like it's missing a cornice or some element at the very top of the walls to make it look complete.
